My surgeon is recommending a short course of Levofloxacin post facelift surgery. I prefer not to take quinolone antibiotics due to the risk for severe side effects. To those surgeons who use post surgical prophylaxis, what antibiotic do you routinely prescribe?
I had a facelift and I had large open sores in the front of my temple an behind my ear. At the time I was told it was all fine and that it happens sometimes and was given antibacterial ointment. Was this normal? Does this happen? I still have scars.
I'm having a facial procedure next week and my surgeon's office initially said they would give me a prescription for antibiotics the day of surgery. When I requested a prescription beforehand so I wouldn't have to worry about filling it right after having surgery in an unfamiliar city, they refused but said they could give me the pills the day of surgery. I am aware of how bad antibiotics are for the gut/body, but will take them if necessary. I guess my question is, how necessary are they?
Will be going in for a face & necklift Feb 1,2017 about 2 1/2 wks. Have been on amoxicillin-clavullanare 500-125mg for five days for a UTI. Will do another urinalysis but if not cleared up the doctor said he will use another antibiotic. Since my PS is out of state, I really don't want to have a cancellation. If I'm still on the second antibiotic will this compromise my chances of having the surgery? I am keeping my fingers crossed the urinalysis will come back negative.
I already took a 10 day course of antibiotics around week 4 , it reduced it a lot . I'm Not in massive pain but wondering if it's normal ? I'm very numb still and feels like I've come out of dentist . I don't want to keep pestering my surgeon and being a fuss pot . I still can't lift anything heavy without pain and cant run or dance etc and sleeping in my side feels very tentetive
My tragus and the back of both ears are red and inflamed after 7 weeks post facelift revision. I called PS office and he said to go to ER or PCP. Went to PCP and was put on antibiotics. Seems as though it is getting worse. What can be happening?
Why don't doctors prophylactically prescribe a broad spectrum antibiotic like Keflex to all facelift patients to prevent infection in the incision areas? I've been reading reviews here and a common theme seems to be swollen, throbbing ears where the stitches are, as well as pus in those areas, even if the incision areas are cleaned daily.
