I've been on quite a journey with Dr. Somia, first meeting him in early 2022 for a lipoedema diagnosis, and now having completed three surgeries under his care. From the very beginning, Dr. Somia has been incredibly supportive and truly puts his patients first. He takes the time to explain the condition and all management options—both surgical and non-surgical—without ever applying pressure. If you choose to proceed with surgery, he is clear and realistic about what’s achievable, ensuring you're informed and confident every step of the way. What really sets him apart is his kindness and compassion. In the pre-op room, his calm and reassuring manner puts you completely at ease, allowing you to feel confident that you're in safe hands. The results have been life-changing. I've regained my natural anatomical shape, mobility, and a level of confidence I hadn't felt in years. My legs feel lighter, more proportionate, and pain-free—something I hadn’t experienced in a long time. This treatment has not only transformed my body but also helped me regain a sense of freedom and normalcy in everyday life. As part of my journey, I was also fortunate to be selected as a trial patient for IgniteRF skin tightening. This was used in conjunction with liposuction to improve the texture and tone of my skin. While my skin is not perfect due to my history—having undergone massive weight loss, skin removal surgeries, and the nature of lipoedema—I’m truly amazed by the results. The RF skin tightening has noticeably tightened and smoothed areas that had been difficult to treat, providing results I didn’t think were possible. Post-operative care has been exceptional. After my first appointment with Dr Somia, I felt reassured I had picked the right surgeon for my ptosis repair and brow fixation. He listened to me, explained everything about the procedure and addressed all my concerns. I am now 2 weeks post op and very pleased with my result! I couldn’t have asked for a better Dr and team to look after me, everything went smoothly.

I wanted a fresher look without looking odd for my years. I’m 64 and my lower face was started to sag. I did everything to try to correct this including very painful threads which cost a lot and worked for a moment. I went to see Dr Somia as he had operated on me a few years ago with breast augmentation. This I was and still am so very pleased with. Dr Somia explained the procedure for my lower face extremely well. We decided to do a lower face lift which meant my saggy neck would be addressed. Dr Somia is a skilled surgeon and the procedure went very well. I was in hospital only one night and he was extremely patient and caring with my after care. I had no complications and I know if I had he would have addressed them quickly. I am so glad I didn’t wait too long for this surgery. I now look younger and feel great. I have no hesitation in recommending Dr Somia.

After procrastinating so long to get my under-eye bags fixed and a breast reduction, I wish now I hadn't waited so long! Dr Somia was amazing. I am overjoyed with the results, better than I ever expected. Dr Somia has such a caring and empathetic attitude and is a brilliant surgeon who guides you through the whole process and provides all the information you need. Dr. Somia is undoubtedly one of the best plastic surgeons in Sydney, and in Australia. Dr Somia provides the highest calibre of care, pre-and post operative guidance and support, and is an absolute master at his craft. Words cannot adequately express my gratitude to him for how he's helped changed my life following my first Lipoedema surgery (WAL/ bilateral upper arm surgery). He is not only an expert in plastic surgery and Lipoedema but also is incredibly warm, personable and it's evident he cares deeply about each his patients, their results and ensures they walk away with the best surgical and aesthetic result possible. He has my wholehearted trust, confidence and respect for the beautiful result he was able to achieve for me - I would not entrust anyone else with the same level of responsibility. I have been self-conscious about my eyebags for decades (since I was a teenager), but the thought of going under the knife was daunting and scary. I had consulted other cosmetic surgeons prior to meeting Dr. Somia and the experiences were nothing short of frightening – there was no way I would put my life at risk at the hands of those people who didn't seem professional and didn't have plastic surgery training. After many years of searching for the right surgeon and "thinking about it", I finally booked an appointment with Dr. Somia. From the first meeting, I knew I was in the right hands. Dr. Somia made me feel at ease and showed ways he took extra precautions to put my safety first. He then demonstrated a consummate understanding of the aging process and how it affects our appearances, and provided an insightful analysis of what's considered to be aesthetically pleasing. He also explained his process and approach to keeping my appearance natural and the measures he takes in the aftercare to make recovery as smooth as possible. Throughout the whole journey, I felt looked after and taken care of as a human being. I can't recommend Dr. Somia and praise his professionalism enough. After years of being self-conscious about my appearance, I'm extremely happy that I picked the right surgeon to give me the confidence I've been craving.

Dr Somia performed surgery for my Lipoedema on my arms, this is my first surgery of 2-3 I will have with Dr Somia. He did a great job and 5 months post op I am very happy with the results. Dr Somia makes an amazing effort to provide you with a full picture of information and resources for your life with Lipoedema, surgery is just one part. In all of my post op check ups Dr Somia has not only checked on the progress of my arms in their healing but given me more information and suggested resources to help me with my day to day life as well as get ready for my next surgery. All of the other medical professionals that Dr Somia recommends form part of your team are also great and have helped make this experience a much more positive one. I couldn't recommend Dr Somia more and I feel very confident and comfortable going into my future surgeries with him.

Dr Somia performed liposuction on my upper arms and torso and did a great job. He is very knowledgeable, highly skilled and caring and helped in numerous ways with a condition called lipoedema which I have. I previously also had liposuction surgery with Dr Somia on my legs to slow the progress of the condition. Dr Somia and his team work really hard to give the best care and treatment and I can highly recommend them. You can ask as many questions as you like and get great advice.

I recently had liposuction on both arms and legs for lipedema, and I cannot recommend Dr Somia and his team more. I noticed a reduction in lipedema pain (even with the added pain of surgical recovery) right away, and I have the legs that I've dreamed about since I was a teenager (I'm 28 now and I finally feel like a young person!). The initial recovery for arms was tough, but my leg recovery is going very smoothly and I couldn't be happier with the results. Shout out to Tahlia and the rest of the patient care team as well! They are super responsive and really quick to help with any concerns - they are worth the money.

I am age 51 and am now 3 months post Bilateral Ptosis repair and Brow Fixation with Dr Somia, and I am extremely happy with my results. My eyes are now open, my vision improved, my brows once again are even in height and I look natural and refreshed. I had always had large open eyes, but had noticed that my eyes had gotten much smaller over the last 2-3 years and I now always looked half asleep with an eyebrow that would quizzically raise higher as the day went on. I consulted with Dr Somia about what was going on, who takes the time to carefully explain the impact of ageing on the eyelid function and vision, ptosis and how other muscles engage to try and compensate, and also how to repair. I was given the necessary referrals to have a visual field test to confirm his diagnosis, which also supports necessity for surgery under Medicare. I am someone who is extremely careful in my selection of medical professionals, and had complete confidence in Dr Somia performing this procedure, not only from previous consults, reviews, recommendations from other Doctors but also in knowing he had undertaken a Fellowship in Oculoplastics. The process of organising the procedure through the office was simple (despite needing to reschedule having contracted Covid prior to the original date). Dr Somia supplies Lidlift goggles which minimise bruising and swelling post operation, which work well as both were minimal in my case. Also included post-op were some Healite Treatments which I have to say you can actually feel working beneath the skin surface to speed wound healing - I was impressed with these! At 3 months post operation, the small scars are already barely perceptible and will only continue to improve. Friends are now telling me how "fresh" I look and I feel my eyes are like the "old me" again. I have no hesitation in recommending Dr Somia, and will definitely return to his surgery should I require any procedures in the future.
