As I look back to the day we met, I realize as I put myself in Dr. Burrell's hands, she gave me her heart. Mine was the unexpected breast cancer diagnosis at 69. Although, I humbly stand in the shadow of Stage 4 women fighting for their lives; the fact that I had what is called “the good kind” was no less terrifying or heartbreaking than the BRCA positive woman who decides to have a preventive double mastectomy. I urge you to read her impressive C.V., then rest in your decision to invite Whitney Burrell, MD along on your journey; be it breast cancer reconstruction, cosmetic improvements or an unexpected accident requiring someone by your side who believes more for you than you can for yourself. I’ll end with something I've said to her many times, as my way of reminding her of my deep and sincere gratitude for what she did for me the day of my reconstruction …that turned into night; “A lesser doctor would have left at the estimated 4-5 hours …you stayed 7 !” She stayed until it was right …not only her eyes, but in her heart for me. Forever grateful!

I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer but due to the cancer spreading uncontrollably, I needed a mastectomy. I was devastated. It broke my heart to think that I wouldn't look like myself, but I needed it to live. I was initially seen by Dr. Spenler, who was an angel. He performed the first phase of my reconstruction. After going through 16 rounds of chemo and 25 of radiation, I was done ( but burned). Dr. Spenler introduced Dr. Burrell to me because he felt that I would benefit from the Diep surgery that she performs. She did my surgery and I couldn't be happier. I look better than I did before. She truly has blessed hands. Dr. Burrell is truly talented because she made my breasts symmetrical. Despite having one breast with an expander and the other needing to be lifted to the height of the expanded breast, she did an awesome job. She was honest when it came to expectations- which I really appreciated. She is very friendly and answered all my questions. She gave me comfort during this rough time. Dr. Burrell has set the standard pretty high for surgeons not only with her surgical artistry but with her personality.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a bilateral mastectomy. I endured chemotherapy and radiation, which effected my skin and tissue. I was quite skeptical about my reconstruction results. But with Dr. Burrell's expertise and undeniable talent, she made me feel whole again. Her entire staff was kind and went beyond the call of duty to make my experience bright inspite of my dark situation. I highly recommend Dr. Burrell, you will be in great hands!

Dr. Burrell is an amazing surgeon. My journey with Breast Cancer started two long years ago. So when I was referred to Dr. Burrell, I was skeptical and hopeful at the same time. She helped me mentally and physically get through my final surgery and I am very thankful for her. I would highly recommend her and her staff. The results of my surgery was perfect.

"You have breast cancer"....."WHAT?!?!" That was almost a yr ago after a routine mammo...of course shocked since I had no symptoms or familial history. Thank goodness for Dr. Burrell, her team from the front office to the nurses are all wonderful and kind. All the reviews are spot on when it describes Dr. B. She is an amazing skilled doctor and a genuine person oh and her perfectionism is a bonus! She always listened and answered all my questions even when they're repetitive (brain still in shock from the new diagnosis) she always took her time and never rushed me, she always made sure I understood my options. She understands and wants to make you happy and comfortable. I decided upon the double mastectomy with the Diep Flap reconstruction. Yes this procedure is long but I was amazingly calm the day of surgery and it's because I had full confidence in her. The recovery surprisingly wasn't painful she took great care of me and that's without pain meds! There's not enough words to describe how thankful I am for having Dr. Burrell put in my path, I am one of the lucky ones and truly indebted to her. I highly recommend her and hope whatever your considering to be done you see her you won't regret it.

I had breast reconstruction with a DIEP flap procedure. Dr. Burrell was not only outstanding at surgery, but she was very patient and caring throughout. She always listened to my concerns and answered any questions without making me feel rushed. It was a long surgery for her and a long process, but I always felt that she put patient care first. She exceeded my expectations when she was able to get rid of a scar with the last surgery. Her staff is so amazing. They are all so kind and great at what they do. This can be such an emotional journey, but Dr. Burrell and her staff will be there for you the whole time.

Dr Burrell, Was outstanding, I have always struggled with my breast size being 5"1 and 120 I was a 32FF and now I am proud to be a 32 C. Dr Burrell was kind and caring and had my best interest in mind she made this procedure as smooth as possible. For anyone who is unsure about this procedure should look into a consult with Dr. Burrell. I was nervous about the recovery process the day after my surgury I was up and moving and was able to return to my workouts and work shortly after. I am so pleased with my experience with Dr. Burrell.

I have always been very thin with a small B. I definitely want kids and planned on getting this procedure done after, but once kids seem a few more years off, I thought why wait?! My surgery is scheduled in 2.5 week and I'm honestly getting super nervous. I love my surgeon and her team but after reading all the healing stories I'm thinking I wasn't expecting it to be such a long and painful process. I go back next forth between ridiculous excitement and anxiety!! Any advice?!

I'm extremely fortunate to have been referred to Dr. Burrell. She is graceful, professional and truly cares about her patients emotional well-being. She wanted to be sure I was happy with my decision of undergoing preventative measures for Breast Cancer. I'm so glad I listened to her advice and underwent the procedures she recommended!
