QUESTIONS ANSWERED

What do you do on the airplane if you did a nose job and it bleeds?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

First ask for help to the flight attendant, you could be moved for a more comfortable colder place, lay your head back and but some gauze or tissues under you nostrils but do not try to pinch it or to put something inside. Ask for decongestants(AFRIN) and apply 1 spray on each nostril it has a effect that shrinks small vessels and this helps stop bleeding. It all depends on how long after the rhinoplasty has been done but a severe bleeding(i.e. it takes less than a minute to for the gauze to be completely wet) is something to be evaluated by a specialist as soon as the flight permits. But be calm, some small bleeding usually ocurrs and head position and rest solves this most of the time.

I had a septorhinoplasty 9 days ago, on day 3 I developed an infection. How can I prevent septum from moving?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

It is extremely rare to develop clinically significant infection after a septorhinoplasty, if this happens you should absolutely manage the infection first and deal with septum later. There are different techniques so where the septum is pretty much depends on what has been done and how it will heal during time. Stay in close follow up with you're surgeon.

Will massage or pulling help alar retraction? (Photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Typically massaging past the healing period won't have any effect and if the scar has hardened it might be some graft applied to the tip. If there is large scar tissue an alternative is the use of steroids + 5FU. Always look for board certified plastic surgeon and rhinoplasty specialist

Had an open Sseptorhinoplasty 5.5 weeks ago. As of yesterday came down with a bad head cold/flu. Will this effect my healing?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

It can increase your discomfort but will not impair your healing, drink a lot of fluids, continue with proper hygiene and follow your surgeons prescription and you'll be fine.

I’m insecure about my nose being too big and considering a nose job. Does my nose fit me or should I get a nose job? (Photos)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Rhinoplasty is one of the most complex plastic surgeries, if this concern is not something that affect your everyday then a surgery will not bring you something worth the risks. If you do consider to get it done always look for a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and Rhinoplasty Specialist.

Do you cut out an entire sector of a rib cartilage for rhinoplasty? (Photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

I typically use split oblique technique which absolutely does NOT need to harvest entire rib, however it al comes to why do you need rib in the first place, so mostly in large reconstructive cases i will use entire segments of ribs, in particular the last ones(floating) that have a very low complication rate and almost no physical impairment. Always look for Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and Rhinoplasty specialist.
