After spending right under seven years researching for the best rhinoplasty specialist in Southern California, I am so thankful to have went with Dr. Jason Roostaeian (pronounced roost-eye-n). I do obsessive web sleuthing when it comes to who I trust with my face, and Dr. Roostaeian had my full trust. 1. I really appreciate his natural aesthetic with noses. Nearly every rhinoplasty plastic surgeon specialist has a signature nose where all of their noses look the same, or have that excessive slope, or the nose is too delicate and looks like it will break. Dr. Jason's noses are natural, finessed, classy, and he specializes in ethnic preservation, which I loved. I was so scared about not looking like myself, and writing this almost a year post, my nose feels like the best version of me. Not somebody else's nose on my face. 2. His accolades. I work in medical aesthetics and greatly respect well-researched physicians who take time to keep up with current literature. Dr. Roostaeian doesn't just study it, he writes it. He is one of the top five board certified plastic surgeons very frequently presenting at the highest respected conferences. He's a UCLA professor at the most difficult to get into medical schools. He studied at the top universities in the nation and consistently excelled, earning awards after awards. I heard from a medical student there (a friend of mine) that Dr. Roostaeian does all of his work and is famous for how meticulous and attuned to detail he is (different than other surgeons). I also knew physicians flew from all over the world to learn from him, and even on the day of my surgery, the students and surgeons I met were so grateful to be in his presence. That is very rare, and says SO much. 3. His team and social skills. Lili, is so helpful and prompt. I was so impressed with his team, and how kind and courteous and supportive they were. I always felt like I was supported through every step of the process. It's not uncommon to feel alone throughout an intimidating medical procedure. Many physicians and talented plastic surgeons lack in the social and communication categories, which isn't necessarily a must-have, but he has a calm and kind demeanor and explains processes and answers questions clearly and kindly. I am writing this so that people can hear more about his talent (which is super underrated in my opinion). He is worth the wait. He is worth any cost. The face and the nose is so important to invest appropriately in, and I would not trust any other board certified plastic surgeon other than Dr. Jason Roostaeian. I am so thankful for the incredible experience I had with him and his team.
Dr. Jason is both very talented and ethical. It's hard to find a surgeon with both qualities, especially in LA. If you're looking for natural results, he's your guy. Definitely worth booking a consult with him!
I feel infinity blessed that I found Dr. Roostaeian. It is hard to even put into words how incredible his skills are. I went about 10 years living with horrible results after a car accident and the subsequent surgery to fix my nose. Over the years I consulted with different plastic surgeons, only to not move forward with revision as i wasn’t confident in any of them being the right doctor. I finally booked an appointment with Dr. Roostaeian after researching his credentials and seeing pictures of a revision rhinoplasty case that he had done previously that resembled similar issues with my nose. I went to the consultation not expecting that I would move forward with a surgery and just to see his opinion and confidence level regarding if it could even be fixed or made to look more natural. I was immediately at ease with him, he was very straight forward and he clearly saw the issues with my nose and that it could be made to look more natural. There is an option to have a 3-D scan of the nose and have a cast that would be brought into surgery to make sure the vision is in line with the surgeon’s vision. I chose to do this option before committing to surgery, to make sure our visions and expectations aligned. I sent in pictures of my natural nose (before the accident and prior rhinoplasty) to help aid in the vision for the results. I was extremely nervous to see the 3-D rendering, and the moment I saw it, I knew he would be my surgeon. It was exactly the vision I had and it looked so much more like myself before surgery. Needless to say, I called and booked the surgery that very day for a few weeks out. I want to emphasize the amount of trust and faith in a doctor it takes for anyone to go through a revision rhinoplasty. Even though I felt like we were on the same page, it took an immense amount of trust to believe in him. I went into surgery that day with confidence in Dr Roosaeian. He would be adding a cadaver rib graft to my nose to extend and lower the tip, which sounds terrifying, but my nose had a lot of scar tissue and a lack of cartilage and this was the best option for my particular case. After surgery with the cast on, I went through stages of worrying of what the result will look like; will I look like myself, will it look natural, will it look worse, and