FUE Hair Transplant

I&nbsp;would pluck the hairs gently; most should come out easily, if not, then they can be left in.&nbsp; The reason to pull them is to prevent inflammation that may be cause by the hair fragments.

I&nbsp;have had no issues since the procedure and I believe my cleaning routine etc was all done correctly. Some grafts have shed at this point, but a lot of the hair hasnt making it obvious that I had the procedure done as the grafted hair is very visible and short compared to the rest of my longer hair. Can I accelerate the shedding, i.e. can I pull out the hair? I feel like the roots are embedded at this point. I have pulled out a couple and only the hair has come out, please see image. The hairs have a hook like ending but don't seem to have any bulb like attachment to the end.Thanks!

This is not the "normal" appearance 8 weeks following surgery and in the absence of symptoms suggestive of an infection, it is likely an inflammatory response.&nbsp; The two most likely&nbsp;causes for this are that the grafts may have been placed a little deep and the skin from the graft is irritating the recipient area skin or there could be retained hairs from the grafts irritating the skin.&nbsp; This second possibility is easily recognized if you feel the stubble from the transplanted hairs still remaining.&nbsp; 
I&nbsp;would return to your doctor for an evaluation. You may benefit from a&nbsp;course of antibiotics and topical steroids.&nbsp; If there are retained hairs from the grafts they should be removed.

I still have some pinkness in my recipient area at 8 weeks post FUE. I had 2500 grafts into my hairline. Save for a few self limiting pimples which tend to resolve spontaneously within a few days, the area is not inflamed, sore or weepy and I don't have a fever.

The ability to accomplish graft detection and extraction using either the robot or a manual device depends on the skills and experience of the surgeon.&nbsp; I&nbsp;was the lead physician in the development of the ARTAS&nbsp;robot and the manual device called the SAFE&nbsp;System and I&nbsp;can say that if the doctor does not have sufficient experience using either device the graft quality will be sub-optimal.&nbsp; 
You also have to consider the experience of the surgeon in the design and implantation aspects of the surgery as that&nbsp;may impact the cosmetic outcome to a greater degree than the graft removal.

I was considering robotic hair transplant but watched a video. The physicians discuss the robot. Is it true that the procedure done by hand is better because the physician can better adjust and feel the follicle when extracting?

​Is it true that the robot cant detect and extract follicles the way the human hand can?

The small, possibly white dot-like scars after FUE&nbsp;may be visible after FUE&nbsp;when the hair in the donor area is cut very short (less than 3-4 mm).&nbsp; Whether or not you have these does not impact your ability to have future FUE&nbsp;procedures. The limit is usually in the range of 5000-8000 follicular units.&nbsp; The strip procedure also gives you the option of additional procedures but the scar will definitely be visible at 3-4 mm of length in the donor area.

I am considering a hair transplant. I have been recommended by 2 surgeons (Australia and Thailand) to have strip transplant. This gives me options should I require further surgeries later. Both have suggessted 2500 grafts to the front of my head with 1000 on crown if I choose. I have seen videos of recipients with severe white round bald spots from FUE. If I go Artas the first time does this limit the harvesting for potential future surgeries?

FUE (and Artas) over FUT. For first surgery which is preferred? Scared of white 'pot holing' on the donor area with FUE.
