My journey started January 2020. I had had enough of my huge stomach after years of trying to shift it. Nothing had worked since having my third child, it just hung there. After suffering through another Christmas of feeling uncomfortable in my clothes and unhappy with my appearance i decided enough was enough.

It was time to consider the surgical route. I booked an initial consultation with a surgeon in Dublin. I had two consultations and after lots of effort contacting the surgeons secretary I finally secured my surgery date, August 2020! However, when I contacted the office with queries a few weeks out from surgery it took multiple follow ups to get a response.

My main query regarded after care as I live 3 hrs from the hospital. I was told to contact the A&E dept in the hospital! I would not have assistance from the surgeon or her office. As badly as I wanted this surgery I was not going to risk a complication without my doctors support. I knew that it would drive my anxiety through the roof pre op thinking about what I would do if something went wrong post op. So i cancelled.

On went the search. By chance, as life always works, a colleague in the medical field mentioned John Curran. She said if she was ever to get "anything done" john would be her first choice. I needed no further endorsement. I rang his office and spoke with the super professional Olivia. I would have a long wait for an appt but Olivia added my name to a cancellation list and i ended up with an appt two weeks later.

John is straight talking and down to earth. I trusted him straight away and felt at ease. This is a huge decision ladies you have got to trust your surgeon. I met John again a month later and booked my date January 2021! My experience with john was the complete opposite to the previous surgeon. Lots of communication, even emails from john directly, and someone always answered the phone when I rang the office! :0)

This is a totally professional outfit. The big day came. I was very very nervous. I travelled down the night before alone and stayed in a local hotel. FYI I rented a car from an enterprise rent a car where I live and dropped it to the branch in Tralee which was around the corner from the hotel. I arrived at the hospital the next morning and everything went so smoothly. John marked me up before surgery and reassured me. I was surprisingly calm! John text my husband after he finished surgery to tell him that all went well. Five star service! So I come around in recovery after surgery and I am vomiting my guts up. This never happened before in my life. I was so so sick.

This continued until the next day. The nurses were just fabulous and took fantastic care of me. Its my first time ever being in hospital where someone came the minute after you ring the bell! John came in that evening after his day in theatre to check on me and reassure me that everything went great. The next day I felt so rough. John had suggested when I was booking my surgery date to stay in a local hotel just in case anything went wrong.

Thank god I did as I would never have managed the journey home. I left hospital completely bent over, I felt as if I had been run over by a train. I could shuffle rather than walk and had difficulty getting up and down by myself but did manage the toilet alone. The next day we headed home, the journey was surprisingly fine! I am one tough cookie but I have to tell you honestly this is big surgery.

Don't take this decision lightly and prepare as best you can. My husband was fantastic and we had help with the kids. The pain was honestly fine, completely manageable. I would almost say I had none. The biggest problem was the lack of mobility and having zero energy. You will feel completely wrecked. Regarding aftercare, it was excellent. Saturday night after surgery I had a problem with my wound, I was worried about it and text john.

He was straight back to me and it turned out it was nothing to worry about. Danielle, his wound nurse, is just fabulous. She is always available, no question is a nuisance and again late one evening both herself and John were in text contact with me about an issue I was having with severe swelling. It took me two weeks before I could walk straight up. I was able to work a few hours from bed the first week and second week. The wound is perfect, my belly button is perfect.

John uses the drainless method and stitches your belly button from the inside so it looks great. I have had a smooth recovery and recommend the following: A good quality vitamin C; A good quality collagen powder to add to a smoothie. I had a spinach and pineapple smoothie for the first two weeks every day; High protein diet; A hand held massager, i got one for €15 and it is so worth it for massaging out swelling and lumps; A positive mindset.

The recovery is so short term compared with the incredible long term gain. You will have down days just get through it, it will pass. I feel so good now about my appearance. The difference is absolutely huge. I always adored clothes and am now excited about wearing them! I do not have a single regret and am so thrilled and grateful to have done this and to have picked the right surgeon. Good luck with your journeys!

From start to finish Mr. Curran was a pleasure to deal with. I can't thank him enough for building my body confidence and for finally giving me the cleavage I always dreamed of. All my life I was extremely flat-chested, I didn't even fill an A cup. I was completely out of proportion as I'm 5 10 with a broad shoulders and chest cavity. 

It took me a long time to work up the nerve to see him as I was extremely embarrassed by my predicament. Finally, at 41yrs I threw caution to the wind a booked a consultation. My 1st meeting went extremely well, within minutes I felt comfortable and at ease in his presents, he listened to my story and what I was looking for. He was sympathetic to my plight and was reassuring. 

When he examined me he agreed with me that I was out of proportion and that he could definitely help me. He explained in detail the procedure and the risks involved, he sent me away with a booklet explaining the procedure and an in-depth list of what could go wrong, and details of the recovery period. He advised me to read the material, do some research and make a follow-up app if I still wanted to go ahead. Make a follow-up app for a month later and signed the consent.

Forward a few months later I had the procedure. I was absolutely thrilled with the results. It really was beyond my wildest expectations, I went from having practically no breast tissue to a big C cup, when I say they look amazing, its an understatement. 

The confidence I gained from the procedure was fantastic, I could finally look at myself in the mirror and not cringe. My breasts are so pretty and after 15 months, I haven't looked back. Clothes look better, I got to throw away my heavily padded bras, and I feel attractive and feminine. I gained confidence in my relationship. I'm forever grateful to Mr. Curran and cannot help but sing his praises. He a top-rate Plastic Surgeon and he's a genuine kind, empathic gentleman.

