Making Nipples Smaller For Men

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
There are many causes for enlarged chest tissue in men, Gynecomastia. Many times several factors are involved; however, frequently, there is no identifiable cause. Some of the contributing factors include obesity, certain prescription medications, alcohol, marijuana, and steroid abuse. Many medical illnesses can contribute to Gynecomastia such as thyroid disease, prolactinemia, renal failure, and even some benign and malignant tumors.

First, a correctable medical cause for Gynecomastia should be sought. Once this has been done, most healthy men who are bothered by the appearance of their chest are reasonable candidates to be evaluated for surgery. Patients should be mature enough to understand the procedure, its limitations, and the resultant scaring (if any).

If you are an adolescent male who suffers from enlarged chest tissue, often the best advice is to wait until the end of puberty to allow hormonal changes to settle out. Gynecomastia will often disappear in adolescents and patients can avoid a scar from surgery. However, there are rare cases that warrant surgical correction earlier. We have some select photos of men who have had Gynecomastia Surgery with one of our board-certified plastic surgeons available to view in our Before & After Gallery.

Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) is a procedure for men or women with excess fat or loose lower abdominal skin that is resistant to diet or exercise. Women who have excess skin, fat or bulging in the lower abdomen are candidates for a Tummy Tuck. Like excess skin and stretch marks, stretched out muscles will not retighten with aggressive diet and exercise. A Tummy Tuck corrects these concerns by tightening the abdominal muscles creating a firmer flatter abdomen and by removing the excess skin and fat creating a thinner abdominal profile. Liposuction is sometimes used in a conservative manner with a Tummy Tuck to assist with sculpting the waist line further.

Liposuction is a procedure that can help sculpt the body by removing unwanted fat from the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, upper arms, chin, cheeks and neck. Liposuction has undergone many refinements in the last several decades, including the tumescent technique, the super-wet technique, power assisted Liposuction (PAL) and ultrasound assisted Liposuction (UAL), all of which have helped plastic surgeons provide selected patients with more precise results and quicker recovery times. Although no type of Liposuction is a substitute for proper diet and exercise, Liposuction can remove stubborn areas of unwanted fat that don't respond to traditional weight loss methods creating a more sculpted and contoured appearance. At Park Meadows Cosmetic Surgery, we are committed to helping you achieve your body contouring goals in and informed and safe manner. We believe that our patients are sophisticated and capable of understanding and choosing which operations are best for them after appropriate consultation and education with one of our doctors. We will help you navigate and understand the variety of options available.
Generally, Liposuction procedures are limited in both the volumes removed and the amount of time spent under anesthesia. The time required to perform Liposuction may vary considerably depending on the size of the area, the amount of fat being removed, the type of anesthesia and the technique used. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons has recommended that no more than 5 liters of fat be removed in any one setting. All of our procedures are performed in our fully state licensed and The Joint Commission Accredited surgery center.
Liposuction entails the removal of fat from a particular area of the body using small incisions through which a narrow tube or cannula is inserted and used to vacuum the fat layer that lies deep beneath the skin. The primary difference between the techniques used (UAL, PAL, tumescent, super-wet) lies in the method employed to break-up and remove the fatty tissue. Along with removal of the fat there is removal of fluid which must be replaced intravenously. It is for this reason that your procedure should only be performed in an accredited surgical facility under the care of a board certified anesthesiologist so that your comfort and safety is made preeminent.

A dual plane technique is appropriate for women who have a slight amount of sagging or drooping, but not enough to justify a full breast lift. Breast augmentation surgery with this technique also “lifts” the nipple into a higher, more attractive position, as the implant settles into its final position in the weeks after surgery.

The advantages of the dual plane breast augmentation surgery include:
Decreased risk of capsular contracture - due to the submuscular position of the implants
More natural appearance
One small, inconspicuous exterior incision
More natural movement as you walk

In a breast augmentation surgery performed with the dual plane technique, we’re able to use both a sub-glandular and sub-muscular implant location. The upper part of the implant is sub-muscular, meaning it is placed in a pocket underneath the chest muscle, while the lower part of the implant is covered only by your breast tissue.

The implant is placed after a small incision is made along the base of the breast. In short, a dual plane technique is perfect for women who have a mild amount of breast drooping and who are looking for a breast augmentation surgery that gives them the higher, more attractive position of a breast lift without the resulting extensive scars associated with a lifting procedure. Like other forms of breast augmentation surgery, a dual plane procedure is safe and provides aesthetically pleasing results.

Abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure to remove excess fat and skin from the lower abdomen, while restoring weakened or separated abdominal muscles creating a tighter, firmer, and thinner abdominal profile. Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) is a procedure for men or women with excess fat or loose lower abdominal skin that is resistant to diet or exercise. Women who are finished with childbearing and who have excess skin, fat or bulging in the lower abdomen are candidates for a Tummy Tuck. With pregnancy, the abdominal muscles will often separate causing bulging in the lower abdomen. Like excess skin and stretch marks, these stretched out muscles will not retighten with aggressive diet and exercise. Based on your profile, I'd recommend this procedure instead of liposuction.

The goal of most breast lifting procedures is to move the nipple position up to the center of the breast and to adjust the shape of the breast to move it to a more youthful position. Many times natural asymmetry exists where one breast has a different shape, size, or nipple position. The secondary goal of breast lifting is to improve the natural asymmetries and to make the breasts look more alike knowing that perfect symmetry is probably not achievable. Hi there!

We suggest the following:

Activity: You may walk and climb stairs immediately after surgery. After 4 weeks you may resume light activity such as brisk walking. During the first 4 weeks do not lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk. After 6 weeks you may resume more strenuous aerobic work and lifting activities as tolerated.

Medical insurance will often reimburse for this procedure, but patients requiring Breast Reduction must have physical symptoms that are properly documented. This means taking preoperative photographs and documenting a history of back, neck, or shoulder pain, bra-strap grooving, and prescriptions for treating rashes under the breasts. Many insurance companies will not cover the operation unless a specified amount of breast tissue is removed at the time of surgery. In many patients with very large breasts, this is not a problem because there will be enough tissue to make an attractive breast proportional to the woman's body. However, in some women, if the amount of breast removed does not match what the insurance company prescribes, the operation is not covered, and the patient may not know this until after the surgery is performed. Communication and understanding of the policy requirements are important to avoiding frustration and the added responsibility of a large, surprise medical bill.

$40,000Breast Reconstruction with DIEP Flap

Excellent Care - Lone Tree, CO

I had a double mastectomy and DIEP Flap reconstruction. I chose DIEP Flap because I didn't like the idea of implants and I loved the idea of a tummy tuck as part of the deal. I was under age 45. I recovered completely in about 4 weeks. I love the results - very natural looking breasts and a flat tummy! I still get emotional almost four years later when I think of the kindness and professionalism I experienced. I had not one complaint about the experience or procedure. The doctors and the entire staff treated me like I was their most important patient.

$500Embrace Scar Therapy

So Far So Good - Lone Tree, CO

My plastic surgeon highly recommended using Embrace on my DIEP flap abdominal scar. I've done 3 of 4 applications and am quite happy so far. The scar looks relatively thin and flat. Much nicer than the breast scars that didn't get Embrace. It adds some nice stability to the incision site. It's neater and more protective than just tape or steri strips. All of the nurses who've seen my scar say it looks great! Hopefully the final application goes as smoothly and my scar stays as nice looking as it does now!
