I strive to provide caring, compassionate, and top quality care to all patients, but believe I have a unique perspective to offer female patients as I understand the concerns, insecurities, and goals women have when considering plastic surgery.
Mention RealSelf to redeem.
I lost over 200lbs and did a lot of research prior to making the decision on who to leverage for skin removal. This was due to a few things I think important to note here; having darker skin (African-American), elasticity concerns I had from being overweight for so long, scar technique, wanting a realistic appearance that had a natural look versus overly enhanced, and wanting a surgeon with good outcomes that I could research independently. She performed an extended panniculectomy and breast reduction (was a size 44G) five years ago during the heart of the pandemic, and I couldn't have been more pleased with the results both immediately following the procedures as well as now. The shape that was hidden under all that loose skin that she uncovered was very surprising and she did zero lipo. Everything held up even with me gaining 25lbs at one point and losing the weight again! Dr. Peters is very methodical, type A, and hones in on the details to provide the best possible outcome. Similar to myself; she is direct and to the point with instructions, expectations and guidelines and I love it! I don't like fluff and I think people focus more on bedside manner (positive imo) than results. Never once has she or her staff tried to "up-sell" anything to me. I was fortunate to not have any complications and any questions I had were always addressed immediately by her. Some people never see their surgeon again after the procedure and deal with other office staff for follow ups. I can tell you that's not the case with her. She will poke her head in just to make sure everything is as expected even for a simple drain removal. With this in mind; I made the decision to continue with my skin removal journey and am just one week post-op from a bra-line (upper back) lift. I can already tell the results are in alignment with the quality and outcome of my previous experiences. She now has a surgical suite in her new building and it made the process so much easier. Location is easy to access from I-294 or I-90/94; with parking right outside the door. The area isn't overly congested where you have to hunt for parking which anyone who lives in Chicago can appreciate! All of her staff are amazing from the front desk, office and financial manager, and nurses. Quotes/pricing are straightforward and detailed. Nothing feels rushed from initial consultation to post-op visits. I am not an easy person to please and I can confidently tell you that she has left me wanting for nothing. She is the only option for me for any procedures.
Lisa was amazing!!! She took the time and explained everything to me and kept me informed about my entire procedure. I am one week post procedure and I feel so pretty and beautiful and have seen such improvements in my skin.
Once again Dr Peters hasdone a great job with my tummy tuck with muscle repair. I'm not going to lie, that first three to four days was hell! Overall I'm extremely happy with my results so far even though most days I'm in swell hell but that's okay because I know at the end it's all going to be worth it.
For the most part, my breast reduction with FNG experience from consult to post op was great. The only thing I don't like are the "dog ears" left behind on my back bra strap. Hopefully they'll be removed soon.
Over the last 5 years, I gained some weight, in which I believe about 75% of it went straight to my breast. In 2019, I started considering a breast reduction and I joined RealSelf. Last year in March is when I got serious about it and decided to start my paper trail of back complaints and digging straps in my shoulders with my primary care physician. My bra size was a 38F.My physician finally gave me a referral to see a PS, but... due to COVID, I needed a letter of medical necessity to be seen and my physician didn't want to give me one just yet. In March of this year I decided to just pay for my surgery on my own and I began consulting with Plastic Surgeons. I went on 2 consultations before choosing a doctor. The first consultation was a male doctor and he suggested a breast reduction, lift and liposuction to my side boob area. The second consultation was a woman and she didn't think the liposuction to the side boob area was necessary due to the type of breast reduction that was recommended to me. She was also very warm and welcoming and I felt most comfortable with her. Her reviews were great and so was her work. I also preferred a woman surgeon, so I chose her. My surgery was scheduled for June 2, 2021. On my surgery day, everything went pretty quick.I've never had any surgeries before, never been put on anesthesia or anything and I was a little nervous at the thought of being put to sleep but the staff was great, They made me feel so comfortable. The last thing I remember before going under was the conversation me and the anesthesiologist had about my career choice. It felt like I was in surgery for a few seconds and I was up and in a chair after. I was in a little pain or discomfort. But honestly, it wasn't as bad as I had imagined it to be. I went home the same day and started my pain meds immediately and I was fine. The biggest issue I had was sleeping on my back. I just couldn't get comfortable at all because I'm a side-sleeper. Other than that everything was great. I was sore but that wasn't a big deal for me. I am now 3 weeks and 2 days post-op and I feel pretty good. I seen my doctor yesterday and I'm healing great. No busted sutures or open wounds! (which is something I tried very hard to avoid) I can now start applying the silicone scar gel to help with the scarring, which I bought from my doctor. I'm very satisfied with my results. I initially thought I was too small, but my breast are changing daily and they look better and better each day. I know I still got ways to go, but I am truly satisfied with my results and I feel liberated! Updated on 30 Jun 2021: My pictures were not clear and I didn't know how to go in and fix them, so I'm re-uploading my review with better pics. This review will be brief but you can go look at my previous review for more details. My Breast Reduction was done on June 2nd of 2021. I was initially a 38F and now I am 3 weeks and a few days post-op. My breast are still in recovery, so I'm not sure what my current size is. I added better photos of my breast before and after surgery. Updated on 19 Aug 2021: My incisions are now fully healed. I want to say my incisions had completely closed around week 4 or 5, although I still had some swelling and discomfort in my breast. Now, I am completely healed and I have began sleeping on my side, which I was able to do about 4 weeks ago. I’m using a silicon scar gel for my scars and have been using it for about 8 weeks now. My breast are still settling and I’m starting to love them even more. I’m happy with my decision. My last update will be at 6 months, just to give you guys an idea of what your breast will look like and how they’ll change over time.
