It is normal to have increased swelling after surgery for a few weeks and even up to a few months. This should continue to improve with time. If you recently had surgery, you can also ask your surgeon for a short course of oral steroids to help with the swelling.

I had uppper and lower eyelid surgery to remove eyebags and hooded eyelids. The surgery has removed the eye bags but has left me with these fluid bags further down my face. I have never seen these on other before and after photos and my surgeon keeps telling me it’s swelling and use hot compresses. I am so anxious as I did not have these before and no amount of make up covers them. I am getting married next year and so worried these wont go.

A canthoplasty can help with the slant as well as the gap between the lateral eyelid and eyeball. This is a procedure that can be done safely in the office. Prices vary based on surgeon - I would recommend an in person evaluation with an oculoplastic surgeon.

Hi all, I am a young male seeking your input on my eye region. I would like to correct the slope of my lower eyelid, which is currently negative, to one that is positive, or least neutral. Typically we want to wait at least 6-9 months following your blepharoplasty to consider revision. There are various techniques we can use but a thorough in person evaluation is needed to determine what is best for you, as there are many different causes for lower eyelid retraction.

After lower blepharoplasty with canthopexy, I noticed that my eyes became round and the lower eyelid drooped and scars formed under the eyes. My eyes are dry all the time and I suspect that this is lower eyelid retraction. It has been 6 months since the previous operation. When can I make repair and how is this being done?

There might be very trace amount of left upper eyelid ptosis or your left eye may be slightly more sunken. However, the asymmetry is mostly due to excess skin and brow ptosis (brow droop) worse on the left. These asymmetries can be improved upon with surgeries and botox.

Do I appear to be a good candidate for an upper blepharoplasty? I've been reading about ptosis and wondered if I have that or if it's just extra skin on my right eye making it appear smaller. This has been something I've been super self-conscious about for years.

This is a personal decision. I do believe ptosis surgery will improve your asymmetry significantly. At the end of the day, if you are bothered enough by this, you can undergo surgery. Otherwise, you don't have to.

The higher up bubble is actually your eyelid muscle (orbicularis) - this can not be removed. Your lower eyelid bubble is lower eyelid fat pad. This can be surgical removed. I would not recommend filler as it may make things worse. I would recommend surgical removal of the eyelid fat bag.

I am only 18 years old and have had eyebags for as long as I can remember. They are huge and make me very self conscious and insecure. It looks like I have double eyebags when I smile but are barely visible in certain angles especially if I were to take a photo with the flash on. What can I do to get rid of them? None of us are perfectly symmetric and there are normal variations of this. However, there are also more concerning medical conditions that can cause this. If you have had this all your life, not likely concerning but if more recent progression, you will need to get this evaluated. There are various procedures that can be done to improve symmetry of the eyes or reduce the appearance of the bulging eye - such as orbital decompression or eyelid surgeries. Again, you need a thorough in-person evaluation first. Hope this is helpful.

Likely just a freckle or nevus but would recommend getting this checked and followed by your eye doctor. If concerning they can always remove it.

The puffiness typically is caused by protrusion of your lower eyelid fat pads. This can be surgically debulked or repositioned (if you have lower eyelid hollows). The surgery is called lower eyelid blepharoplasty and is commonly performed.

I’m only 32 and have noticed these shadows and puffiness under my eyes ever since getting juvederm filler a couple years ago. I have since had it removed but the puffiness persists. These shadows make me look so tired all the time- what could be done to correct this? I have Done a round of Morpheus 8 in hopes to tighten the area but didn’t see a difference. Hi there, you have excess skin on your upper eyelids but not too much lateral hooding. If you would like your outer brow s lifted, this can certainly get this done but just an upper eyelid blepharoplasty can also likely achieve the results you want. Doing just an upper eyelid bleph is certainly quicker and easier recovery. Hope this helps!

I have been thinking about upper eyelid surgery but then I am wondering whether it will be enough to open my eyes? I have very obvious extra skin on my eyelashes and a having a lower set brow does not bother me personally, as long my eyes are not covered by the skin. Can I do well just with the eyelid surgery (which is faster and less costly)?
