Three months is generally too early in the course of any hair restoration treatment for a patient to see significant benefits, so there is most likely no reason for you to be concerned. One of the reasons why treating hair loss can be frustrating is that each individual hair follicle goes through a natural cycle of growth, shedding, and regrowth. However, this cycle takes years to complete and not all follicles are at the same stage at the same time. As a result, even when treatments are working on some follicles, they may not yet be working on others. For example, after a hair transplantation procedure I usually caution patients that it may take as long as a year before they see their final results. 
Platelet rich plasma can be used to treat many different causes of hair loss, so without knowing your specific medical history or what other contributing factors might be involved it is difficult to determine whether your results are typical. However, keep in mind that the shedding (or telogen) phase generally takes two to four months, while the growth (or anagen) phase can last for two to six years. Hair follicles will shed old hairs before they start to grow new ones, so even though your shedding has significantly slowed it may take some time before any new growth is noticeable.

&nbsp;I started prp 3 months ago and have had two sessions so far will have my third soon. My shedding has decreased I went from shedding 200 hairs a day to 64 hairs a day. Im so happy the shedding has stopped. However my hair looks thinner and my crown looks worse than when I started PRP my back hair is also falling off. My hair looks completely flat. Can I ever regrow hair?

Many people do not realize that even healthy hair follicles go through regular periods of shedding and regrowth.&nbsp; This is why it is not at all unusual to lose up anywhere from 50 to 100 hairs on a given day. Typically, patients who are experiencing hair loss have follicles that are shrinking, so each time that an individual hair regrows it comes back thinner, until eventually the follicle stops producing new hairs altogether.&nbsp; Platelet rich plasma therapy works by encouraging the shrinking hair follicles to become healthier and larger, and by accelerating the transition of the hair follicle from the dormant (shedding) state back to an actively growing state. This could mean that patients may experience some shedding of old hairs, because new, thicker hairs are growing in to replace them.
Every case of hair loss is different and I have not had an opportunity to examine you in person. However, it is most likely too soon to determine whether your treatment has been effective.&nbsp; It may take several months before growth from PRP is visible. You should not expect all shedding to stop completely, and if you have noticed that your shedding has been significantly reduced then that is most likely a positive sign.

I have had 2 sessions of prp within the length of 2 months but idk if it's working. Im still shedding although I have noticed my shed was actually cut in half yes.

The most common form of hair loss, called genetic pattern baldness, effectively causes the hair follicles to gradually shrink. Over time, they produce hair that is thinner and thinner until they eventually stop producing hair altogether. Platelet Rich Plasma can effectively treat this progression by stimulating the body’s natural healing factors, encouraging growth in the shrinking hair follicles and producing thicker and fuller hair growth. However, hair follicles that have already stopped producing hair entirely are much less likely to be affected by platelet rich plasma treatments. This means that, in some cases, PRP will maintain the hair you have but not produce any new growth.
If there are areas of your scalp where you would like to encourage new hair growth, it may be necessary to transplant healthy, growing hair follicles from other regions of your scalp, using either follicular unit grafting or follicular unit extraction techniques. I would also encourage you to continue your PRP treatment if your doctor so recommends. Hair loss is a progressive condition and ongoing treatment is necessary to keep it fully under control. We often recommend PRP treatments, as well as a variety of other supplementary hair restoration treatments, to patients who have undergone hair transplantation surgery.

I was loosing my hair density and quantity for a few years. So I consulted a doctor about 6 months ago. He suggested me some medicines like biotin, d-capsul, minoxidil 5% and told me to do prp. I have done 4 prp sessions. Now my hair has become thicker and hair fall has reduced. But after 4 sessions I still don't see any new hair growing. What do I do now? Shall I do any more prp?

Contrary to what many people might think, there are actually many different forms of hair loss and they can stem from a variety of different conditions. This is why some cases of hair loss might respond to certain natural remedies while others will not. If you are looking for ways to help keep your hair healthy naturally, make sure that you are getting enough protein in the form of lean meat (chicken, fish, or pork) or quinoa, soy, whole grains, or beans.&nbsp; Additionally, important nutrients like iron, which helps cells carry oxygen vital to the hair follicles, and omega-3 fatty acids, which make up the natural oils that keep your scalp and hair hydrated, are essential for healthy hair growth.
I will often recommend various nutritional shakes to my patients, usually to supplement prescription blended topical compounds and other non-surgical hair restoration treatments. There are also many different shampoos and conditioners that can help improve the overall health of your hair and make hair loss less noticeable. Finally, advanced treatment options like red light laser therapy and platelet rich plasma both use completely natural means to help reduce hair loss and potentially stimulate re-growth. Remember, however, that not every case of hair loss will respond to natural treatments the same way and sometimes it is simply not possible to restore growth to the hair line in men without performing a hair transplantation procedure. I would encourage you to talk with a doctor who has experience treating hair loss so that they can fully diagnose your condition and formulate a comprehensive hair loss treatment plan that is specifically tailored to your needs.

