I had the prescribed three MonaLisa Touch treatments, plus one final treatment without cost, performed by Dr. Melanie Ornstein and Elin Raymond. My primary problems were painful intercourse, urinary urgency and lichen sclerosus, which was also very painful. By the third treatment, I was much improved and my GP, who originally diagnosed the lichen sclerosus said "It's like you never had it," when she examined me. I'm very glad I had the treatments and I believe they made a significant difference. This isn't a cure, and if you are like me, you'll still have symptoms. I still use the estradiol vaginal ring (estring) and use lubrication but things feel much better for me and my partner. There is still some discomfort but far less than before. I really appreciated the care I received from Drs. Ornstein and Raymond, who answered all my questions. It's an expensive treatment but, in my opinion, worth it for the relief it brought. The laser was almost painless, just a couple of areas were extra sensitive but it hardly hurt at all, with only minimal discomfort for about 8 hours after the treatment, sort of like a sunburn feeling.

Caring, knowledgeable and professional - an amazing experience with a team of doctors who all took interest in my comfort and safety. The laser treatment was a little uncomfortable, and it took a day for the affected tissue to be comfortable enough to get back to my normal work/home routine. I was given lots of information and good preparation before the procedure, and the same post-procedure, with a phone call at home to see how I was recovering. Protective googles were worn by myself and the doctor(s). After a full course of laser treatment my skin is no longer tearing when I change positions, I can wear tight jeans, and at last being close to my life-partner includes painfree sexual intimacy for the first time in 3 years.

I found the OpenArmsOb/gyn practice to be welcoming and professional. The Mona Lisa Touch procedures were well explained, comfortable and effective. My vagina literally felt a decade younger. Quite the gift to experience in your late seventies!
