Hello, Failed apico treatment does not negate the possibility of placing a future implant; however, it can make implant treatment more difficult and require ancillary procedures. To treat a tooth with an apico the provider must access the tip of the tooth through the bone. When these fail, they likely leave a defect in the bone where the site was accessed. This defect usually requires repair with bone grafting prior to implant placement, and can definitely complicate the situation. Hope this helps!
Hello Claudia, If the space between the gingiva and your plate does not affect your speech and is not visible, generally you would want some space there. The space prevents food trapping and allows you to clean and maintain the area better, thus preventing future disease to your implants. If you are just in the temporary phase, sometimes your DDS with tighten the space up a bit once you reach the final restoration. Hope this helps. Take care Vincent Cavaretta DDS
