I've had a long journey with my nose, I broke it when I was 10 falling flat on my face trick or treating. I did not go to the hospital so my nose was always crooked. I saw an ear nose throat specialist at the age of 22 who completely ruined my nose taking out far too much cartilage (but at least it was straight). As the years went on the nose continued to "fall" since I hadnt any support. So you can imagine at 37, with this huge nose with no support, after 27 years of feeling horrible about my nose, I had kind of given up on the entire thing. I spoke with Dr Rival and when I did, I felt good about him but Id always felt rushed in his office. Dont let that discourage you, he's a busy man. My instincts told me to go with him anyway and at my last appt I brought enhanced photos of myself and really expressed what would make me happy. I hated my front view he told me my side view bothered him more. So it was great to have that conversation so Id understand what he saw vs what I saw. The day of surgery he was a calming presence and I was full of nerves as I have three children and did not want to go under the knife for something many may regard "trivial" but I felt great the moment I saw him and when I woke up his visit was very reassuring. I even asked him to send me my before and after table pics on that day and he did! I am 2 mths post opp I feel so beautiful like this was always supposed to be my face! Taking pictures is a breeze now whereas before Id hide myself. I never write reviews but I just have to commend Dr Rival for doing such an amazing job ...and I am a very picky person. I need to wait another 1.5 years to truly see my results as this was a revision but I am extremely happy so far.

I’d like to start by saying that the most significant thing you look for in a plastic surgeon is that they’re knowledgeable, compassionate, and honest. Dr. Rival is all of these. He does not set unrealistic expectations. He provides clear guidelines of what you can expect. I recently underwent a septoplasty with Dr. Rival and his kindness is unmatched. The results so far are looking great and my swelling is very minimal only 2 weeks in. I suffer from anxiety especially surrounding medical procedures as I have a lot of pre-existing knowledge of all the risks etc. Whenever I reached out to Dr. Rival he always responded immediately and reassured me. It’s rare to find these characteristics in doctors these days. His staff is also amazing! His office staff member Mandy texted/called me when I needed reassurance and she was incredibly kind as well. Overall I’ve had a great experience with Dr. Rival. Also I did A LOT of research (years) before I chose him. From what I read/saw it was clear he is highly skilled and professional. If I could give Dr. Rival more than 5 stars I would!! I had septorhinoplasty a few months ago and it was the best decision I could have made for myself! I have hated my nose since I was 12 years old when I started to get bullied about it. This bullying unfortunately continued on and off throughout my life until I was finally in a position in my mid 50s (!) to be able to consider surgery. I had heard about Dr. Rival from a trusted friend so decided to go for a consultation. I honestly thought I may be too old to have rhinoplasty but Dr. Rival assured me that I was a suitable candidate and was definitely not his oldest patient! He was not only kind and friendly but patiently answered my many, many questions. To my delight (and surprise) the surgery and recovery was a breeze! I really had no pain at all and the little amount of soreness I had was easily treated with some regular Tylenol. I had the standard bruising and swelling but that subsided in a couple of weeks. Now onto my results!! What can I say - Dr. Rival is a true artist when it comes to rhinoplasty! I am SO thrilled with my new nose and amazed at how perfectly Dr. Rival sculpted my nose to fit my face and features. My nose looks SO natural and I feel so confident now! I no longer hide my profile! This is the nose I should have been born with and it is literally the most perfect nose for my face. I wouldn’t change a thing about it. Honestly the worst part of this whole experience was the anxiety I had in the weeks leading up to surgery! The other amazing thing that happened is that I used to have a continuously drippy nose and would blow my nose about 20-25 times a day. It was so frustrating and nasal sprays didn’t help. Well, Dr. Rival fixed that too and I literally do not blow my nose anymore (the money I am saving on Kleenex!!). If you are reading this far (first of all congrats, as I am long winded) but honestly if you are reading this far and have had any hesitation about having rhinoplasty with Dr. Rival then hesitate no more! If I can have this done in my mid 50s with amazing, life changing results and this is something you’ve wanted to do for a while then just go for it! You will be in amazing hands with Dr. Rival and his wonderful team! Also a special shout out to Lyne and Mandy who were amazing answering all of my questions! Thanks again Dr. Rival and team!!

When I began my research for a surgeon, I sought to find a doctor who was highly regarded in all aspects inclusive of expertise, care, and pleasing results. After months of extensive research, I came across various positive and heartwarming testimonials of Dr. Rival’s work and my decision to book a consult and needless to say, surgery with Dr. Rival, came without hesitation. Since consultation day, Dr. Rival kept clear but optimistic goals for what would be achieved in surgery, as well as a highly trained eye and ear for what I as a patient, desired most as the outcome. Speaking with Dr. Rival made me feel seen and understood, leaving no doubts when booking. More specifically, on surgery day, Dr. Rival took time before and after surgery to speak with me regarding the logistics of my surgery, this again reaffirming that I was in good care. I am now 2 months post-operation and I feel forever thankful for my experience with Dr. Rival and his staff; it has been everything a patient undergoing such surgery would expect and want. For this reason, I am happy to leave a highly regarded recommendation for a Doctor whose care and expertise has not gone unnoticed. Dr. Rival emulates exactly what I was looking for in a surgeon: knowledge, patience, and understanding, and I would recommend him a million times over again. A decision such as this requires time, comfort, and trust, and I write this review with hopes that it will encourage others to proceed with and trust Dr. Rival as well.

