5 out of 5 stars Eyelid Surgery

Rejuvenation of Upper and Lower Eyelids, Brows, Facelift, Lip Lift, CO2 Laser - Spokane, WA

I was very nervous about having cosmetic surgery at all, but after meeting Dr. Chesnut and seeing his results, I was confident and excited about the journey ahead. Dr. Chesnut is truly a national expert on minimally invasive cosmetic surgery, and he lectures to other physicians about his techniques - far too many doctors say they are experts and give talks, but shortly after my surgery, Dr. Chesnut gave 4 presentations at a major national meeting on eyelid surgery alone! His expertise impressed me, but his bedside manner was even more incredible. He is kind, genuine, and confident - kind of an odd combination, but it gave me confidence that he was going to do the best job of anyone I'd met with (which was everyone) and he was going to care about me and my individual results. That is exactly what happened. I was a little concerned about a few of the logistics at first because he was different; his anesthesia technique is unique to others I had met with, and he practices at a dermatology office... Here is what I learned after meeting with him and doing my own research: the minimalist anesthesia he does is the most modern, safe, and progressive way to perform anesthesia for these types of cosmetic surgery. You have to find a very well trained and recently trained surgeon who is capable of doing this, and that is Dr. Chesnut in a nutshell, having done his cosmetic surgery fellowship training in the promised land of Los Angeles. The anesthesia was so easy, comfortable, and I felt very safe knowing I didn't need a tube in my throat to breathe for me. It also allowed him to do numerous procedures at once without worrying about time under with general anesthesia, which was very nice for me. I'm so glad he did it that way. He has two, legitimate, separate parts of his training, first in dermatology and then in dermatologic and cosmetic surgery, which was extra training called a fellowship that very few surgeons do. I asked my "cosmetic" plastic surgeons that I had talked to, and none of them had done a fellowship. When I asked about numbers of facelifts and eyelid surgeries done in training, most of them were at about 1/5 of what Dr. Chesnut had done in his specific, cosmetic surgery fellowship. Whereever you are, look for that fellowship training in your doctor, it gives them so many more specific cosmetic surgeries under their belt. Where I live in Spokane, Dr. Chesnut is one of the only doctors with this, and his was the most specific to cosmetics. The surgery day was easy, with the relaxing medicine I slept through it, and it felt like I was in and out even though it took from the morning to early afternoon. I recovered quickly, at home, because I had no general anesthesia. The recovery process was exactly what Dr. Chesnut had thoroughly set me up for. It was a journey, but he called me frequently to check up, and I saw him in regular scheduled visits a fist time within the first week, which was very, very nice to be able to have him sit down with me and provide reassurance and comfort. He is very thorough and genuine, as I said. I was swollen for a couple of weeks but still looking good, and now more than 5 months out I cannot express how happy I am with my results! You see all of these reviews about how thorough he is with follow up, caring about you, taking care of you, and I got to experience it for myselft with wonderful results. I wish I would have done it earlier, and I'm so glad I did everything at once. I was unsure about the laser, and after talking with him and researching I decided to do it with the other surgical procedures, and I'm glad I did. You cannot go wrong with someone like Dr. Chesnut, he is worth every penny. He far exceeded my expectations.

52 Year Old Male with Severely Saggy, Baggy Eyes - Traveled for Procedure - Spokane, WA

Meeting with Dr. Chesnut is not like meeting with the numerous other cosmetic surgeons I had shopped around with. He is genuinely warm, interested in you, not just in selling you a procedure. He seemed to care most about what I needed and wanted, not what he wanted to give me. When you leave most of these offices you feel a bit slimy, but there is none of that sleazy feeling with Dr. Chesnut. He's not going to walk in the room with thousands of dollars worth of flashy clothes trying to impress you; he is going to be real, and it will be your results that impress you. My best advice to is go into your consultation with an idea of what you want and maybe even a photo of your younger self - one of the most impressive things about my results is how similar to my younger photos I look, as opposed to looking totally different than I ever did before. In summary, Dr. Chesnut is a diamond in the rough - he belongs in Beverly Hills, Hollywood, and Los Angeles, but ended up in Washington state. I had a great experience, I am thrilled I made the investment, and I made the right decision to make the trip to Washington state to have him do it. He was highly recommended in Southern California and with good reason.

Puffy, Saggy Eyes No More/Upper and Lower Bleph - Spokane, WA

The eyes being front and center, a mistake can mean disaster. If you want to put the odds in your favor, see Dr. Cameron Chestnut. His education is impressive, and he has the knowledge that many doctors do not. He actually went under my lower lid with the suture coming from underneath by my nose. The suture marks were just two, the size of pin pricks, if that. They disappeared within a day. No scar, nothing. Incredible when I see what others have had to deal with. His suture marks on my upper lid are so symmetrical and perfect, I don't need to wear the defining line of eye shadow that most of us apply , and when they heal and disappear, I swear I'll miss them! I don't believe my actual recovery is that different from anyone else's, same swelling and gummy eyes, a little bruising, but I was surprised at how little pain there was. It was interesting how it affects the nerves in my face, but I knew what to expect because the doctor went over the procedure and the aftermath. The surgery itself, the latest and most effective techniques, made the healing much more comfortable. And that was important to the doctor, so much so that he specifically asks if he prepared me enough. Yes, he did if you are wondering. After about 10 minutes into our initial meeting, there was no question about consulting with another doctor. He is that good. I could tell you that he is kind and gentle and that he puts you completely at ease, that he checks in with you before the surgery and after, multiple times. If he doesn't hear from you, he takes the time to contact you again until he speaks with you. I could tell you that he doesn't rush you during your appointments and lets you talk and ask all the questions you want and that he gives you detailed answers, calms your concerns and simply takes care of you. He just takes care of you. I could tell you all that, and it's all true of him which is extraordinary, but the heart of the matter is Dr. Chestnut knows his stuff. He is very, very good. I am trying not to be effusive and use exclamation marks all over to express my complete satisfaction with my experience because it just won't do him justice. I recently moved up to the area from Southern California, the capitol of changing faces. If I had it to do all over again, I would travel two days up here to have Dr. Chestnut perform the surgery. I do not like to write reviews, but in this case, I want to let people know it's not just "my" experience. Dr. Chestnut is simply being himself and not putting on an act to achieve good reviews. And his staff is marvelous, right there to help before and after the procedure, even writing down instructions in large, bold, black pen on your prescription bottles making it easier to see as our vision may be blurry afterward. They went far and beyond what I would ever expect. On a separate situation, they contacted my pharmacy numerous times over a prescription, making sure my insurance would cover it. Nicole even went so far as to get in touch with my insurance agency itself. I was completely won over by their dedication and patience. Yes, we pay them for services, but the quality of said service makes all the difference in the world.

Sixty Eight Year Looking for a Fresher Look - Spokane, WA

Dr. Chestnut is a wonderful Doctor to work with, espically if you like a more natural look. I did not want to look a whole lot younger than I am and did not want the typical face lift. I wanted a more natural look and Dr. Chestnut believes in that and that is exactly what he did for me. He takes a lot of time with you for questions and to ease your fear no matter what those might be. He is extremely "gifted" in what he does and works hard to achieve your goals. I feel so blessed to find a Doctor who cares so much, does what he tells you he will do and is so good at it!
