Are you a patient of John W. Zinsser, MD?
5 out of 5 stars Breast Reconstruction
I felt comfortable with him, compared to all the other plastic surgeons i had consultatons with. Dr. Zinsser is "awesome"! I have been his patient since 2011, for major breast reconstruction and he has done a phenomonal job! He is friendly, knowledgable and has a great bed side manner. He works with the patient, to know what will best suit their need and situation. Great plastic surgeon!!! Will definitely refer friends and family in the Richmond area.

I first found him when I was searching for doctors online. He stuck out to me because of his unbelievable pictures! He has a wonderful personality and seems to be a great doctor.
5 out of 5 stars Mini Lift
I had a mini face lift and my immediate results were great. Looked 10 years younger but scaring around the ears limited hair style and withing 4 years I saw the same "droopiness" on my upper eyelids and jowling. For the money, I would recommend MiXto laser FIRST and see if you get the results for A lot less. I guess it depends on how severely you need it but the laser seemed to tighten , get...

5 out of 5 stars Body Lift
I cannot speak highly enough about Dr. Zinsser. I felt that he was exceptionally concerned with my opinion and perceived problem areas. The amount of skin removed was very great and the end sculpture is very acceptable to me. It was very clear at every step that my happiness with the result was very important to him. His facility and staff are excellent as well. He is competitively priced as well. I have told many people my story and sent them to Dr. Zinsser.
2 out of 5 stars Arm Lift
Dr Zinsser and his office staff were very nice before the procedure. Turned very different afterwards, especially when things were going badly in my recovery. Dr Zinsser became very dismissive of my concerns and questions. The nurse was apathetic, uncaring.....
5 out of 5 stars Tummy Tuck
No complaints. He was nice and curtious and made sure that you knew exactly how the procedure went. I was very informed going into this.

5 out of 5 stars Breast Lift with Implants
I can't say enough good things about this doctor and his staff! They have all been great from the beginning. Dr. Zinsser is very easy to talk to, he took his time with me and answered all my questions. He called the day after my surgery and has always been available over email. His office manager Kristin was very helpful in answering all my questions (and I had a lot) and guiding me through the whole process. His nurse Melissa was also great to work with, again always answering my questions, calling me back and just making me feel at ease. I was worried it would be awkward but it never was. Everyone was really professional and friendly.
4 out of 5 stars FTM Chest Masculinization Surgery
Dr. Zinsser is one of only two surgeons in Richmond who perform this procedure, as far as I am aware. I ended up choosing him because he was cheaper and more experienced, and I don't regret the choice, but I liked the other guy's bedside manner more. Bedside manner is not necessarily a critical criterion for choosing a surgeon, since you want someone who can do the job well and you're not going to spend tons of time with them, but there are several follow-up visits for this surgery so it's something to think about. I always felt like Dr. Zinsser was in a rush with me, dismissive of my questions (which is reassuring in a way, I guess), handled me roughly and talked to the nurse across my body like I was not in the room. I do not at all think this is unique to him; rather, surgeons in general can forget that us mere mortals don't know everything they do and, yes, worry about unfamiliar occurrences in/on our bodies. (Not just surgeons, either, to be fair. The nurse at the hospital, wheeling me out to the car, pointed at a box of biowaste and cheerfully informed me that was my "samples.") The office staff are great; Esther, Melissa, and Kristen always know who I am and are very gracious and responsive, even with my tons of questions. However, I feel like there were a parade of small surprises every step of the way. I accept responsibility for not doing all the research I probably should have, but at the same time I would not necessarily have known what questions to ask. The post-op instructions I was given were partially copied-and-pasted from a different procedure and in some places contradictory, so were not as helpful as they could have been. I am satisfied with my care, and if I were to go back and do it again, I think I would make the same choice. But I might take more time to weigh the decision.
