Post-Pregnancy Procedures
Kids are awesome, but pregnancy and breastfeeding can leave the body looking and feeling less than youthful. Once you’re back to your pre-pregnancy weight (and have completed your family), it may be time to do something for yourself. Typically, a mommy makeover includes a breast enhancement (usually breast augmentation to restore volume and/or a breast lift to reverse sagging), along with a tummy tuck to address stretched-out skin and stubborn fat, as well as to repair abdominal muscles. The surgery is performed in a single session, to shorten your recovery and return you to your pre-pregnancy contours quickly. Each person has unique desires and needs, so your mommy makeover may also include a breast reduction, liposuction to remove isolated pockets of fat, and vaginal rejuvenation for cosmetic and functional reasons. In my Chicago practice, nonsurgical procedures—such as CoolSculpting, which freezes away unwanted fat—are also available to help you feel more comfortable in your body.
Breast Surgery
Breast augmentation with implants or fat transfer is the most popular breast enhancement surgery I perform, but it’s just one option I offer in my Chicago practice, to help patients achieve natural results that meet their individual goals. Breast lifts can make sagging breasts perkier, and I often combine breast augmentation with a lift, to both raise the breasts and add volume. I often perform breast surgeries as part of a mommy makeover, a combination of procedures that helps women regain their pre-pregnancy contours. For women with large, heavy breasts, breast reduction surgery can be a literal relief to the multitude of challenges they can cause. Men can also struggle with excessive breast tissue, and I frequently tackle “man boobs” with gynecomastia surgery. I also provide several types of breast reconstruction. My goal is always to create a natural, symmetrical, beautiful look.
Abdominoplasty
I frequently perform tummy tuck surgery (abdominoplasty) for patients who have been left with excess skin, stubborn fat, and lax abdominal muscles after pregnancy or significant weight loss. I offer two types of tummy tucks at my Chicago-area practice: a full abdominoplasty, which contours the entire abdomen, and a mini tummy tuck, which focuses on the area below the belly button. The specifics of your procedure will depend on your individual needs and goals, but it will likely involve removing excess skin and fat, tightening and repairing the abdominal muscles and connective tissue, and creating a new belly button. I usually perform liposuction, to ensure that the entire abdominal area looks slimmer, firmer, and more toned. After graduating magna cum laude from Rutgers College, Dr. Iteld earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan School of Medicine, graduating with distinction in medical research. He completed a residency in plastic surgery at the University of Chicago Hospitals, and a fellowship in oncologic and microvascular reconstructive surgery at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center’s department of plastic surgery.
