Post-Pregnancy Procedures
As rewarding as motherhood can be, it can take a significant toll on a woman’s body. Many mums strive to “bounce back” to their pre-pregnancy form, only to discover that it’s a long, difficult process that may prove to be impossible without surgical intervention. A mummy makeover combines a series of operations that amend multiple postpartum body changes at once, with a single recovery period. I customize each mummy makeover to the particular patient, but treatment plans often include breast enhancement via breast lift and/or breast implants, a tummy tuck, and liposuction. Breast Surgery
I specialize in breast enhancement, including breast augmentation, breast lifts, and breast reductions. Patients who come to me for breast augmentation usually fall into one of two categories: those who wish to enhance the size of their naturally small breasts and those who want to improve fullness after experiencing a deflation of their breasts after pregnancy or weight loss. While I most frequently perform breast augmentation, I frequently perform breast lifts to reposition sagging breasts, often adding fullness with implants. For those who want to reduce their breast size, I recommend a breast reduction to create a more proportionate, perkier bust and improve your overall comfort. However you desire to enhance your breasts, I can create natural-looking results that can help you realize your aesthetic goals.
Abdominoplasty
A tummy tuck eliminates excess skin and fat in the abdominal region while tightening the underlying abdominal muscles, to create a smoother, flatter, and more toned tummy. I often recommend the procedure after a patient has delivered a baby or lost a substantial amount of weight, leaving behind loose skin. In some cases, aging can cause skin laxity in the abdominal region as well. A tummy tuck can help improve your self-esteem, allow you to wear the clothing you desire with more confidence, and allow you to be more active. Dr. Sohail Akhtar is a General Medical Council certified plastic surgeon with over 20 years in practice. Specializing in plastic surgery for more than a decade, Dr. Akhtar performs a wide range of surgical procedures to improve the appearance of the breasts, body, and face. His greatest expertise lies in breast enhancement, tummy tucks, liposuction, and complete mommy makeovers.
Dr. Akhtar was first inspired to pursue a career in surgery while completing an elective placement in cardiac transplant surgery in London. After graduation from medical school at Liverpool University, he embarked on surgical training and was awarded membership into the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS).
He further honed his craft in cosmetic surgery with the National Health Service as a consultant plastic surgeon in Durham. He then became a consultant at the prestigious Wrightington Hospital in Lancashire, where he currently performs a wide range of plastic surgery procedures.
Beyond the NHS, Dr. Akhtar frequently performs cosmetic procedures in three CQC Certified hospitals: the BMI Highfield Hospital in Rochdale, North Manchester; the BMI Huddersfield Hospital in West Yorkshire; and the Wilmslow Hospital in Cheshire. He believes that the quality of the patient journey is as important as the result.
In addition to his plastic surgery practice, Dr. Akhtar is deeply involved with charitable medical aid. He provided emergency surgical relief in Pakistan after the devastating 2005 earthquake and he has gone on several charitable missions to Sierra Leone.