I had breast reduction surgery on the 02/12/2019. From the moment I met Dr Curran, it was a positive experience, I went from a 32H to a 32D, he is patient, honest and sincere, I recommend you put your faith in him. His nurse Danielle is fantastic, available at all times to answer all those questions, you might deem silly. I have the best pair of boobs a girl could ask for, thank you DR Curran. If you are considering this procedure, and are on the fence, I can tell you honestly it is the best thing I have done for myself, DR Curran has given me my life back.

From beginning to end Mr Curran and his team provided me with a world class service. When I first met with Mr Curran my confidence levels were at an all time low. As I was only 19 years of age and having been embarrassed by my Gynecomastia (moobs) for such a long time, Mr Curran was more than understanding with my case. I'm young,fit and active and yet I had this huge problem that effected me in every respect. From being embarrassed in the changing room to avoiding swimming in the pool I did everything to disguise my problem. When I explained this, he was more than willing to help and gave me all the information I needed before the surgery. Six weeks post surgery, I am writing this review with my confidence levels restored and my problem has completely disappeared. The results are far better than I anticipated and my chest is now far more aesthetically pleasing. I am truly delighted with the results and I would highly recommended Mr Curran and his team as they are a class leading service

I honestly don’t know where to begin with reviewing John. From the very first meeting with him, I knew there was only going to be one surgeon for me. I was very unsure about whether or not I would go ahead with the surgery and also very uptight and self-conscious about having to even discuss the surgery and having to take off my clothes and show my excess skin. Within minutes of the first consultation John had made me feel so relaxed and comfortable. John creates an atmosphere that encourages free discussion sprinkled with light-hearted humour and general chit-chat, but always makes sure that there is complete honesty and transparency. There were no questions that were deemed silly or unnecessary no matter how often I asked them. John has real-life discussion with you - you are ouvertly aware of any risks, any issues that may arise, but ultimately you are more than aware of the benefits of the surgery you are planning to undertake. There was never any issue with times, John had about three or four pre-surgery consultations with me and always took time to answer my questions, reassure me and most important of all listen. He ensured that I was in the best shape possible for the surgery. Encouraged me to get to a safe weight and be the healthiest I could be for the surgery. The day of the surgery came and although I was nervous, these nerves quickly dissipated when John came to see me. He was relaxed and this relaxed me. He knows what he’s doing, he explained that he had discussed it with colleagues and researched it - so I was more than confident in his abilities. I trusted him completely and this trust made the whole experience very easy. In the theatre as I was about to be wheeled in to be put under, John came and held my hand and reassured me. After my surgery John came and saw me that evening, the following morning and the day after. My recovery went well, I was delighted with the results of my surgery. There were minor hiccups along the way but nothing that hadn’t been discussed beforehand with John. John contactes me via email and message to check in, in the days and weeks after my surgery. I went in to be seen by him if there were any concerns and he was always accessible and always kind and caring. He always took the time to check on me - as well as my wound which is so important and really ensures complete wellbeing and proper recovery. John makes sure to surround himself with a team who share his ideals and temperament and from his receptionist Mary to his tissue viability nurse Danielle - you are looked after from every angle. Both of these women played a significant role in my experience also and really helped me and made me feel so comfortable and safe. Equally his colleague Dr. Ovidiu who assisted with the final stages of the process was excellent. This safety and confidence is paramount when you’re feeling at your most vulnerable after a procedure and honestly helped me so much. Overall, my experience was profoundly positive and although it could have been one of the scariest times of my life, it was one of the best. I have come away with a realistic result - nothing more than I expected or was led to believe would be the case - a scar that I will always have but that John has ensured I was prepared for and an experience that I will never forget for all of the right reasons. I will be endlessly grateful to John and his team for their care, compassion and patience throughout this whole adventure.

I had a face & neck lift , upper & lower eyelid lift & fat grafting. The initial consultation was so thorough & informative I had no hesitation in going ahead with such major surgery.
I am thrilled with the results- better than I expected & so subtle . The whole experience was made easier by the caring support & encouragement of John & his assistants .

As a 21 year old young lady, with a petite frame, and breast size of 32FF, I thought about and researched extensively about having a breast reduction since I was 18 years old. I had a number of consultations with different consultants but was not 100% convinced until I me John. Since I was a young teenager my every day life was effected by and sometimes defined by my breast size. I suffered Neck Shoulder and Back pain and had severe indentations in my shoulders from my tight bra straps together with irritation under my breasts. I love walking and exercising in the gym but even in summertime I always wore big sweatshirts to hide my breasts let alone to when I was buying clothes I was very limited and was seldom able to buy pretty age appropriate clothes and ended up with frumpy covered up clothes that is until it all changed after my first meeting with John. He was so professional, listened to my story, was so empathetic and discussed my options with me in detail. He made it easy for me to come to the decision to have a breast reduction and everything went seamlessly from thereon in. From the moment I arrived in Bon Secours I was looked after so well by all the team and in particular by John who immediately put me at ease and explained everything so well. From that 1st meeting I have never looked back both from a physical and psychological point of view.I am so happy with the results even though it is only less than 3 months post op.John made me fully aware of things that could potentially go wrong and the potential scarring and I bombarded him with questions and he always took the time to respond quickly to personally answer them.He has a great team around him from his every obliging secretary Mary to his Plastics Nurse Danielle, I was able to contact them pre and post op with any concerns I was having and they were always there to help.

At only 5ft my bust was way too big compare to the rest of my body. It had been a problem all my adult life. It has been the best decision I have ever made. I cannot believe the difference it has made to my shoulders and back. I have been told my posture is better and I am walking straighter with my shoulders back. People with a large bust usually have round shoulder from the weight. From start to finish the doctor and his nurse did an excellent job.