From consultation to my one year post op follow up, Dr. Rival was wonderful to work with. He’s a very skilled surgeon and I found him to be kind and approachable. I consulted with other Toronto doctors but knew he was the one I wanted to choose right when I met him. At my consultation, he was very honest/realistic with what results he would be able to achieve with my nose so I knew exactly what outcome to expect going in to surgery. Throughout the year of follow up appointments, he was understanding of any issues I brought up as my nose healed. He was happy to reassure me that it was all part of the process and if there was anything I didn’t like after 1 year he would be able to do a touch up. I’m now 1 year and 3 months post op and am very happy with my result, it’s truly changed my life. I've attached before/after photos from pre op and over 1 year post op along with my table pics from surgery day. I am so impressed with how straight it is and how much cuter the tip is. My only complaint is that it is incredibly difficult to get in touch with the office, however I do understand that they have been very busy during COVID. It would be nice if there was a more direct line to the office especially in the week post surgery because I had questions and concerns that I wasn’t able to get addressed as quickly as I hoped.

Just got my cast off and cried... even though I know it's swollen I feel so beautiful! He legitimately did a perfect job I can't even describe how thankful I am. Truly a wonderful experience. I wish I had done it sooner... and so glad I chose Rival! Lyne the admin assistant was also amazing with responding to all my questions and concerns... and trust me I had many! Overall... it was so nerve racking... but it's way better than I had ever hoped. The recovery was actually a breeze too.. didn't need any pain killers after day 1. 10/10 completely worth it and recommend.

Dr. Rival is amazing. It’s been about three months since my rhinoplasty, and although I have a lot more swelling that needs to go down (I have thicker skin) I’m already so pleased with my results! He does not make your nose look overdone/fake, which was very important to me. Besides the friends/family that I told, no one else has ever suspected that I had my nose done! Overall, I found Dr. Rival’s disposition to be kind and caring. I appreciated how soft spoken he was and never seemed to be cocky, yet had just the right amount of confidence to assure me that I could trust him. Only thing I’ve noted now is that I still have a slight bump on my nose when I take a picture from certain angles but this is likely swelling/edema that will go down as I go through the healing process. Not really concerned about this yet! Patience is really a virtue. Updated on 23 Dec 2020: Hey guys! Some of you guys asked for an update on my results, so here they are! This is what my nose looks like 6 months after surgery. I definitely still have swelling because whenever I decide to tape at night, I notice my nose looks a lot smaller the next morning (this is to be expected with thicker skin). I noticed that the edema on the bridge of my nose has went down a bit, yay! Still slightly noticeable at certain angles, but I'm certain it's residual swelling since when I push my skin down in that area it flattens. Anyways, hope this is helpful! :) I'm really very happy with my results.

I had been thinking about getting a rhinoplasty pretty much since the day I had a nose....so naturally I spent ALOT of time researching different providers etc. Living near Toronto there was a lot of reputable surgeons near by. After spending a lifetime weeding out the ones I didn't want based on reviews, pictures etc. I decided on Dr. Rival, and I am so glad that I did! He is one of the top rated plastic surgeons specializing in rhinoplasty, and after reading through reviews and looking at his work it was pretty much a no brainer for me.I had the procedure (Septorhinoplasty) done at the private clinic in Forest Hill. The staff there were all so friendly and caring. Prior to the surgery Dr.Rival came in and reviewed what we had decided on at the consult and took some pictures. Before I knew it, I was out like a light, then waking up to him showing me the before and after pictures and checking up on me at the bedside. His bedside manner is awesome, and has been and continues to be throughout this whole process!The recovery process for me was super easy. I only had to take the prescribed painkillers for the first 3 days, then just switched to Tylenol, and I think by day 5ish I didn't need anything at all. I really didn't bruise much, and swelling wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. I know a lot of that varies from person to person, but I do think some of it has to do with the surgeon's technique as well.I am now 4 months post-op and couldn't be happier with the results! I really did get a natural result as I was told I would. Most of the people that know I had the procedure done, tell my how natural it looks, and that if they didn't know me prior to they wouldn't think I had anything done....which is exactly what I was hoping for! There still is some swelling at the tip of the nose to go down, but even with the swelling I am SO much happier with my nose. I honestly can't wrap my head around how there is even a single negative review on here for Dr. Rival, but I mean we all have our own opinions/experiences.
