I once fell on my ear and since then there is a scare on my ear and its a bit thickened. At that spot my ear is not very flexible and the scar is hard as well. Thats why it feels a bit like sleeping on a small rock. I get pain if I lie with my ear on something hard. Is it possible to fix my ear and rearrange the scar and make the thick part thinner? I was told my doctors in my area that the surgery is too difficult and in some cases they even would need to take tissue from my rip to fix it.
I had a terrible result with an otoplasty 2 years ago where my ears were overcorrected and since then have undergone two revisions the last one being grafts of cartlidge taken from my rib and placed in the antihelical folds of both ears . My left ear is acceptable however the right ear still looks thick and is sticking out further out the then left. I was wondering if it was worth one last attempt to fix it or is the amount of scar tissue build up going to make this an almost impossible task.
I recently had two premanat otoplasty sutures removed due to them becoming irritated from time to time. I had the otoplasty procedure done two years ago. I have read scar tissue forms and holds the ears in place after while more than the sutures. My questions are 1 what is the likely hood that my ear will return back to its position prior to the surgery. 2 if in fact it will, how long before I would be able to notice and would it be a gradual change or sudden change. (weeks vs months, years)
I had otoplasty 41/2 months ago and i can feel the rubbing under the skin of some sutures while other ones are hidden in scar tissue creating a bump that hurts. I feel constant discomfort. I wish to remove them. when i try to wiggle my ears i feel a restriction is very annoying.
Hello there, 7 days ago I had otoplasty surgery - both "pinning" and lobal reduction. Of course a small scab (line) has formed on the bottom arch of the newly-formed lobe. I get these stitches out tomorrow and was wondering if I should be keeping the area clean with Hydrogen Peroxide/moist with vaseline to reduce scarring? I received no indications of the sort from my surgeon (and she will not be taking the stitches out as I am out of town). The line is slightly visible from the front.
Hi, I am 35 year old male and have an already hardened cauliflower ear which I've had since 1999 because I did not get it drained at the time, Is there anyway to dissolve the excess cartilage inside my ear by maybe taking Serrapeptase ? as I've heard that it attacks/dissolves dead tissue/scar tissue and some doctors say on other websites that the excess cartilage *is* a build up of scar tissue (the blood/fluid trapped inside the ear between the skin and cartilage) Any help greatly appreciated.
After an Otoplasty, How Long Will It in General Take for Scar Tissue to Settle, Making the Removal of Permanent Sutures Useless? Had otoplasty 5 months ago. My ears are overcorrected and the method was used was Mustarde, permanent sutures. I discussed it with my doctor, and I also said that I do not want a revision surgery, but rather the permanent sutures to be removed. He agreed, but didn't know whether the newly set scar tissue would make the operation useful. So my question: When will scar tissue generally begin to settle and how long does this process take? Some say weeks, months, or even more.. Do i have a chance?
Hello, In 2015 i've had Ear Surgery done and since then i've irregularly been experiencing a sharp temporarily pain in my left ear, that comes and goes. During the pandemic i've noticed this more frequently due to wearing a face mask. My doctor says it's caused by a permanent suture, but is that true? It doesn't hurt when i touch my ear. And using scar cream made the pain less. Could it be caused by scar tissue or something else? And what are the risks of having a permanent sulture removed?
