I went to Dr Chiao obese and very nervous. He was non judgmental and never shamed me for my weight. We went through the options and decided on the sleeve. Any time I called he got back to me. He has a 24 Bariactric hot line and I've used it at various times. His bedside manor is lovely. He's professional while still being a human being. I lost 90lbs in less than a year after his surgery and following his plan. He also provides maxing after care. He schedules testing months after just o make sure all is ok. If you are looking into this process I highly suggest my dr. My primary dr was so callus and literally said to me "you are not that big". I felt no shame or judgement from dr Chiao.

I had emergency subpartial (or was it subtotal?) gastrectomy in August 2015. I walked into the ER vomiting blood every 2-3 minutes. I don't remember what happened in the ER but I remember waking up to Dr. Chiao who informed me about having exploratory surgery. Went in thinking they were just poking around and ended up in the hospital for something bigger. Dr. Chiao was amazing. His bedside manner was just what I needed after what I went through. He truly listens to his patients. He and the team of surgeons in that OR saved my life. I am very grateful for them!