will it look too big? I think these are common thoughts after a revision surgery for most patients since the first surgery turned out with bad results, it’s a natural inclination to have. In fact at the one week mark when he removed my cast I was too nervous to look at it, and i wanted him to tape it and i would give it a bit more time for swelling to subside until i looked. But he smiled confidently and convinced me to take a look that day and said I would be very pleased. So I mustered up the courage and looked in the mirror and in that moment when I saw it, I knew that it was absolutely perfect. In fact, it was better than I could have ever imagined it to be. Dr Jason’s eye for natural beauty is unparalleled. He made my nose look better than I ever dared to dream or wish for. I went in with expectations of improvement and looking more natural, and I came out with the most perfect results for my face that I could have ever hoped for. During each follow up, I never felt rushed, and he was always took his time to make sure all of my questions or concerns were answered. He really listens to his patients, and takes the time to hear their concerns and does his best to give the absolute greatest results possible. It has been over a year, and my nose just keeps looking better and better and the subtle refinements start to show as the last bits of swelling subside. I am in complete awe of the surgical skills that Dr Jason has, and I have since trusted him with further procedures. I believe this is just the start of his career and that he will be known as one of the greatest plastic and reconstructive surgeons of our time. Just looking at my own surgery results, I can tell the amount of thought and attention to detail he put into my surgery. I also want to reiterate that his eye for natural beauty is remarkable, he gave me better results than I had imagined for myself and I know my face better than anyone. Also, I want to note that I later looked back at the 3-D scan imaging and my results were exactly the same as the imaging, maybe even better. I understand that the imaging is not always necessary, and you should always rely on the skills of the doctor and not the imaging, but I wanted to point this out because it clearly shows how extremely detailed the surgery was, and how skilled of a surgeon he is. I highly recommend him and his results speak for themselves. For natural timeless beauty results he is the absolute best surgeon and I believe he will be known as one of the greatest. I also want to thank Dr. Roostaiean for taking so much time and effort on my case and giving me better results than I ever dreamed for.
I am SO thrilled with the results of my rhinoplasty. I had my cast removed today and can already tell that the result is exactly what I was hoping for. It looks just like my nose, except on a great day and from the best angle!! (And things re still a little swollen so will improve further) My friends didn't notice until I showed them the before pictures and they were amazed at how natural and subtle my results are. This is exactly what I wanted - not a huge difference that people would spot but just natural refinement. Throughout the whole process, Dr Roostaeian has been wonderful. So reassuring, patient and responsive to my questions. A true master of his art. He gave me complete confidence at every step and even when I was nervous, I decided to trust his judgement and do as he suggested. So thankful I did. Thank you to Dr Jason and his whole team. A rhinoplasty is a big deal and I'm so, so happy with my results. And relieved that I did my research and found the absolute best in the bizz. 5*s in every way and would recommend to anyone. I'm only one-week post-op (rhinoplasty/septoplasty), but can unequivocally state that Dr. Jason should be everyone's go-to doctor when it comes to this procedure. I'm a 30-year-old adult male and haven't been able to breathe through one nostril for 15+ years because of my deviated septum. Also, my nose was really crooked due to an injury I suffered in high school. I was referred to Dr. Jason by a friend and was really impressed by his energy, knowledge, and passion. Check out his Instagram page or videos on YouTube and you'll see that he has unbelievable before/after shots. He's one of the only plastic surgeons I've come across during my research that posts photos of every single angle. He's a perfectionist and that's the type of person I wanted to perform my surgery. From consultation to my one-week follow-up, Dr. Jason and his team always made themselves available to answer any questions. As far as the procedure, I didn't experience any pain. I only had a bit of swelling around the eyes a couple days after the procedure, which dissipated quickly. Lastly, the doctor's fees were very reasonable. Given his attention to detail and amazing results, the surgery was definitely worth every penny.
Dr. Jason fixed my deviated septum and crooked nose. After years of postponing, I finally had it fixed and I can now sleep better at night. My colleagues didn’t even notice I had my nose fixed. Thank you Dr J for doing exactly what you say.
