Septoplasty Experience

I wish someone had warned me about Dr. Han, which is why I'm writing this review. Over the course of 11 months, I had a total of 11 appointments with his team related to the septoplasty he performed. Unfortunately, I had many negative experiences with both him and his staff during that time. His front office staff were repeatedly rude and unprofessional, especially when I had scheduling conflicts or asked simple medical or billing questions. As for the surgery itself, the septoplasty did not deliver the results Dr. Han promised. He claimed it would straighten my septum and improve airflow through both nostrils. Instead, the remaining cartilage is severely bowed and continues to block one nostril, which contradicts what he told me. Looking back, Dr. Han came across as overly arrogant about his abilities. He did not show much curiosity or care in understanding my specific anatomy, which likely contributed to the poor result. He never mentioned that my case might be complicated or at higher risk for a suboptimal outcome, and I don’t believe it was. During pre-surgery consultations, I felt dismissed when I asked questions about how he planned to straighten my septum, specifically whether he would be removing or reshaping cartilage or bone. Rather than engaging in a detailed explanation, he repeatedly said things like, “Don’t worry, it will be perfectly straight. You have to trust me,” and grew defensive when I pushed for more clarity. After the surgery, when it was clear the procedure hadn’t met the intended goals, Dr. Han became evasive. He tried to blame allergies for the continued breathing issues in one nostril, despite the visibly bent septum, and labeled me a perfectionist for expecting the results he had promised multiple times. Eventually, after becoming frustrated and terminating our doctor-patient relationship, he admitted that he had OVERPROMMISED. That kind of honesty would have been far more helpful before the surgery, especially considering I had asked him several times whether there was anything about my anatomy that might impact the outcome. Each time, he confidently assured me that everything would turn out perfectly straight, which misguided my decision to have the surgery. In the end, it feels like he said whatever was necessary to get me to book the surgery. While I believe Dr. Han may be technically competent as a surgeon, my experience with his communication, attitude, his staff, and the surgical outcome was overwhelmingly negative.

Avoid This Doctor

Broke my nose over a year ago and went in Dr Han's office for a septorhinoplasty. Told him specifically I wanted to fix my breathing and make the appearance of my nose what it was before, he did an unsatisfactory job, went back in and he denied anything being wrong with my nose when it was clearly still deviated. Thinking about a revision with a different surgeon
