I received an incisional double eyelid surgery from Dr. Choe about 2 months ago that I am very happy with. I originally had very fatty monolid eyelids with thick skin and small, “deep-set” eyes (my actual eyeball does not protrude out at all from my face unlike many East Asians, and thus you can’t see the contour of my eyeball through my skin), and was seeking a semi-outline double eyelid crease. I knew what I was looking for was ambitious so I wanted only the best, and was hoping to find it in the area without having to book a flight to Korea. I had consulted with a couple other doctors in NYC beforehand and immediately decided on Dr. Choe after the (free!) consultation— compared to the other consults I never felt rushed, he listened closely to what I was looking for, was very kind and knowledgeable, and offered an optimistic prospect. (Compare this to a different doctor nearby who 1. made me wait over 30 minutes past my appointment time, 2. said only a very subtle in-line crease was possible, 3. degraded me by saying my eyes were like “little peas on a dinner plate”, and 4. on top of that I had to pay $200 for just the consult. Bleh.) After arriving for my procedure, I signed paperwork and was given aftercare instructions by Christina (the sweetest person ever btw). I was very anxious going into the surgery but there was no need to be. About 30 minutes prior to going into surgery I was given a Valium to help soothe my nerves. Right when I laid down for surgery Dr. Choe also administered some kind of a twilight sedation injection in my arm that kept me awake but in a “dreamy” state (I was able to talk to the doctor and Sharon the nurse the entire operation but felt warm, fuzzy, and relaxed the whole time). Finally, he also administered local anesthetic injections to the eye area. By the time I realized the operation had begun, he was already almost done stitching up my right eye. The left eye I was more aware of him working on, but at most there were only a couple of pricks from the stitches being placed I would describe as feeling painful. Dr. Choe apparently uses some kind of “laser” tool that burns away the excess fat in the eyelid, which I would generally freak out at, but because of the sedation all I could think was that it smelled like grilled octopus lol. No pain or sensation from it whatsoever. And then it was done! All in all I think the operation took about an hour or less. It was clear that this efficiency was a result of Dr Choe’s decades of experience. Christina guided me to a room to recover in for 30 or so minutes after the surgery, then handed me off to my boyfriend for pickup, also giving him the aftercare instructions to help me out with. I had ice packs on and off my eyes for the rest of the day and into the following morning. There was definitely soreness for the first day, and the worst of the swelling was on the 2nd-3rd day, but there was hardly any "real" pain. There was a fair amount of bruising but honestly not as badly as I expected. I was able to go outside wearing sunglasses by day 3 but the bruising could have easily been passed off as (bad) eyeshadow. I was told to try and keep my eyes wide open as much as possible to help the crease form, even though the swelling made it hard to do so. After 1 week I went back in to get my stitches removed. I definitely healed relatively fast— I feel like a majority of my swelling went down by the 4th/5th day, and the bruising was gone by the end of the 2nd week. YMMV. Almost 3 months post-op now, I am still very happy with my results. It is a natural look that I feel the average person would never be able to guess I wasn’t born with. It dramatically changes the way I can do my makeup. For instance, I’m no longer going through piles of eyeliner just to get it to show up. If I HAD to complain about something it would be that there is some asymmetry in the way the creases fold, but again I feel this is hardly noticeable unless you’re looking for it, and all eyelids are naturally asymmetrical to begin with. My mom did lower eyelid surgery with Dr. Choe about 10 years ago and very happy with the result. She recommended hiim to me because I wanted to do breast augmentation surgery that I waited for a long time. The appointment was very easy to make. Consultation with Dr. Choe was amazing; he walked me thru the steps and explained the procedures in a clear manner. After the consultation, I decided to go ahead with breast surgery. Even the staffs at the office were great too and made easier for me to prepare for my surgery. They held my hands when I was so nervous (especially on the day of surgery!!). I really appreciate that the team followed up with me couple times after the surgery. Today was my 1 month post-op and I am soooooo happy with the outcome. I cannot wait to wear bathing suits for this summer. Choosing Dr. Choe as my surgeon was best decision and I would definitely recommend him to my friends as well!!

I had the best experience with this doctor and his office. My surgery has honestly been life-changing for the better. I did a ton of research, and I knew this doctor was just the best. His name kept coming up (in a positive way, of course), and he had better reviews & before/after photos than the other doctors on my list. Dr. Choe was so nice and answered all my questions and concerns. What I liked most about him as a surgeon was how meticulously precise he was. His staff was also amazing, especially one nurse (I think it’s his main nurse; I forget her name, sorry). 10/10, highly recommend him.

Dr. Choe had done my upper eyelid surgery. During the consultation, the doctor thoroughly explained the process. The surgery itself was painless. His medical team called me the same night (after the surgery), as well as the following morning. Dr. Choe and his medical team were professional, caring, and thorough. I am pleased with the results, i.e. makeup is much easier to apply.

I went for a consultation some time ago and I must say he was really sweet and informative. I've met two of his clients and his work was amazing. A little nervous about pricing, a bit high which has still made me a bit on edge to just jump in and committing but I have yet to find anyone's work whose resembles his.

totally recommend Dr. Choe if you're looking for asian double eyelid surgery in NYC. very kind and offers great advice. he plays any type of music during the surgery and talks to you to help you feel relaxed. his staff is also great and helped the process go smoothly! they called often post surgery to make sure i was ok!

His professional bedside manners, seasoned experience, gentleness, warmth, kindness and authenticity, and his team's service- and detail-oriented attitudes made this entire process so unbelievably easy, so pain-free. The results are incredible.

This was my first plastic surgery, but Dr. Eric Choe made this experience far from nerve-racking. In fact, from my consultation to post surgery follow-ups, I've only felt reassured, supported, and heard. I had contemplated getting this procedure done for a decade, so I knew I was ready to commit. I'm just happy Dr. Eric Choe was my doctor for the job. He is someone who prioritized my wellbeing, asked me questions to confirm that I wanted this procedure done for myself, and made sure to inform me of his availability if I had any questions or concerns. Patient experience is equally as important as the results and I give five stars to both experience and results. I highly recommend Dr. Eric Choe for those who have been wanting to get a procedure done, but have been unsure with who to rely on for the procedure.

This was my second eyid surgery by Dr Choe. I am very pleased with my both results. I also had my under eye bags removed and I love how they looks now. It has been only a month and still have some discomfort and scar tissues. I cant wait to see when I'm completely healed.

He was really nice, made me feel comfortable enough for me to ask all questions i had about my eyelid surgery. All the staffs were very through in giving me detailed instructions before&after the surgery about dos and don’ts. They said i can call anytime if i have a question& something happen and i was given a phone number. I did double eyelid surgery and its still bit puffy so i would have to wait a bit but i like it so far. I would recommend here for eyelid surgery and should go for a consultation since its free.
