Dr. Eric Chang stands out for his exceptional combination of credentials and genuine compassion. After earning his medical degree from Columbia University and graduating magna cum laude from Yale, Dr. Chang completed a rigorous combined general and plastic sur
Had 3 consults with Dr. Chang before locking down a date for my glow up surgery ..and tbh I was sold after the first appt! The office secretaries and techs are so welcoming you are on first name bases by the end of the appt. They are organized, follow up with their patients pre/post op and throughout recovery process. Dr. Chang is highly skilled at his craft and goes above n beyond for his patients. He listens and doesn’t just tell you what you want to hear. This team exceeded my expectations and I am forever thankful.
I cannot recommend Dr. Chang enough. His office runs like clockwork. Every person involved is super kind, understanding, and cares about your needs. They were able to take a lot of the stress out of a major surgery because I knew I was in good hands. Everything from the first consultation, pre-op, day of, and post-op was great. But the post-op care is extra impressive to me. They put tremendous effort into making sure that all of your needs are met and your questions answered. The PA Josephine is so attentive and understanding of all concerns. And there is a priority phone line for any pressing concerns after surgery. Dr. Chang's work is also amazing. I am only about 5 weeks out from my surgery, but it looks better than I hoped. If you need any work done, I highly advise you to give Dr. Chang's office the chance to impress you..
After a lot of searching for surgeons and places that would accept my insurance, BCBS Mass, I found Dr. Chang at the Plastic Surgery Center in Jersey City, NJ. My initial consultation was great! He was quick and told me all the steps involved, how small he could get me, (I was a 36 GGG) and what recovery would look like. He answered all my questions and I really liked how respectful, friendly, and sweet he was. So I scheduled the surgery for about a month later and sent them the paperwork needed. Because of covid times, I had to go in and get blood work and a covid test two days before my procedure. My surgery date included a 6:30 am call time and I was brought back right away. I was given a gown and was told everything that would happen from there on out. Several doctors came and explained how the anesthesia would work and to make sure I didn’t have any questions. Everyone was so nice. I finally got wheeled back and immediately was given drugs to knock out. It took me about 3 hours to come out of the anesthesia and I don't remember much other than before I was discharged I was given some extra pain medication for relief. I was given a prescription for antibiotics and pain meds ahead of time too so those were already waiting for me at home. Dr. Chang and the nurses gave me and my partner instructions for recovery and made sure we totally understood before leaving.Recovery felt difficult. I couldn't lift anything or raise my arms up for about two weeks, so my partner helped a TON. Everything from helping me shower to getting me water and changing bandages. Sometimes I’d have really intense pain in my breasts but Dr. Chang said that was normal. I also had a stitch start coming out of my skin hurting a lot and I was immediately scheduled the next day to check it out—the nurse painlessly removed it!I had two follow up appointments post-surgery, one-two weeks after and another a month after that. Both follow-ups went great! My scars are lightening a lot and the pain is gone now. I got down to around a C or small D and feel so so much better. Because of my size, he also lifted my breasts, so I don't even wear a bra anymore and they look great! I couldn't be happier with the whole process and my results and highly recommended Dr. Chang if you are in the area.
I had a full tummy tuck and a breast reduction and lift in January. Words can't describe how i feel about my body now. I went to Dr. Chang hoping to fix my abdomen following an abdominal sugery which left a giant scar and 2 pregnancies which caused 4 hernias in my abdominal muscles, in addition to fixing my asymetrical breasts. Dr. Chang was very honest with me from the get go as to what i should expect during and after the surgery. The pictures will do a better job describing than words. Recovery was really tough the first week, it was way worse than a c-section... that is coming from a person who took no pain meds after a c-section, but then again it might have been caused by the muscle repair part of my tummy tuck. The total weight of fat/skin taken out was less than 3 pounds, but it made all the difference! I took a week off of work, and worked part time (from home) the second week. I was back to normal within a month. Standing up straight took 10 days. Drains were taken out within a week.
I first want to say Dr. Chang is highly skilled and very intelligible. I had a great experience with his staff and chose this office over a surgeon my family member went to. I love that he was so very honest in my two consultations telling me that he urged me to get the TT but said I am right in the middle so he is only doin the smart lipo because I still had good elasticity. He didn't give me false promises but told me if my goal is to look better in clothes and a softer silhouette then I will get that. My procedure went way better than most reviews. I only felt some stinging but actually laughed the entire hour and half. He said he's never had a patient thought it tickled before. Every patient has different pain levels for sure. I don't even know what my end result will be since it's only been a day but I wanted to rate him and his staff for the journey to get me there and my procedure. He has EXCEPTIONAL bedside manners and I already know I'm coming back.
I am still getting together my personal experience with Dr. Chang to type here. To start, he was an excellent doctor. I knew from the reviews here on Real Self, my extensive research and my initial consultation with him that I wanted him to do my Breast Reduction. I have reviewed numerous PS's and even considered going back to DR for the procedure, but I am so happy that I stayed stateside. Stay tuned for my review!
I was self conscious of my turkey neck and had been thinking about "fixing it" for some time. I think genetics must play a part, because my weight had always remained stable. I found it increasingly difficult to look in mirrors as I became fixated on this area. Enter a consultation with dr. Eric Chang, who sat with me with the dreaded mirror and truthfully answered each of my questions as to what to expect. He recommended a lower facelift/neck lift with incisions around the contours of the ear lobes and in hair line ( sideburns area) there were also incisions made behind the ears. Liposuction under chin was also recommended . Updated on 18 Apr 2014: Updated on 20 Apr 2014: Updated on 20 Apr 2014: Healing nicely I think Updated on 20 Apr 2014:
After having suffered for years with the pain of pendulous breasts - the back pain, the strap grooves worn in my shoulders, the skin problems - I decided to undergo a breast reduction. The surgery was a lot less painful than I had imagined, and recovery was pretty easy. I was back at work in a couple of weeks. This was a very difficult decision for me, as I wanted to have insurance cover it and they had certain parameters you have to meet. I had to interview my physicians carefully, since I wanted not only a nice job and a short scar done, but not to wake up with tiny breasts. (When insurance covers they have to take a certain amount of tissue.) In the end I was able to find someone I trusted to do the surgery who did a short scar based upon a breast lift and seemed to be able to promise when I was done I would be about a "C" cup, which was great b/c I'm a size 14 and a "B" cup or "A" cup would be dispropriately small on top. When it was done a few people noticed some "weight loss" but no one was able to pinpoint it. I also had to lose fifteen pounds so that they would cover the surgery. I did it all and when it was said and done the insurance company rejected the claim. Eventually, because I am familiar with insurance policy, I was able to get the insurance company to cover the physician's fee but not the facility fee. Finally I got the whole thing covered by sending a complaint to the Maryland Insurance Commission. So, some lessons: if you are getting estimates ask for the physician and facility fees. We had a very unexpected surprise in getting the facility fee bills sent to us almost immediately after insurance didn't pay and then having to fight with the hospital. I had the money to cover the physician fee but NOT the facility fee. Make sure you can cover the surgery if insurance won't cover it. I had followed all of their guidelines and they still found a loophole. I am very happy I did the surgery. Today I am able to do a lot of things I couldn't before including vigorous exercise (running, aerobics. etc.) and wear normal tops instead of big loose shirts all the time. I've joined a gym and have been able to maintain my lost weight.
I am so pleased with my breast augment, after having 2 children and breast feeding both, I was extremely self-conscience about their appearance in and out of clothes. My only wish is that I would have done this years ago, they look absolutely amazing!!
I wanted to look better!
