Breast Surgery
Dr. Severinac uses saline implants in the submuscular plane. He uses saline over silicone implants for a some important reasons: 1) Saline implants don't have the "silent rupture " like silicone. The FDA highly recommends patients with silicone have MRI scans every other year to made sure the implants are not ruptured (not covered by insurance)). 2) The incision for saline implants is less than half the length of silicone. 3) Saline implants are adjustable during the initial surgery and even after healing. 4) Saline implants that leak are easily changed in the office under local anesthesia and oral sedation whereas silicone implants require general anesthesia and additional procedure to manage the implant pocket.
There are plastic surgeons who use silicone implants and Dr. Severinac would be the first to recommend getting a second opinion if a patient is interested.
Abdominoplasty
Dr. Severinac is known for his tummy tuck results. He takes extra steps in the surgical process to optimize the results with fascial plication (tightening of the muscle layer), progressive tension fixation (attaching the skin flap to the underlying muscle layer), deep fat excision, and meticulous repairs (no one else repairs for Dr. Severinac). He even performed this on his wife and says "I am the husband, I was her plastic surgeon, and I know she had a tummy tuck. And you know, I never see, feel or notice that repair!"
