38 Post Baby Belly Fat! - Morristown, NJ

The person who performed the procedure is an aesthician and not Dr Shmid, however he is the one who conducts the follow up later on. I believe this is common practice in other surgeries also

5 out of 5 stars Breast Reconstruction

51 Year Old, Breast Cancer: Nipple Sparing Mastectomy in Jan 2015 (W/ Expander), Reconstruction in April 2015 - Summit, NJ

Dr. Schmid is an awesome surgeon. Not only is he skilled, but his super peaceful confident demeanor - put me at ease. It was my first surgery, and first time with general anesthesia, and he patiently listened to all of my questions, and provided answers which alleviated my concerns. By the time surgery time arrived - I was peaceful too, and things went very well.

5 out of 5 stars Breast Reconstruction

Breast Cancer, IDC; Bi-Lateral Mastectomy - Berkeley Heights, NJ

Dr. Schmid possesses a wealth of knowledge, professionalism, a sense of humor and a very calm demeanor, which I found comforting while dealing with my breast cancer diagnosis. He and his nurse, Michelle, were excellent at managing my care and guiding me through the entire breast reconstruction process.

38 Year Old/Nipple Sparing Double Mastectomy/Expanders with Reconstruction. Berkley Heights, NJ

I walked into Dr. Schmid's office in January of 2015 scared, nervous, and in need of answers to all of my questions. I was diagnosed on Dec 21st 2014, with DCIS/non invasive in my left breast (Dr Winnie Pollen, Breast Surgeon, Summit Medical Group). My mother passed away at the age of 52 from ovarian, and my aunt at the age of 40 from breast. Before my Mother's passing in 2011, we had a conversation in regards to what our decision would be if either of us were ever diagnosed. When I was given the news, I was 95% sure of my decision due to that conversation with my late Mother. It was like she was giving me her blessing from above. When Dr. Dan Schmid, walked into the room he could tell instantly that I was overcome with fear, and had a million questions running through my head. I let him know my family history, and he calmed my fears right away. He went through my entire list of questions, one by one, and gave me complete detailed answers. This was a huge decision, and after first meeting with him, I knew I wanted him to be a part of my team. He performed two surgeries, surgery #1 was the Nipple Sparing Mastectomy/insertion of tissue expanders in which he partnered with Dr. Pollen (2/12/15) , surgery #2 the expanders were replaced with silicone implants (5/14/15). During both surgeries, Dr. Schmid understood my fears, but always reminded me that I will make it through the rough times. Yes, he performed this surgery hundreds of times, but for me it was my first, and he was very aware of this, and always offered me the reassurance I needed. There was one instance, I remember after the first surgery where I couldn't calm down, Dr. Schmid just held my hand and we took a few deep breaths together, and it really helped. He understands that this isn't easy, and his bedside manner is extraordinary. I am about three weeks post op, and I am thrilled with the results. I am absolutely amazed at how natural both of my breast look and feel. I am just getting back to my normal life now, but could not have gotten here without the support of Dr. Schmid and his wonderful staff (Nurse Michelle). I will forever be grateful for his expertise and support.
