I have had enlarged and droppy nipples after breastfeeding and pumping milk for multiple kids. I really wanted to do nipple reduction surgery but didn't want to lose sensation. The US doctors I contacted described methods that sounded like lopping the top off of them which freaked me out. I came across a research paper online about a different nipple reduction technique that preserves sensation and when I contacted the Taipei-based author, he referred me to Dr. Chang. The technique involves retaining the tip of the nipple and trimming around it to reduce the size and width as needed. I contacted Dr. Chang's clinic through email and later using LINE messaging app. I was pretty determined to do this so I booked a day and paid a deposit. I don't live in Taipei and flew there the night before so I would be rested. That morning I went to the clinic for consultation. It's on the ground floor with a street entrance, so did not feel very medical/hospital-like! But they have a larger and proper operating room. We discussed the size I wanted (width and projection in millimeters) and looked at some photo references. I decided to go ahead with it; the procedure was done with local anaesthesia and IV antibiotics and took around 1.5-2 hours. The most painful part was the initial pricks for the anaesthesia. After that I didn't feel a thing until later in the day when the anaesthesia wore off and things were a bit sore. Dr. Chang gave me good painkillers which I took for two days, and some antibiotics to prevent infection. The doctor explained how to apply ointment and tape the gauze over the nipples while they healed. They bandaged things up and I flew out of Taipei the same day. They use nylon stitches which needed to be removed a week later. Since I didn't want to fly back to Taipei I arranged with a plastic surgeon near me to remove them. When I had the stitches removed, the doctor said to use 1% peroxide and ointment with the gauze for another 3 days. They were fully healed by then. I definitely still have sensation and am much happier with their appearance.

I have fully recovered from my nipple reduction surgery. Dr. Chang fixed my droopy and enlarged nipples which had become deformed after breast feeding and pumping breastmilk for 3 kids. I selected this doctor because he uses a technique which preserves sensation and has done many of these procedures. I am happy with the results and wish I had done it sooner!
