Unethical and Unprofessional

Dr. Askari caused me orthodontic harm and abandoned me as a patient as a result, despite having 8 more months as her patient. I became her patient at Gentle Dental after a consultation for braces, in which she informed me it was possible but not guaranteed braces could alleviate the headaches I was getting from grinding. I have since discovered through outside medical consultation that braces and rubber bands cannot cure jaw grinding. The treatment for grinding is a mouth guard. My jaw grinding continued while wearing the braces and rubber bands, which created a lot of muscle tension, and made my new fillings extremely painful. Eating every day became an ordeal. Thus, I tried several times to address my health concerns to her but she was either distracted, discussing her sister and kickboxing classes, or unavailable for appointment. After these failed attempts, I left a negative Yelp review on October 4th. As a result, on October 18th,2016, Dr. Askari instructed me I had no choice but to remove the braces with no explanation as to why or an acknowledgement and explanation for my new symptoms. No x-ray was conducted to track my progress. Instead, I was given an invalid form to sign that stated, " Dr. Askari warned me of all negative consequences prior to the removal of my braces," after my braces had been removed. I was also refused access to my medical records for four months and denied medical care, despite having 8 more months as her patient, according to my contract. When I was finally given my medical records through the mail, I was finally informed of the possibility of having permanent nerve damage. What an inhumane way of discovering such permanent and detrimental information about your health! Dr. Askari is immoral and unethical. Instead of evaluating and diagnosing me herself, and referring me to the appropriate specialists, like a respectable physician, she decided to protect herself from potential consequences through deceit and evasiveness.
