Gastric Bypass

Exciting, Scary, Necessary, Relieved!

So, this is my second weight loss surgery. Now the first surgery I had did what it was supposed to do, however I ended up getting a very bad case of gerds. That was with the sleeve okay. I did lose weight I was just one of the unfortunate few who had GERDS and let me tell you it is horrible! so I ended up having to go through sleeve revision to a gastric bypass to fix it. Also had a hiatal hernia and my stomach was going all the way up in my chest and stick in there. Worst pain ever with heartburn and acid reflux. From the time that I had my endoscopy to check my stomach in esophagus, to the time I had my bypass was less than two weeks. I know it went really quick. I just had my bypass on the 13th of April 2020 and I had started my pre-op on April sixt 2020. My beginning weight was 319 lb as of today and I am 5 days post-op I'm now 303. I have to say the worst pain is the air bubbles OMG! That gas has me on my knees in dying mold LOL! The actual surgery sites in pain really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I have four small incisions in one incision that has a JP drain that I change when it gets full. I do take a blue dye every day until 8 days so that they can detect if there are any leaks so far I don't have any. It's very exciting. It's very scary is very necessary. you see yourself changing right before your eyes and it's a little unnerving because you're getting what you always wanted, but you've been so comfortable with your weight and skin that you're more vulnerable than you were when you were bigger. I do have a lot more energy I can move around a lot better I feel better. I find myself making better choices when choosing things to eat not just for me but for my family. my doctor was Doctor s and Doctor k from Mish hospital in Lenexa Kansas. Small hospital very neat and clean and everyone was fantastic. I never complained anytime I need anything they were there always in constant communication it was great! very very good bedside manners my scars are so small you really can't even tell that they're there. The one con I see out of this is the extra skin but compared to everything else that's minor. This is a major surgery so it should be thought out. It's good to have some support I only told my mother my daughter and my cousin. I didn't want the whole world knowing but I did have support. This is not something that you want to go through by yourself okay. What I can say is pray about it, where your options find out what is best for you vs what you think people will think and go for it so far it's been a very good decision for me. And I'll try to keep you updated.I don't have an appetite really. I get full really quick can I can't wait till I hit stage 3 where I can eat pureed food! I'm so tired of liquids and soups and jello ensure shakes swear I can't wait! LOL follow whatever destructions your doctor gives you if you don't you will regret it! This takes time and patience and discipline. Remember this is an investment that you making yourself so make the best out of it. You're going to have ups and downs that's normal but think of the positive and how great you're going to feel when this is over with! Any questions feel free to send me a message be blessed I'll see you on the other side!
