Review of Dr. Schmelzer - Salt Lake City, UT

Wasn't feeling good about my body; specifically a breast augmentation that I had a few years ago. Went to see Dr. Schmelzer and he discussed in length with me what my options were. We were able to come up with a procedure that we both felt comfortable with. When the day of my procedure came, I was made to feel completely comfortable by all staff. Dr. Schmelzer was comforting and made sure that all of my questions were answered. The procedure was an absolute success and I couldn't be happier about the outcome!

Body Fx is Awesome - Salt Lake City, UT

I did the BodyFX treatment and on the first treatment i saw huge improvements on results. I can't wait to continue to do the rest. Was way less scary than a liposuction or surgical procedure. I just had the typical areas done.... tummy pooch, lovehandles, thighs and butt. The procedure caused a little tingling and got hot which was mildly uncomfortable at first but I got used to it. The results came about 1-2 weeks after and were gradual. MAKE SURE YOU TAKE A BEFORE PICTURE SO YOU CAN COMPARE RESULTS!!!

Lazer Hair Removal in Salt Lake City

I love this office AND this Doctor! From the second you enter their office, which is beyond gorgeous btw, you feel a great sense of comfort by their welcoming! I sometimes think that I work there because of how nice and inviting they are towards their patients. Its been newly remodeled and is very stunning!!I The office is very clean, which is a big deal to me because of the medical procedures going on there. I have had several things done in this office over the past couple years and have never had a bad experience! The staff and the Doctors are top notch!

Breast Reduction and Lift to Aid Lower Back Pain - Salt Lake City, UT

I had been considering a breast reduction for about a year before I met with Dr. Schmelzer and his staff. Having never had a single surgical procedure in my life, I was very leery of going under the knife- especially for a procedure that was not considered a medical necessity but was more cosmetic in nature. As an event planner, I execute anywhere from 20-40 weddings from May to October. In August, my lower back was killing me. I could barely get through a ten hour day on my feet, let alone lift boxes of heavy linens, center pieces and other items required to execute my events. I would spend the day following an event recuperating and icing my back. It was then that I decided to consult with my physician about the possibilities of a breast reduction. I was referred to Dr. Schmelzer. Before meeting with him, I had called his office with questions in mind. His staff was so friendly and helpful. I called at 4:45 on a Friday night and his receptionist (who was probably eager to start her weekend), spent 30 minutes on the phone with me answering all sorts of questions I had related to the cost of the procedure, what insurance typically did and did not cover, what my estimated out of pocket would be, what I could expect from the surgical procedure, how long recovery was estimated to be and so forth (I had LOTS of questions). She made me feel comfortable and wasn't in a hurry to get me off the phone. She spoke with me until all my questions had been answered. Because of this, I wasn't hesitant to move forward in booking a consult with Dr. Schmelzer. While still nervous about the surgery, upon meeting with Dr. Schmelzer and his staff, I no longer questioned or had doubts about moving forward and I approached my surgery date with confidence. I should mention that Dr. Schmelzer was very kind to work with my schedule as well. Due to the nature of my work, I had a small window of time where I could have the surgery with enough recovery time before my next event. The entire team was very accommodating and I felt good about the surgery date I was able to schedule. My recovery was exactly what I was informed it would be. Although uncomfortable for the first week with lots of redness and swelling, I didn't panic because I was well informed beforehand on what to expect. I knew exactly how soon I could shower and get my incisions wet, I had a fairly good idea of how long any numbness would last. I knew what level of activity I could resume and when. And when I had a small problem with one of my incisions not healing as quickly as the other, I was able to get in right away and meet with Dr. Schmelzer who walked me through some simple tips on how to treat it at home. I have nothing but great things to say about my experience. I know how difficult it can be to make the decision to have surgery and I also understand how uncertain one might feel trying to visualize the results of any body-altering procedure. My point is that Dr. Schmelzer and his staff helped me to make a very informed decision with confidence and they delivered to and exceeded my expectations. I would not hesitate to recommend the services of their team.

Protect Yourself!

I am sharing my story again after years of staying silent—silenced by fear, intimidation, and direct threats from this surgeon’s legal team warning me against speaking out. Today, I feel empowered to share the facts of my experience, not only because I’ve connected with others who endured similar outcomes, but because I believe in protecting future patients from going through what I did. Several years ago, I underwent surgery with this doctor. The results were devastating. I experienced: A year-long struggle with persistent infections Surgical openings that failed to heal properly A failed tummy tuck Continuous physical pain and emotional distress Despite reaching out multiple times during recovery with serious concerns, my issues were dismissed. I was made to feel that my worries were invalid and that protecting the surgeon’s reputation was prioritized over addressing my medical needs. I am including photos taken a full year post-surgery to document the extent of the complications. These are not immediate post-op results—this is how my body looked after a prolonged and painful healing process. The long-term impact: I’ve been quoted over $30,000 to correct the complications from the initial surgery I continue to live with physical scarring, and more deeply, with psychological harm including a loss of self-confidence and ongoing mental health challenges related to body image I have done everything I can to manage the aftermath—multiple scar treatments, second opinions, and emotional healing. But the damage remains. I am sharing this not out of anger, but from a place of responsibility. If even one person is able to avoid a similar experience by reading this, then speaking up is worth it. Please do your research. Consult multiple surgeons. Ask hard questions. And trust your instincts. You only get one body—protect it.

Still having complications - my sutures busted open twice

Worst experience I’ve ever encountered with any type of medical practitioner or just honestly a human being. I really don’t understand how this man is still practicing. He puts on a great front in his consults but once he has your money you mean nothing to him. No post op care no calls to check on you. When you have a post op emergency Dr.Schmelzer will be out of the office so you have to get help elsewhere. My sutures busted open twice, he didn’t have time to see me. When I complained of pain he talked down to me, ridiculed and treated me less than human. PLEASE DON’T GO HERE!! My last visit he said I was fine and nothing was wrong with me, I left and the next day my surgical site started bubbling up with fluid, I became extremely sick. I had to be put on antibiotics due to a staph infection. This man dismissed me!! Said I was fine it was neuropathic pain. He is a danger and should not be doing surgery. I’m still having complications and am going in for corrective surgery. SEEK TREATMENT ELSEWHERE!!! Do not risk your health to save money. Looking at other post his behavior has been just as disrespectful to other women.
