I feel so fortunate to have met Dr. Kuhlman-Wood a few years ago! Not only has she been treating my arthritic hands -- multiple injections and a couple of surgeries -- but recently she did a masterful job at removing four basal cell carcinomas, two of which were on my face, saving me from the another barbaric, all-day, MOHS procedure at a nearby dermatological clinic. Instead, she scheduled me into Pleasant View Surgical Center in Post Falls, where these shin cancers were removed under general anesthesia. I was in and out in just a few hours!
Here's the part where the 69-year-old guy gets cosmetic surgery for the first time: For at least 15 years, I've been troubled about the worsening issue of excess skin hanging below my chin. Some folks this "turkey neck." So, Dr. Kuhlman-Wood and I talked about corrective options during the followup visit from my skin cancer surgery. The procedure she suggested was called a "neck wave." This operation is minimally-invasive. It removes the hanging tissue and tightens some muscles in the neck, just below the chin.
Four weeks later, I was back at Pleasant View. Again, I had general anesthesia. I was discharged after recovery and needed pain medicine for only a day or two. For the first week, I wore an elastic and Velcro garment, 24/7 intended to support the chin and neck. Later, I only had to wear it at night.
Conclusion: Today, I had my final post-op visit. I still have a bit more healing to do. The scar is fading nicely. Most importantly, everyone agrees that I look ten years younger! The "turkey neck" is gone. The skin below my chin is now firm and taut. I'm very, very happy with the results! Dr. Kuhlman-Wood is an exceedingly-skilled surgeon. Her fees are reasonable, her office is well-organized and her staff is personable and supportive.
