Screw retained vs. cement retained....... That is the question!

	The answer is dependent on so many factors like the amount of available bone, the condition of the adjacent teeth, the length of the adjacent teeth etc. In a "normal" case, I would always opt for a well made ceramic cement on as there are many ways to ensure that there is no excess cement when performed by a trained implant dentist. It is difficult to know who this is. My suggestion is to work with a board certified OMS who can refer you to a Prosthodontist trained in implant restorations to get the best results. Always ask to see real photos (see my web site) of their own patients.&nbsp;

For a Front Tooth Implant Which is Best? Screw Retained or Cement Retained?

If the implants were placed intraorlly, the 2 nd to 3rd week is the time infection can occur. Since there is some discharge, it should be sampled and sent for a culture to determine which bugs are growing on it. Tis is the best chance to salvage it as well as constant irrigation in the area of the incision with an antibiotic solution of Peridex 3 times a day. If it doesn&#39;t resolve by the 6th week it should be removed, allowed to heal and replaced after 4 to 6 months.

Summary: Medpor Mandibular Angle Implants intra-orally - both sides. Trouble only on one side. ==== Antibiotics 2 days before through 5 days post op (day 5). Slight oral discharge noticed day 16. Sudden significant swelling day 22. Clindamycin 300mg, 3/day, warm comps, day 23 to day 43. Continue warm comps day 44 thru 51, slight return of asym. Cold applied day 51. Overnight - noticeable asym, warm/cold applied today. Now close to sym again. Any guesses at the chance of needing removal?

Next after a real diagnosis has been made, your will be given options for treatment. Anything is possible for a craniofacial surgeon, the important thing is managing your expectations.

However, if this is something you wish to be corrected, it can! But, here is the way to go about it. first, you want to discuss your diagnosis and treatment plan with an orthodontist who has training in orthographic surgery. Next you want a referral to a qualified OMS surgeon, who has years of experience and facial cosmetic surgery training as well. Go for a consult and should have a CT Scan there to sow the assymmetry and then a real diagnosis can be made. You may need jaw or just chin surgery for the assymmetry. Your nose is a separate matter and should be addressed by a nasal surgeon who can deliver your expectations of a straighter nose and build up the nasal bridge. This is what I do every day, it is called treatment planning

Hello Basically I have a few questions... My jaw appears to be awkwardly asymmetric in the picture below few my Nose to chin and the angle it is at. Ive never seen anyone with this angle... and my nose Bridge doesnt connect with my Brow... which Ive also never seen before... I know my Ortho said I needed surgery but I never went through with it... As a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, I will perform both procedures at the same time. In my OR, you are treated as any hospital case and everything is completely sterile. I will usually place the MANDIBULAR and para nasal implants first, then the dental implants after a thorough intraoral rinse and swab with antibacterials. If you don&#39;t have the luxury of having someone who has the training in both, then do the facial implants first and wait at least 6 weeks to have the implants. Make sure your see board certifiied surgeons for both parts for the best outcome!!

Dental Implants First or After Facial Implants?

There a number of concerns you should have been aware of including why we do not usually place implants next to each other! When implants are placed next to each other, there is usually no papilla present because the architectural issues are different than when an implant is placed next to a natural tooth when the papillae is present due to the bone from the tooth. Next, an implant can be relocated by reopen inf the gum and performing an osteotomies to move it where you want if the implant is healed or in solid bone. It would be better to let #9 sleep and have your dentist create a tempory bridge with ovate pontics to form a better gum sculpture.

Long story short. Have had recommended bone grafting, crown lengthening, and gingival modification all to place implants for # 8,9,10. 8 and 9 implants appear too far apart and sculpted papillae is not lined up in center of upper jaw making placement of #10 difficult. Dentist would prefer to not have #10 implant placed as he feels outcome will be more cosmetically pleasing with a bridge. Appears there will be no papillae between 9-10 and 10-11. Future bone loss concerns me. Any comments?
