I have been going back and forth on one Dr. who does drainless TT's and the other who does not. Both have great results but when asking both about drains vs not drains they both seem to contradict each other. I am torn because drains seem like more work and kind of scary. But I was told you cannot pull as tight if doesn't have drains. How do you decide? Is it this big of a deal that I'm making it out to be?
I'm 5'6, 169 pounds. I had a TT with muscle repair six months ago. Standing up I look good (aside from some asymmetry on my left hip), but when I sit down, I still have a muffin top and when I bend over, I still have a rounded hanging belly with lots of loose wrinkly skin, just like I did before surgery. My surgeon says if he pulls me tighter, it might cause wound healing issues because of my skin laxity. He never mentioned my skin laxity in any of my consults. Do I need a revision?
I am considering a tummy tuck for 2 reasons. The first is cosmetic- I hate how my tummy looks and would like to improve this. The second is medical- I believe that carrying this much fat and skin is making it hard for me to exercise and feel comfortable. It feels heavy, my organs feel loose and I hate tight spots from gallbladder removal surgery that I feel need repairing. I have a hiatal hernia and believe my abdominal muscles need repair.
I know any procedure has risks, but how risky is a tummy tuck? I know infection, scarring, swelling, pain while healing. My husband is all of a sudden concerned about my life, and what if something goes horribly wrong. He doesnt think its worth it. Are there any good resources that we can look through? Im mostly finding positive outcomes. Ive had 3 big babies, the last one being 12lbs, and Id LOVE to fix the significant muscle separation. I need my husband to be ok with this decision. Ty!
I just read a review of drainless tummy tucks by a board certified plastic surgeon in my area who says she prefers traditional abdominoplasty (with drains) because the progressive tension sutures used for a drainless tummy tuck can be obviously and indefinitely visible from the outside. Is this accurate?
I am 39 52 and 110 pounds. I had a tummy tuck and diastatis recti correction. After 3 pregnancy had loose skin and muscle separation. I am 9 months post op and noticed Center line in abdomen is crooked. It curves to my right side. Has anyone else experienced this. My PS says its just how I healed.
am 5,3, 153 lb, late 30s, I had 3 pregnancies and l gain 80 lbs and keep it on until I am done breastfeeding and then lose it i know this does no favors to my skin. I usually weight closer to 140 and plan to lose 15 more lbs. usually my stomach is wrinkly/ after each pregnancy but Is relatively Flat in a pair of leggings, now I still have a bump , I cant tell if its bc I still have 15 lbs of fat to lose or I just did too much damage this time and have panniculus and need surgery
I had a drainless tummy tuck 9 months ago. I have a large bulge on my left side that is not a swollen area. I know it takes up to a year for everything to settle but this is not budging. I have 2 pea sized lumps on my scar further along that you cant see but can definitely feel. The surgeon said that the lumps weere my body rejecting the sutures. He said the lump was where he had pulled it tight and would lipo that area at a future time. Does this look like that?
Ive seen some drs perform drainless tt and others that say youd have to drain it out later with a needle anyway so may as well place the drains. Are all patients candidates for drainless tt? And if u are a candidate is that a personal choice to have it drainless or the doctors choice?
