I would not do lumineers.&nbsp; There are many other porcelain manufacturers that do minimal preparation which requires a small amount of tooth reduction or no prep that look far more natural than lumineers.&nbsp; The decision should be based on the shape of the tooth and how it is aligned in the arch.&nbsp; Another thing to consider is minor orthodontic movement&nbsp; which would move your tooth into a more favorable position and require less tooth reduction which is ALWAYS the best long term option for a healthy tooth.

I have straight teeth with a small gap right in the middle upper two teeth and I am looking for 1.long term whitening 2.nice look. What do you recommend?

Lumineers for Small Tooth Gap and Whitening?

The simple answer is that yes lumineers can be placed over existing crowns however that is not the preferred treatment option in our office.&nbsp; Even though lumineers are thin this would add extra bulk to the tooth in most cases resulting in less than an ideal esthetic result.&nbsp; Also the age of the crown is a factor and the material used to manufacture it.&nbsp; If the crown is over 5 years old it may need replacement in the near future which would necessitate your having to redo the lumineer.&nbsp; The best option would be to remove the crown&nbsp;and redo with a lumineer or veneer.

I already got porcelain crowns done 3 months ago,i dont really like the shade i was wondering can i have porcelain lumineers placed over my existing porcelain crowns? Does this require a specific bonding agent? do porcelain lumineers have the exact color/shade chart as the porcelain crowns? Thank you

Generally speaking porcelain veneers are generally the preferred treatment option in our office because they require less reduction of tooth structure.&nbsp; However, if the tooth already has a crown then it must be replaced by a crown.&nbsp; Also you can do a combination of veneers and crowns depending upon the condition of the tooth and if done by an experienced dentist and a quality dental lab it is not discernable which tooth has the veneer or crown.&nbsp;

I recently had my front teeth crowned and the dentist had to do some recontouring in order for them to fit properly. Most of this was done on the backs of the crowns, but some on the sides for easier flossing I assume. Are these areas more likely to stain since some of the porcelain surface has been removed?