HE IS MIRACLE WORKER!!!!!!! I had over 6 surgeries on my nose and each one made my nose MUCH WORSE ..one Dr. cut alot of skin away. I gave up...I could NOT BREATHE at all through my nightmare-nose and I was resignation that I will never breathe normally. Also it looked like I was in a huge accident. I had so much scar tissue ....but I got lucky. A UCLA nose, throat and ear doctor said I needed grafts etc. and told me to trust Dr. Roostaeian, So I told Dr. Roostaeian I just want to breathe normal.. I want to breathe through my nose. .and I don't care how it looks..just focus on the breathe and I had the surgery. When Dr. Roostaeian removed the bandages I breathed normal through my nose!!!!!! IT WAS A MIRACLE, AND I STARTED TO CRY. Honest..I started to cry. I couldn't believe this nightmare-nose was fixed. Oh, and it looked really amazing. My husband keeps telling me how great my nose looks. P.S. And I don't snore anymore
Dr. Roostaeian performed rhinoplasty on my nose that I broke many years ago. My broken nose was minor and not completely obvious to people until I pointed it out. I was hesitant going into the process of rhinoplasty, there being a chance that I may come out with a new nose that looks worse. Gratefully, my nose now looks better than ever! Dr. Roostaeian was honest and reassuring before my surgery. He shared his advice on restructuring my nose, yet prioritized my requests. He made it clear that he would not proceed with anything that I did not agree to. The comfort I felt with Dr. Roostaeian completely exceeded my expectations. On the day of my surgery he met with me just before the operation, calming my nerves as I was able to talk to him face to face. He also made himself available to speak over the phone when I had a concern during recovery. His hospitality was great, and his work was impressive. My nose looks exactly the way I hoped: natural and similar to the look before it was broken. Since my entire experience went smoothly and the results of his work are natural, Dr. Roostaeian will be my only choice for plastic surgery from now on.
My experience with Dr. Roostaeian was remarkable. I originally broke my nose over 10 years ago after falling off my horse. I since have had 6 surgeries prior to seeing Dr. Roostaeian. After my original revision with a previous doctor, I had a gortex implant placed in my nose that became infected and burst into the tip of my septum. After having this removed over several surgeries, I was left with a saddle nose deformity that did not match the rest of my face and significantly impacted my breathing. As a result, I have seen the best in the field of reconstructive surgery (not just in CA-in the U.S.) and Dr. Roostaeian was given the green light by them. I was told by one of the leading minds in reconstructive surgery that Dr. Roostaeian is "in the top 99% of surgeons." With this recommendation, I went to UCLA for a consultation. After the first 5 minutes of the consultation I had zero reservations about his ability. He speaks clearly, confidently, realistically, does not rush you and most importantly he has a genuine desire to help you fix your issue. It has been two months since my surgery and I have never felt better. I can breathe better and thanks to Dr. Roostaeian my nose has transformed into the strong profile that I wanted. Not only did it change the aesthetic of my nose but now my nose matches the rest of my face and I no longer have that nagging insecurity about having a saddle nose. I lived with it for so long that I started to just block out any thought of having a normal looking nose. Now that I have gone through the process, my only wish is that I would have gone and seen Dr. Roostaeian earlier. I am a young professional and the confidence it gave me is something that you cannot put a price on or even articulate. From someone who has seen more specialists than most, take it from me, he is a surgeon who will leave a legacy for his skill. Update: 9/2016 My surgery was 9 months ago and my nose is looking better than I anticipated. I could not be happier with the end result.
Dr. Roostaeian helped me complete a process that started 10 years ago when I lost 140 pounds (305 lbs. to 165 lbs.). Even though I was no longer obese, I spent the past decade still feeling like I was. After such a major weight loss, I was left with extra skin around my stomach and a chest that was never flat. I was referred to Dr. Roostaeian for a a mini abdominoplasty and chest reduction (gynecomastia). I consulted with three other surgeons before Dr. Roostaeian patiently answered all of my questions, and walked me through the entire process. His background in aesthetics was a huge reason why I chose him—when you’re changing your body, you want someone with a trained eye for what looks the best and most natural. I had my surgery in December 2015. I woke up and Dr. Roostaeian was standing next to my bed--and he was there every step of the way to make sure that my recovery was on track. I’ve never had a doctor who’s been more involved and interested in the healing process. Nearly six months later, I love my results! My body is healing very well, and best of all, I’ve gained a confidence in myself that I didn’t know could exist: 10 years after I lost all that weight, I finally feel comfortable in my own skin.I enthusiastically recommend Dr. Roostaeian. His skill, care, and understanding have made this an incredible experience.
