I don’t use that phrase lightly. My hernia repair and abdominoplasty 7 weeks ago has given me entirely new prospects of health and self-esteem. Dr. Emory and his wonderful team from the consultation to the post-op appointments showed that perfect balance of compassion, sensitivity, and professionalism. At the consultation I knew I was in the right place when he demonstrated how safety in my recovery was most important, for example, the seriousness he takes in preventing blood clots. At my pre-op appointment as he was examining my abdomen, he told me (I’m paraphrasing) how this would be a relief for me, [to be unburdened of the excess skin in my lower abdomen and given a stronger core.] He was correct, it has been a huge relief. Operation day, the surgical team were incredible, they helped me feel completely at ease and we enjoyed some light-hearted humor together. Dr. Emory laser focus as he made his markings on my body made me feel like a rock he was going to chisel into art. His attention to modesty was also notable. My healing went without complication. My scar is beautifully flat and placed in a way that I can cover it well. The pictures below show me days after surgery, close-ups of my scar at around 4 weeks when the tape came off, and two days ago wearing my very first bikini in my 34 years. I do not have any pictures of before but I had loose skin from 65lbs weight loss, a lifetime of being too heavy, a hernia where my gallbladder was removed, and two separate horizontal c-section scars. I still have a little swelling left of course, but I have already enjoyed my results for weeks and I look forward to continued improvement. Although I still have some health and body goals left to reach, this surgery has given me a stronger and more comfortable body to get me to those goals. I had a tt, mr, ba with another surgeon in VB. After my drains were removed I began bleeding from an artery in my abdomen and needed rushed surgery to repair it. Dr. Emory was the on call ps at the hospital I was at (my surgeon was 1.5 hrs away) and Dr. Emory reopened me, took care of the bleeds, drained the clotted blood and put in a new drain for me. As an added bonus, I noticed that my belly button also looked much improved after Dr Emory restitched compared to how it looked after my surgery initially with the other surgeon. I feel very blessed that Dr.Emory was on call when I needed a ps asap.

I cannot express how grateful I am to Dr. Emory. Let me begin by stating that the results from my abdominal procedure were so much better than I could have ever hoped for. I visited several doctors to find out what options I might have. And I knew right away, he "got it." and was intuitive about my issues. I have lived with a wide and lengthy scar from exploratory surgery for more than 30 years and in the last few years, weight loss and aging skin had produced a lot of extra skin that would not go away along with the scar. Dr. Emory fixed both in a manner that I could have only hoped for in a perfect scenario. Living in a nearby state, I had never met him before, but I knew ten minutes after speaking with him, that he was the right choice. In total honestly, he is a talented surgeon who has an eye for perfection, the talent and patience to make it right and a caring demeanor to boot.
