I had been wanting this procedure for years, and finally took the plunge. I selected Dr. Najafi because I've seen his work on several people I know well. Not only that, these women had their procedures years ago, so seeing his work years later (no drooping noses), I felt that the likelihood of needing a revision would be low.
So yesterday was the big day. The nurses, anesthesiologist, and Dr. Najafi were all extremely professional and caring. I could tell everyone had my best interest in mind, and that made me at ease; I wasn't nervous at all. I really appreciated that before the surgery, Dr. Najafi recapped what he was going to be doing. While we had met two time prior to the surgery date and spoke on the phone several times, it was nice to have that last minute assurance that everything would proceed as planned.
During Day 1, I had no pain. There was some fogginess from the anesthesia and a little stinging from where the incisions were made. The worst of it was I woke up with a mild sore throat. Cough drops helped a lot and I definitely recommend having a Chap Stick or Burt's Bees on hand. The swelling on my face wasn't too bad either. Black eyes did start to appear beginning of the corner of my eyes, but nothing too bad. Overall, I was really surprised I did not have any pain.
Night One. No sleep. I never sleep in my back, so this is quite the adjustment. I started taking the pain pills in the hopes that drowsiness would help out me to bed. It wasn't too effective. Being awake through the night wasn't too bad though. I was able to take my antibiotics when needed and change the dressings.
Day two. Wow. Lots more swelling. The black eyes grew overnight, too. The stinging around my nose is worse but manageable. I have a bit of throbbing between my eyebrows, but nothing unmanageable.
Will continue to update and add photos once I can edit my eyes out :)