After researching for a Plastic Surgeon for a Mommy Makeover (Tummy Tuck, Liposuction, and Breast Augmentation), I came across Dr. Lisa J. Peters on Real Self as well as a couple of Chicago-based “plastic surgery” Facebook groups, where people discussed doctors and different procedures. Upon visiting Dr. Peters’ website and Real Self profile, I found that, as a board-certified plastic surgeon, she does excellent work. She also has a diverse client list as well as before and after photos (both of which are qualities that were important in my search). I was impressed, so I booked a consultation. There was a fee, but it would be deducted from the cost of the procedure after booking. When I arrived for the consultation, the ladies at the front desk were busy but friendly, the wait was short. Dr. Peters’ bedside manner is unmatched. She listened, answered all my questions, and was knowledgeable. She explained everything, even recovery. Dr. Peters showed me pictures and sketched diagrams to give me an understanding of the procedures. By the end of my meeting with Dr. Peters, I knew that I wanted her to do my procedure. After the consultation, Dr. Peters sent me to Stephanie Calzante, Office Manager/Patient Care Coordinator, for my estimate and further instructions. Stephanie is so kind and helpful, she answered my random emails and helped ease my stress. I had my surgery on May 21st. I arrived at the Day Surgery facility, which is associated with a hospital. The entire care team was phenomenal! I started with Jennifer, who was nice and helpful. The anesthesiologist was kind. When I woke up from surgery, the recovery nurses had excellent bedside manner. But, unfortunately, I can’t remember their names (I was on pain medication). The recovery was rough as explained by Dr. Peters. But, by following her instructions, I was off the narcotics by day 7 post-op. I was walking straight by day 6 post-op. I have never disliked my body. I am grateful for what it has done for me, but being a mom took a toll on my midsection and my boobs. No matter how much working out I did, I was insecure about those parts of my body. Dr. Peters is a miracle worker!!! I am less than two weeks out, and I love my body more than ever now. My boobs sit up! My abs, back, and waistline are sculpted! I am feeling great! I recommend Dr. Peters and her team to anyone who wants a team that cares and provides results! Check out their new location, it is beautiful. Updated on 3 Jun 2021: I have never disliked my body. I was impressed by the photos of the results from Dr. Peters' breast reduction patients, so I scheduled a consultation with her as well as two other doctors. I can't know for certain my results would have been different with another doctor, but based off my experience I would feel confident recommending her to anyone looking for good results and peace of mind throughout the process! I had large breasts which sagged due to weight loss and increased my back pain. Dr. Peters did a great job explaining to me how the procedure worked and what I could expect after in terms of appearance and shape. I was also very pleased with Stephanie, the Patient Coordinator who did an amazing job scheduling my surgery within a pretty reasonable time frame, and answering my questions up until that date. My results match what I expected and wanted going in, and I'm happy to feel more confident and less pain.
My experience was simply Amazing!!!!! Dr. Peters and her staff was so accommodating and great to work with. From the very beginning at my consultation up to the day of the procedure was mind blowing experience. When I look at the before and after pictures I still can't believe the remarkable work Dr. Peters did. I just can't stop looking at how beautiful the work Dr. Peters did. I feel like I have somewhat of my hour shape body back!!! I highly recommend Dr. Peters because she's an Amazing cosmetic Surgion.
24 years after having bariatric surgery I finally decided that the time was right for a tummy tuck and I knew it would improve my life in many ways . I never expected to get the amazing results I got. Updated on 6 Apr 2019: I have fibromyalgia and it did cause my recovery to be more painful than average but I would do it all over again. Updated on 7 Apr 2019: Tummy Tuck collage 6 months before and 6 months after.
