Mommy makeover is a collection of procedures performed for women who have experienced changes to their body from pregnancy. It can include procedures to improve the appearance of the abdomen and breasts and to perform contour enhancements of the body.

Breast augmentation, breast lift (mastopexy), and breast reduction surgeries can be combined in a single operation or staged operations to achieve a final breast shape and volume that is youthful, aesthetically pleasing, proportionate to the rest of the body, and compatible with the lifestyle of the patient. Often when mastopexies are performed, the addition of a breast implant can add a desirable amount of fullness to the upper aspect of the breast that is not achievable by the mastopexies alone. The same is true for the combination of breast lift, breast implant, and breast reduction. Unlike a breast implant, natural breast tissue is prone to drooping with time and aging of the breast. A reduction of natural breast tissue combined with a breast lift and even a breast implant can achieve a final breast shape and volume that is full (but not excessively large), lifted, and proportionate to the rest of the body.

Abdominoplasty, or a “tummy tuck,” is the most common plastic surgery procedure used for men and women to flatten the stomach. During abdominoplasty, excess skin is removed from the middle and lower abdomen, and the muscles of the abdominal wall are tightened. Women whose stomach muscles have become stretched after pregnancy or who have lost a large amount of weight are candidates for the tummy tuck procedure. Men who find the “spare tire” difficult to reduce also find relief from this procedure. Abdominoplasty is generally performed in one to two hours, with a recovery period of about one to two weeks. Abdominoplasty does result in a permanent scar, but Dr. Fortes can hide the scar below the bikini line.
