I am an 18 year old male and suffered with breathing for a few years now. In addition the cartilage on my nose had grown deformed and was protruding. I also had a wide bridge that did not fit my face. My parents researched plastic surgeons and stressed that they wanted a surgeon who only works on the face. Dr. Horn was a perfect fit not only was she a facial plastic surgeon but an ENT as well. Upon my first meeting with Dr. Horn she discussed my concerns and gave me different options which I appreciated. My largest concern was the breathing and the protruding cartilage. She showed me what the procedure would look like and also in addition correcting the wide bridge. My first impression with Dr. Horn was that she was a capable professional who spoke calmly and patiently and explained everything to me including answering all my questions. She is more on the conservative side- my parents and I were very concerned about not looking like a different person and just correcting the problems and giving me a natural look. She stressed she wanted me to go home and discuss everything with my family and gave me the time to correspond with her surgical coordinator with any questions or concerns that we had. I ultimately decided to book the surgery for the end of June. I chose to do all three procedures as my hope was not to revisit this again in the future although I am aware that is always a possibility. The day of surgery went really well. Dr Horn was very patient with me as I was quite nervous. My recovery went really well I had a small amount of bruising underneath one of my eyes but other than that it was very minimal bruising. I closely followed all of her instructions post surgery including cleaning icing changing bandages etc. One week later I went to her office to have my stitches and cast removed. All I know is I wish I could have videotaped my parents faces! We all could not believe how unbelievable the results were! Not only was the bump removed but the bridge was slightly narrower and even a week out of surgery my nose looked unbelievable. It’s about six weeks out and my nose continues to improve every day. Dr. Horn was very pleased at my second check up. I know that there is still some interior swelling but I am already breathing better than I was prior to surgery. I now understand now why it was so important to have a plastic surgeon trained in the ENT field especially when you are doing a correction for breathing in addition to cosmetic fixes. I highly recommend Dr Horn for a Rhinoplasty whether for breathing concerns and/or cosmetic improvements. I am starting college in the fall and feel confident in the way I look and feel!
