Best Doctor, Fairest Prices - Virginia Beach, VA

His fantastic esthetician, Stephanie Dillman, who also does amazing work, I have been treated by Dr. Oppenheim for over 5 years for skin conditions and cosmetic procedures. There isn't another doctor or staff the treats you so much like family and goes above and beyond for you, I recommend Dr. Oppenheim to all my friends for all dermatology and cosmetic procedures because he is simply the best!

Dr. O is the Best Dermatologist Around! - Virginia Beach, VA

Friends highly recommended Dr. O! Dr. Oppenheim is hands down the best dermatologist in Hampton Roads. As a patient for over 3 years, I am continually impressed with his knowledge and expertise on all the latest skin care technology and his kind and professional manner. His Esthetican Stephanie Dillman is amazing, and is an added complement to his wonderful office. I trust Dr. Oppenheim with my health and well-being as I have had several skin cancer scares due to over exposure to the sun and he has treated all successfully with little to no downtime. Many folks comment that I am actually looking younger than older which as a woman in my mid-40's is always an ego boost. My children are treated by Dr. Oppenheim and I have recommended many satisfied friends to his office. If you have ANY skin care concerns, please do yourself a favor and go see Dr. Oppenheim!

Very Happy with the Results! - Virginia Beach, VA

Since my constant squinting in the sun has caused furrows to form between my eyes, not to mention the stress headaches I would get from it, I decided to try Botox. Dr. Oppenheim did a great job! I don't look like a deer in the head lights, but it has made a difference regarding my appearance and I'm not suffering from headaches as often on bright sunny days. If I do it again, I may get a...

Country Doctor Demeanor with World Class Expertise - Virginia Beach, VA

I originally selected Dr. Oppenheim because he was an "in network" provider. I've had different insurance carriers over the years, but I still go to him whether he's "in network" or not. Most recently I visited him for a couple cherry angiomas. He had an intern working with him and he was very generous with his time. He consulted with her and in the process taught the intern (and me) a lot about what commonly causes these red dots, as well as some less common causes and their presence being possible indicators of more serious conditions. He's a recognized authority in diseases of the skin and has been published in several medical journals. I've been a patient of Dr. Oppenheim for close to 10 years. He's removed moles, treated skin rashes, given me a few botox treatments, and I can't say enough good things about him. He's friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly an expert in his field. What do I wish I knew beforehand? That we had such a great practitioner right here in Va Beach.

Why Did I Wait So Long - Virginia Beach, VA

Very sweet doctor, he does have resident's with him since he is a fellow with medical school. He comes from a family of doctors in the boston area but he relocated here to be close to his wife's family.

I Look 10 Years Younger!! Thank You Va Beach Dermatology!! Virginia Beach, VA

I was referred to Dr. Oppenheim by a close friend who said he was "magic" when it came to making you look younger. I had a severe frown line between my brows that made me look so old in pictures and i couldn't take it anymore! The lines above and around my lips were so deep that i felt like i was a 45 year old woman with a 100 year old woman's wrinkles!! Dr. O to the rescue!! With botox...

Uneven Botox. Virginia Beach, VA

I have had Botox done before and was very happy with the results. The doctor took the time to talk to me about where and how much he would inject and why, particularly in relation to my concerns and goals. Dr. Oppenheim literally walked in the room and said, "where do you want it?" He then proceeded to yell to his assistant in the other room how many cc's to prepare and walked in the other room to talk to someone about sports or something. I almost walked out then and there. When he came back in I began talking about my concerns and goals, after mind you he had already decided my treatment plan. In the end, I would have forgiven his terrible patient care had I been happy with the results. I have very uneven placement, where my left eyebrow forms into the "Botox joker brow" and my right eyebrow sits low. I do not feel like he took time to understand what I wanted out of the treatment, did not do due diligence on individualizing placement to my muscular structure, and ultimately did not even evenly distribute/place what he haphazardly injected in my face.

Azelaic Acid for Acne

At the recent Congress of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, Dr. Anja Thielitz presented a study which showed that Adapelene 0.1% gel ( Differin gel) and Azelaic Acid 15% gel ( Finacea) were equivalent in controlling acne. This was a three armed study, with one arm being the placebo. Azelaic Acid gel was used twice a day and Adapelene once a day. They both proved to be equally effective in reducing inflammatory ( pustules and cysts) and non-inflammatory ( open and closed...

AMLA

Many of you have heard of the topical anesthetic cream EMLA. Let me introduce some of you to the marvelous Hindi product Amla, also known by its Western name of Emblica. Also known as the Indian gooseberry, Amla has shown great potential as a skin care ingredient. It boasts antiaging, hypopigmenting and sunscreen properties. Amla is a great source of Vitamin C and also is loaded with tannins and flavanoids giving it a strong antioxidant punch. Amla has been a cornerstone in...

MAGGOTTS AS HEROES

Those who remember the Dirty Dozen can recall one of the greatest drawn cinema characters ever, the misogynistic psychopath, Archer Maggott. Maggott was sprung from prison and placed in a position to become a hero. His own pathologic attitude toward women got in the way and he was gunned down in the crucial battle scene. Now we have a different sort of maggot, who seem to be turning out to be heroic figures: fly larvae. Yes, the same fly larvae, that shows up with great frequency...

L Carnitine for Oily Skin

A study out of Hamburg Germany shows that treating the sebaceous glands with L carnitine can cut down on sebum production. Using a pig model, topically applied L-Carnitine significantly augmented B oxidation and decreased the lipid content of the sebaceous glands, which are the faucets releasing our skin oils. According to Professor Helmut Tilsch, L-Canitine may represent a major treatment advance in people having oily skin. L-Carnitine also is considered neuroprotective, has an...

Possible Revolution in Skin Care

An article in the latest issue of the Archives of Dermatology describes a novel microneedle device. This devices is composed of an array of fine needles whose depths penetrates the epidermis, but no further. It has a disposable head. In the study published the device appears to be safe, effective and nearly painless. The idea has been around for years. Many of you have probably heard of the Dermaroller. This is a similar device. However, the concept behind this is to damage the dermis....