What are natural ways I can regrow my receding hairline? Can I talk to my doctor about this? Who can I talk to about help?

First, it is important to remember that you are not alone. Women’s hair loss is actually much more common than many people think, and research published by the American Hair Loss Council suggests that as many as one out of every four women can expect to experience some degree of hair loss over the course of their lives. Unfortunately, hair loss in women is not always well understood and can often be difficult to diagnose. Even though women are frequently affected by genetic pattern baldness, women’s hair loss may also be the result of any one of a number of different factors, ranging from hormonal changes caused by thyroid abnormalities, menopause, or birth control pills, to physical stress from surgery, illness, anemia, or rapid weight loss, to the side effects of certain common medications. Simply put, the complexities of women’s hair loss require distinct, specialized approaches to both diagnosis and treatment. 
I would definitely recommend that you follow through with your plan to visit a board-certified dermatologist. Because hair loss can be the result of so many different conditions, it is important that you undergo thorough diagnostic testing by a doctor who has experience treating women’s hair loss. If there is an underlying issue that requires attention, you need to deal with that before any hair restoration treatment can really be effective.

She put me on spirolantone, rogaine, hair laser, biotin, some worked for a little bit but then plateaued. I don't notice a hairbrush full of hair or hair falling out ever.Last couple months I have had moderate acne and notice a little bit on my scalp too. I never had an issue with acne before, especially not on my scalp. I don't have any other symptoms. My hair underneath has much always stayed the same, it's just on top is so bad. I'm meeting with another dermo soon, but looking for ideas now.

Although proper nutrition does play a very important role in hair growth, it is not necessarily the only factor that you need to consider. Many women start experiencing androgenetic alopecia, or genetic pattern baldness, as they enter their fifties or sixties, but this may be completely unrelated to the hair thinning you experienced years ago. Minoxidil, which is sold under the trade name Rogaine®, can counteract the progression of androgenetic alopecia and may help speed along your recovery, but it is less effective at actually re-growing hair in areas where the hair growth cycle has completely stopped. We have, however, had a great deal of success with platelet rich plasma treatments, which use a concentrated solution of growth factors in the patient’s own blood to cause the shrinking hair follicles to become healthier and larger and produce thicker and fuller hair growth.
Ultimately, there is no such thing as a “one-size-fits-all” hair loss treatment, and while nutritional supplements (or castor oil) may help thicken your existing hair, they cannot really substitute for a serious hair loss prevention plan. I would recommend that you see a board-certified dermatologist or a doctor who has experience treating the various forms of hair loss. They will be able to perform tests that will accurately diagnose what is causing your hair loss and then develop a customized treatment plan, that may include custom blended prescription medications, platelet rich plasma, red light laser therapy, or even hair transplantation surgery, depending on your specific needs

I have hair loss form anorexia or extreme dieting for 30 plus years stated age 15, now 56 severe dieting. I have added more protein and hair vitamins, collagen , keratin, coconut oil pills. Rogaines says genetic hair loss but what about nutritional? The supplements have helped thicken strands for sure, would rogaine stimulate dead follicles to grow again, Even if I added alot more calories or have they been dead to long? How about castor oil?

Hair follicles will often enter a dormant, or “telogen,” phase after the shock of being transplanted, and shed their existing hair strands before cycling into the next stage of regrowth. This is perhaps the most common reason for temporary “shock loss” and why it may take several months before the results of a hair transplantation procedure are noticeable. Because minoxidil works, in part, by encouraging those follicles to re-enter the anagen (or growth) phase and to stay in that phase longer, it absolutely could make results appear more quickly after you have healed from your hair transplant procedure. However, it is important to remember that different patients can respond to medications differently, so individual results may vary. As with any medication, you should discuss with your doctor whether it is the right course for you.
More importantly, most forms of hair loss are progressive and hair transplantation only moves healthy hair follicles into thinning areas; it does not prevent further hair loss from occurring. This means that a patient who does not use some form of hair loss prevention will most likely grow dissatisfied with their hair restoration results. Even once the newly transplanted follicles begin to grow, if something is not done to prevent the older surrounding follicles from failing there will either be no improvement or a noticeable loss of overall thickness. This is why we generally recommend, at minimum, that patients adhere to a regular regimen of 5% minoxidil and/or finasteride, and in some cases may combine that with other prescription medications, depending on the patient’s individual needs. While minoxidil may help you see results more quickly, it is really more important as a part of an ongoing hair maintenance plan.