The cost for a rhinoplasty really depends a number of factors. For instance, whether it is a simple primary case or complex re-do that requires rib cartilage will affect the average price greatly. Another important point is whether insurance will cover any breathing related portions of the procedure, which can help with out of pocket expenses in appropriate cases. While the prices will vary to some degree among different surgeons, I highly recommend that a patient picks a surgeon not on price but on who they feel most comfortable with. Since it takes time, energy, and some expense to meet your surgeon in the flesh for a consult it is advisable to start with before and after pictures to see if the prior results for a particular surgeon is in line with your own sense of an aesthetic result. Once you have found a surgeon with prior work that you are happy with you should meet with them and make sure you can communicate well together. Being able to communicate what you are trying to achieve and having them explain how it can be achieved is one of the most important steps in the process. After all, not only is every nose different but what bothers a patient most and what particular changes they are seeking makes each case different. Being able to treat each patient as the unique individual they are is one of my favorite parts of being a plastic surgeon!
The fat is dissolved within 10-15 minutes of the injection, however an inflammatory response is induced that causes swelling that takes approximately 3-4 weeks to subside. The bruising and redness tend to be minor and easily covered by makeup. The swelling, however, is noticeable to the patient for typically that fist week or so but is in most cases not going to be catching the eye of casual observers. So most people are fine with going about their daily lives and routines . Those close to you, however, would likely notice unlike with botox injections which are invisible within hours. You will not see your result from a the treatment for at least 4 weeks following your injection because of this swelling. Most patients require at least 2 rounds of treatment to get to a result that is a noticeable improvement and that they are happy with. A similar but often more mild process of minimal bruising, redness, and swelling occurs with each of these rounds but they tend to be milder with each subsequent round. Hope that helps!
This is an important question when considering any cosmetic procedure. Biologically, for any scar to fully heal and mature it takes about a year. Over this time you will see your scars become less and less visible as they will lighten in color and become softer to the touch. With that said, most patients feel comfortable to attend any special engagements such as a wedding by 4 weeks as the majority of swelling has gone down and fine line scars are easily concealed with or without make-up. In terms of just going out in public without looking like you just had a facelift is frequently possible by 10-14 days when the majority of bruising and swelling has subsided.
Swelling is normal following a facelift surgery. Some measures to reduce the amount of swelling include: a) Try to keep your head above the level of your heart at all times for the first 2 weeks. Do not sleep with your head resting on multiple pillows as this will flex your neck and cause bleeding and/or bunching of the neck skin. I recommend a large wedge that elevates your back and your head. b) Use cooling measures such ice water soaked gauze or ice water in a ziplock for the first 48 hours. Your skin should just feel cool to the touch. Avoid anything completely frozen such as gel packs as this can cause damage to your skin. c) Avoid activities that involve bending over or straining. You should also minimize your salt intake as much as possible after surgery. Ideally you should ingest no more than 2 grams per day for the first 3 months after surgery. d) oral steroids such as a Medrol dose pack to help reduce your inflammation and swelling from surgery. e) Light compression, such as a neck wrap, helps prevent swelling in the specific area that is being compressed. It is important that it is not tight but just lightly compressive. A neck wrap is ideally worn during the time of greatest swelling which is the first 2 weeks. All of these measures combined will help minimize the amount of swelling you encounter following surgery.
Many patients can best predict how much their face will change with any changes in weight as it is variable among each individual. If you notice major changes in your facial fat with weight changes than it is best to wait until you are at a stable weight that you are comfortable with before undergoing surgery. For example, patients who have had significant weight loss are common candidates for facelift as their once very full face deflates and leaves behind a lot of excess skin.
