Post-Pregnancy Procedures
Mommy makeover plastic surgery is my specialty, and I have performed thousands of these procedures throughout my career. At my practices in Malibu and Bakersfield, a mommy makeover typically consists of a tummy tuck and liposuction, as well a breast enhancement procedure, but I customize each operation to the patient’s concerns and goals.
I take special care to ensure that my liposuction procedures fully address the contours of the waist to create the most desirable silhouette. All sutures that I make during tummy tucks and breast enhancements dissolve under the skin, to result in minimal scarring.
I also pay thorough attention to my mommy makeover surgery patients’ post-operative care. Combined breast augmentation, liposuction, and tummy tuck recovery takes a minimum of two weeks, with no lifting or working out for at least four to six weeks post-procedure. Breast Surgery
I have performed over 5,000 breast augmentation surgeries at my Malibu and Bakersfield practices, carefully tailoring each procedure to the patient, to ensure they achieve their aesthetic goals.
I always start the breast augmentation process by sharing before-and-after pictures with my patients, so they can see prior examples of my work and start to visualize their own results. I then work with them on 3D imaging and augmented reality views, showing them what their new shape could look like, before guiding them in trying on different-sized implants to narrow down their preferences.
I am a Mentor LEAD physician, meaning that I am one of the most experienced breast implant surgery providers in the United States. I am proud of the fact that more than 99% of my patients give me a five-star rating in post-op surveys.
Abdominoplasty
When I perform tummy tuck surgery (abdominoplasty) at my Bakersfield practice, I follow a few essential guidelines to ensure that my patients are happy with their results.
The first is the incision. Many patients are worried about the signature “tummy tuck scar” at the top of their bikini line. I make the incision as low, straight, and thin as possible so it can be well hidden. I also perform liposuction on the sides of the stomach and at the waistline to create a more contoured look.
Other frequent concerns of patients are the upper-middle area of the abdomen and above the pubic area, which can often look puffy. I make sure there is no fullness in either area for a thoroughly flat, sleek stomach.
Lastly, my team and I spend a lot of time during tummy tuck surgery to create the perfect, natural-looking belly button. Though it means more time in the operating room, it’s worth it!

During this time, Dr. Shah received his board certification from the American Board of Surgery and performed a wide range of surgeries, including heart, trauma, and breast cancer surgery. He then pursued a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic, where he honed his skills in cosmetic surgery. His precise hand and artistic eye has earned him the Best of Bakersfield award since 2004 and each year since. He is board eligible for the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
In addition to authoring articles published in academic journals and lecturing on topics related to surgery, Dr. Shah gives back to the community by volunteering his time and talents to those who are less fortunate. He regularly travels internationally to India and countries in Africa and South America via his nonprofit organization, The Promise, to correct cleft lips and palates and treat burn injuries.
Dr. Shah lives in Malibu and enjoys traveling, exercising, and continuing his education in his free time, as well as spending time with his wife and two children.
