If the prognosis of the teeth is poor, you would certainly be a candidate for dental Implants. a 3D scan would need to be taken. So I recently went to the periodontist and he says that I have to get all of my teeth removed, I have sever gum disease and bone loss. A&nbsp;3D scan would need to be taken. Most often plates are placed because of a fractured jawbone .&nbsp;
Having a plate is not a contra-indication it just means the surgeon has to plan a path that will avoid the plate.&nbsp;

I have a metal plate in my bottom jaw. Would I be a candidate for implants?

If you are satisfied with you existing dentures and they meet all the criteria then yes these dentures can be used with your implants as a temporary prosthesis. Once the implants have healed new teeth will need to be made

Is it possible for a denturist to use these existing teeth for implants. The lower denture was originally made for a partial denture.In the next 2 weeks after this.It was discovered my remaining bottom teeth had to be removed due to infection.

I have new upper and lower dentures put in weeks ago.

It does not appear that you have a secure All on 4(tm) type prosthesis. What you may have is a snap on denture
An allon4(tm) type prosthesis does not move is rigid and very comfortable
I would suggest you touch base with your dentist to remedy the problem

I just got my permanent dentures a month ago. The upper plate is not secure and keeps slipping despite adjustments. I have no problems with the implants themselves, but the upper plate drops with talking or eating. any suggestions?

The All on 4(TM) process bypasses the bone grafting procedure altogether
I have rarely come across anyone who is not a candidate
 
These are the things we look for
 
1. Good health
2. Able to undergo surgery
3. Adequate bone
4. Patient understands the process

I'm in researching stages of ALL in 4 and upon reading many, many reviews I see doctors say after eval. We will be able to tell you if your a good candidate...Can anyone tell me a few things specifically what would not make a patient a good candidate? Also if possible bone grafting is needed ,how well do the implants take and is the much success ? TY

It really depends on how the implants have been placed. The All on 4 (TM) requires a certain configuration of implant placement.

How long it lasts depends on a number of things

 

1. Cleaning and looking after them

2. If you wear a night guard - inevitably you will put more force on your teeth

3. Material used to fabricate the teeth - Zirconia is the strongest and may last longer

 

You should be prepared for some complications of a period of time such as teeth chipping and breakage. The restoration will be designed to be retrievable so these problems can readily be fixed.

 

Unfortunately nothing a dentist will do will last forever since the mouth is such a torrid environment

Can I wear the same set of all on four dentures for the rest of my life if I brush and floss? I do not want to have to get a new set. I heard it last less than 10 years.

A few things to consider

 

1. The plane of your lower teeth should be even, meaning there should be no teeth significantly higher than another

2. You should have enough back teeth to support your bite otherwise the front teeth will touch with a lot of intensity and may break.

I had heard you have to have both rear bottom molars.

What is the criteria for bottom teeth if you just want the all on 4 upper done?

My recommendation would be to get an orthodontic consultation first

If your teeth are not too crowded and very minimally invasive or no preparation veneers can be done this would be ok

If your teeth are severely crowded a significant amount of tooth structure would need to be removed. The immediate gratification would not be worth the long term complications

Can you get veneers with crowded teeth?

With the all on 4 (TM) procedure there are two phases

1. Temporary phase where teeth are provided the same day as the implants - In this phase you should restrict yourself to a soft diet whilst the implants are healing. Nothing crunchy, hard or chewy.

2. Final phase - Once your implants have healed a new set of teeth will be fabricated. You can eat almost anything with these teeth but remember anything that would have broken your natural teeth can also break these teeth. Excercise caution in the very hard foods.&nbsp;

I see &amp; read a lot of good thing about the look of the All on four, but I haven't read anything about eating. Also is there anyone or place in the St. Louis-Ft. Leonard Wood, MO area that does this procedure?Thanks
