Terence Michael Myckatyn, MD

Dr. Myckatyn was my surgeon for breast cancer reconstruction. The day I saw my surgeon, Dr. Myckatyn worked me into his busy schedule and spent a lot of time explaining my options and expected results from breast reconstruction. He is a very professional empathic doctor and he did an awesome job. He always made me feel comfortable. He has a good sense of humor and is always smiling. Despite being diagnosed with breast cancer the breast reconstruction has given me some self confidence that I look normal in my clothes. West County Plastic Surgeons are the best. I chose them because my breast cancer surgeon recommended Dr. Myckatyn. I had open heart surgery at Barnes almost 2 years to the day before my mastectomy and wanted to have my mastectomy there too. The staff at West County has always been polite and helpful. I would recommend West County Plastic Surgeons for any procedure they offer. Thank you Dr. Myckatyn for an awesome job and being there during a difficult time in my life.

He performed a diep tram flap on me. I was immediately comfortable with him on my very first visit to his office. He is extremely kind and absolutely brilliant. I would recommend Dr Myckatyn and his team to everyone.

Dr. M is a pretty awesome guy! I had capsular contracture from a breast reconstruction surgery done 15 years ago as a result of a childhood heart surgery that damaged my left breast and it never developed. I went through all kinds of hell with the surgeries prior to meeting him. He was kind, sympathetic, and was ready to accept the challenge. 5th time was a charm. Dr. M replaced my hard saline implants with the gummy bear. It's such an improvement! They feel natural and my chest looks better that it ever has. His office staff was great too. I highly recommend him!

Great experience with Ultherapy! It was not too painful, because they put numbing cream on the areas treated, so very tolerable. After three months I can already see results and am very happy with the way my skin looks. It is subtle but definitely an improvement - exactly what I wanted. I would highly recommend it to others!

I am a 47 year old mother of two, 5’2 inches, 165 lbs. I had fat transferred to my butt, AKA BBL, or Brazilian butt lift. I wanted to do this in combination with an extended tummy tuck, but was encouraged by my physician to do two separate procedures. I’m really glad I listened to him. During the procedure, he removed 4 liters (can you believe it) of fat, a total of 8 lbs. I’ve since learned from research that 8 lbs is the most that can be safely removed during any one liposuction procedure. Two liters were removed from the abdominal area, 750cc’s from each flank area aka love handles, and 250cc’s from the back of each thigh. From this removed fat he injected 750cc’s into each buttock and a small portion into some wrinkles in my chin area. The pain from the liposuction was extremely bad. I have a very high tolerance for pain and let me tell you, IT IS BAD. But it is SO worth it. I didn’t feel any pain in the abdominal area, and didn’t even realize I had a stitch in my belly button until 2 weeks after the procedure when I went in for a post op visit. They probably told me after the procedure, but I was so out of it, I didn’t recall. I do recall waking up in recovery to intense pain in my abdomen, but that was gone after a couple of hours and never returned. I did, however have intense pain in my lower back and flank areas, and also the backs of my thighs, but only when I was moving around or if I had to sit for any reason, like going to the restroom. As long as I laid on my stomach, there was no pain. Getting up and down, however, was excruciatingly painful for the first 4-6 days and gradually subsided. There was also a lot of swelling, lots and lots of swelling. I felt like my bottom weighed 100 lbs for about 2 weeks. I did sit on it some, but not too much, during the first 4 weeks. I’ve read numerous stories online about it. Some say absolutely do not sit on it at all, others say if the procedure is done properly, it doesn’t matter. I was told to try to refrain from it as much as possible, so that’s what I did. I didn’t have to worry too much about it because I was so sore from the liposuction that I couldn’t sit on it much. There is a huge difference in before and after and it looks fabulous. I was told that 40-80% of the fat injected will take. In order to know the final result, I have to wait 1 year. Anything after that is mine forever. It has been 4 weeks and so far, and I have to say that I am extremely satisfied. 4 and ½ weeks after the BBL, I had an extended tummy tuck. That was 5 days ago, and I think I am recuperating nicely. I can get up and walk around, I can also go for a short walk. I now understand why my doctor recommended I have two separate procedures. I cannot lie flat or on my stomach and have trouble laying on my side. Also, I needed the fat that was removed to give me the ultimate results for the bbl. I have a lot of swelling and still have the drain tubes from the tummy tuck so I can’t really give an opinion on it yet but I do know that my doctor made the right decision in telling me not to have them at the same time.

7 Days Post Op This site has been so helpful during my journey so I wanted to share my experience in hopes that I can be of help to others. My insurance approved me for hernia and muscle repair so I opted to pay extra for the “tummy tuck” portion of the surgery. The only downfall to this was that I was limited to my choice of Plastic Surgeons. I had several consultations with many doctors and while I am happy with my choice I can’t honestly say I would have chosen him if I could have picked from all of them out there. So far things have been good and uneventful, but I am really concerned with my bunched up and pleated scar. I know it is too early to see the true outcome, but I don’t see anyone else on here with a scar similar to mine. I also think my bellybutton is kind of low. I am trying not to be so negative, but I was supposed to have a post-op appointment today but it was cancelled at the last minute due to an unexpected emergency. I was really hoping to get one or both of these stupid drains removed and now I have to wait until Monday. Grrrr…. Updated on 16 Sep 2012: 9 Days Post Op: Okay, so I am going to try and be positive for a bit. I am feeling a lot better today. I am walking upright a little more, I am not as sore and I seem to have more energy. I really miss picking up my 22 month old son. This whole experience has been such an emotional roller coaster ride. I think that once these drains are out I will feel somewhat normal again. These things are so annoying and they keep pulling and tugging on my skin... ouch! Hopefully tomorrow one or both can be removed. Fingers crossed.... I'm going to try and take some new pics either today or tomorrow. Updated on 8 Jun 2013: I don't have much time to write but I just wanted to post some recent pics. I'll have to take some of my scar, but I am really happy with my outcome. This site was such a help for me and I hope that my photos and reviews can help someone else out. I'll be back later to write more.

Doctor doesn't really listen to his patients. The symmetry is terrible due to doctors negligence. Doctor has literally failed me in every way across the board. I feel like he could've done much better potentially. Just did a half-ass job. I paid for quality care not this crap.

First results of the procedure were a fail so Dr. Myckatyn agreed to fix it for a lower cost. I had fat removed from flanks & bra strap again to see better results and also inner thighs to have more fat to inject into my buttocks. Surgery went well. Recovered quicker than the 1st surgery. Back to working out (boot camp) in a month. Waist was a lot more defined the 2nd time around, but my stomach is still very large. Same size as pre liposuction. My butt started out looking okay, but has recently started to flatten out again (3 months post op). Very sad that the results aren't lasting. I wasted a lot of money. I go to another post op in a month and will post an update on how it goes. Updated on 29 Dec 2015: I am happy with my smaller waist. Still wish my butt was more rounded, but it looks bigger & rounder in my clothes with a smaller waistline.