Some patients do experience itching, burning and stinging, or even redness at the application site while using minoxidil, so your reaction is most likely not a cause for concern. Furthermore, although patients can have very different recovery rates, most of the incisions from an FUE procedure should have healed within seven to ten days after the procedure. The grafted follicles are deep beneath the skin’s surface, so after five months it is extremely unlikely that scratching the recipient areas would dislodge them, unless you were scratching hard enough to actually break the skin. All hair follicles go through regular periods of growth and dormancy, so it may take a year or more for you to see your full results.
In some very rare cases, certain patients may have an allergic reaction to minoxidil, so seek medical help right away if you notice a developing rash, itching and/or swelling of the face, tongue, or throat, severe dizziness, or difficulty breathing.

I'm about 8.5 months out form FUE, I've been told to use minoxidil for the first year. All was fine until month 5 when the itching became worse. Since then, for the last 3 months or so, I have found myself scratching the recipient area, particularly in my sleep, I'll wake up scratching or when watching tv I'll realize I'm doing it. Could this have an adverse affect on the result? All looks very even, not patchy, still hoping for more density though. Minox stings slightly when I put it on.

Unfortunately, genetic pattern hair loss is progressive. A hair transplant only works by moving healthy hair follicles from one area of the scalp to another, but it does not, in itself, halt the progression of the hair loss in the follicles that have already been affected. Without a good hair loss prevention program, which typically includes medications like minoxidil or finasteride but could also include other hair restoration treatments like platelet rich plasma or red light laser therapy, the pattern of thinning and loss will almost certainly continue. Although the follicles that were transplanted during the procedure should continue to grow normally, the older follicles that surround them will not, so a patient could easily end up losing the same number of hairs that were transplanted, and possibly even more, in other areas of the scalp.
During the very first consultation with any new patient, we stress that every transplant patient should undergo a preventative program before, during, and after their hair transplantation surgery. Patients who fail to follow the maintenance plan that we establish together prior to their surgery, who do not attend follow-up visits, or who refuse to take all medications exactly as prescribed, will most likely find that their subsequent hair loss eventually undoes any progress that we might have made, leaving them looking worse than they did before their hair transplant procedure.

I've heard that some patients go through hair loss stablization process before their ht surgeries, whats the point of it ? I was wondering if they will stay on medications forever

Why do I have to stabilize my hair loss before HT procedure ?

Each hair follicle on the head is constantly going through a cycle of growth and shedding, and at any given time about 10% of the follicles are in the telogen phase, where they shed old hairs to make room for the next cycle of growth. As a result, it is not at all unusual for an average person to lose anywhere from 50 to 100 hairs a day. However, when a patient is starting to undergo genetic pattern baldness, the most common form of hair loss, the hairs that return are generally thinner with each cycle, until they eventually stop growing entirely.
While it is impossible to be certain without a thorough examination and diagnostic testing, the fact that you have experienced generalized thinning followed by significant regrowth suggests that you may have been experiencing telogen effluvium, a relatively common condition where an external stressor (which could be anything from significant weight loss to physical trauma to emotional stress) triggers a larger than normal number of hair follicles to all enter the telogen phase at once. While this can be a disturbing experience, the hair loss that results from telogen effluvium is usually temporary. Once the external stressor is removed or dealt with the body returns to its normal rhythms and the hair begins to grow again. This can often take several months to a year, depending on the individual, but will not interfere with the growth cycle of the unaffected follicles, which will continue to shed on their normal schedule.
It is common for both men and women to experience some degree of thinning as they get older, and the fact that your lab results were normal and that you have had some regrowth suggests that you have nothing to worry about. However, if you are still concerned, I would recommend that you undergo more thorough diagnostic testing with a physician who has experience treating all forms of hair loss.

About a year ago my hair suddenly started to shed. I noticed lots of fine short hairs. My hair thickness reduced but I had no bald patches, just general thinning. I went to a hair specialist who was unsure about whether this was female pattern baldness or temporary. I have lots of fine short hairs around three inches long coming through everywhere especially the front of my head but I'm still loosing around 40 a day. My temples are thinnest and the sides too. All my lab results were normal.&nbsp;I'm 34 and female.
