Hello-this is Dr Chris Walton in Mobile,AL.&nbsp; I am a refractive surgeon who sees this condition frequently.&nbsp; It's called anisometropia, meaning a large difference in the prescription between the eyes. Spectacle correction is very hard to tolerate with this condition and leads to double vision, nausea, and poor depth perception.
Contact lens correction is usually better tolerated with clearer vision but I would consider LASIK in the right eye as the recommended procedure.&nbsp; This would bring this eye to a plano correction and make both eyes symmetric.&nbsp; There would be no need for a contact lens and you would enjoy perfect binocular distance vision for the rest of your life.&nbsp; Hope this helps!

I recently got a new pair of glasses but on the left eye I have a plain lens and for the right eye the diopter is +2.50 spherical and +1 cylindrical with an axis of 95 degrees. I have decided to wear glasses to make sure my vision would not worsen. However, I see much worse now with both eyes when I wear glasses. It seems to me that the image is doubled. The area around the right eye is painful and I have difficulty focusing after taking them off.

The left eye is farsighted and the right one has hyperopia with astigmatism. The difference is too big. What can be done?

Laser Eye Surgery

Hello-this is Dr Chris Walton in Mobile,AL.&nbsp; I am a LASIK and cataract surgeon in the Gulf Coast area.&nbsp; Usually, the vision is excellent the day after surgery and stays this way.&nbsp; I would definitely check with your surgeon before June 20th just to make sure the flaps are OK.&nbsp; Dry eye always increases after LASIK for 4-6 weeks so you could be having increased dry eye symptoms that will definitely cause vision to decrease temporarily.&nbsp; Increasing artificial tear use during this time will always help, but definitely make appointment to see your surgeon in the next few days.&nbsp; Hope this helps!

I had LASIK eye surgery 21st April 2016. My first post op was fine I could see 20/20, my second post op (29/4) I could also see 20/20. Yesterday my vision was so bad I felt like I needed glasses. I woke up this morning again with slight bluriness. I really feel to put my glasses on but I know this could effect the healing process of LASIK. Is this normal and will my vision return to how it was just a couple of days ago (20/20) my next post op appointment is June 20th.

Eyes one week after LASIK are blurry. Is this normal and when will it go away? I am worried.

hello. yes, halos are common and can last for up to 3 months following surgery. they should diminish gradually over this time period.
Dry eye is found in virtually every patient following surgery but should resolve within 6-8 weeks.&nbsp;i use tears every 2-3 hours for the first 2-3 wks&nbsp;following surgery. i don't know your age but if you're between 37-45, you will need readers for small print, even following Lasik. this is normal presbyopia..hope this helps!

Its been 4 days i got femto lasik done i expernce halos m blurred vision my far vision is fine but near vision is blurry i also hve dry eyes is it normal? After how much time these halos go away?

Hello. after 2 days, the distance vision should be very sharp in most cases. check with your surgeon and see if you had a myopic or hyperopic surgery. myopic,&nbsp;or nearsighted&nbsp;ablations,&nbsp;are usually great the next day. Hyperopic&nbsp;or farsighted&nbsp;ablations,&nbsp;can take up to 2 weeks before distance is sharp because of the optics.&nbsp;reading is usually very good temporarily until the distance settles in. i see this in most of my farsighted patients. i would follow up with your surgeon in next few days just to see how you're doing. hope this helps!

I have worn reading glasses for years, my vision was at a 3.00 in my left eye and 350 in my right. I chose lasik and had it done on 2 days ago. I have no problem with reading but my sight for distance is totally blurred like I have a haze in my left eye. I see double and there are halos will this go away or did I make a bad decision with lasik I can't take this it's driving me crazy

Hello. i'm a Lasik surgery specialist and 3 days following myopic Lasik, vision should be very good at this point. there is always increased dry eye but that's a normal postoperative condition. i would definitely see your surgeon immediately and make sure there aren't any flap issues, such as folds or inflammation in the flaps. hope this help

I had my LASIK surgery on Friday afternoon. It is now Monday afternoon and while my vision is better than pre-surgery, it is still very blurry at distance. I was -6.50 in both eyes presurgery and my first day post-check was supposedly normal though I told them it was still very blurry. There has been limited or maybe even zero improvement since Saturday morning to now (Monday afternoon) and I'm getting concerned.. Am I just being impatient or should I call the doctors?

hello. the most likely cause of this is severe dry eye which is very common for several weeks following Lasik. dry eye can cause a sudden drop in vision and always increases following Lasik surgery. i would increase artificial tear use to every 2 hours and follow up with your surgeon next couple days to be sure the flap has not slipped. this would be rare but i have seen it.

I had lasik a week ago and my vision got cleared out properly. But this morning I woke up with blurry vision only in my left eye. I have been following up the drops regularly. Kindly help.

Hello. i assume you are talking about Lasik when asking about laser eye surgery. since Lasik has only a few hours recovery, it's better to get that done first and then proceed with eyelid surgery. i'd wait at least 2 months in between to be sure the dry eye has stabilized following LASIK.&nbsp;

i personally use the Eye-Q. yes, the 500 is the newest laser available but there is very little, if any, difference in outcomes. both are customized and have very fast ablation times. i have purposely not gone to the 500 because there is no clear advantage according to the literature.&nbsp;if time is a factor, the Eye-q is an excellent laser and looks like the price differential is negligible. hope this helps!

I want to have lasik performed. We have a trip planned at the end of April and wanted to have it done before then. One office has the Eye-q laser, they have appointments available and after all is said and done will cost 3,900. The other office had the Ex500 laser, offers lifetime touch ups and would be 3600. However, they would not be able to get us in before our trip. Would it be a poor decision to go with the older Eye-q technology vs the new Ex500?

Hello-interesting question. The olive oll probably will not make any significant difference and could burn quite a bit if gets onto the eye surface. I would just use the Latisse as directed...you'll be impressed with the speed of growth using only Latisse

I just started using Lartisse and I was wondering if I would be able to apply latisse and wait about an hour for it to dry and then apply olive oil to help stimulate faster growth or would I just be making things worse?

Latisse followed by oil?

Hi Amber- I am a LASIK specialist in Mobile,AL and in my experience, vision is nearly perfect within a week following surgery.  There may have been some undercorrection in that eye that would probably need to be addressed by your surgeon in the next couple months.  Dry eye is always an issue following LASIK and can cause double or fluctuating vision. The tinnitus is most likely not related to the surgery.  This is an inner ear issue.  Hope this helps and thanks for the question! Dr. Walton

I got my LASIK done a month back. the power in the right eye was 3.50 | 2.00 ×10° and in the left it was 3.50 | 2.00 × 180°. the vision in left eye is perfect but in the right eye it is blurry and double. this differential vision is at times frustrating particularly while reading. Plus a couple of days after LASIK I have been experiencing little noise in the right ear, has it anything to do with LASIK.

Will the eye recover? how long it might take? what all should I do for best results?
