QUESTIONS ANSWERED

How does the SculpSure applicator work?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
SculpSure has 4 applicators that can be used independently to treat multiple areas. These applicators are attached and secured on to treatment areas with straps. Direct contact with the skin allows the applicators to fire a laser approximately 1.5 cm deep targeting subcutaneous fat while cooling the skin. Sculpsure cycles between cooling and heating phases throughout the 25 minute treatment, making the procedure safe for the skin while effectively melting up to 25% of fat in the treatment area. The procedure is painless and there is no recovery time needed. Patients return to the gym and their regular activities the same day.

SculpSure: Does this procedure take the place of a Tummy Tuck?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
The short answer is no, Sculpsure does not replace a Tummy Tuck. A Tummy Tuck serves to remove extra skin and fat while tightening the abdominal muscles that stretch during pregnancy. Although a scar is required at the level of a c-section scar, Tummy tuck surgery can produce dramatic and impressive results. On the other hand, SculpSure is a non-invasive, scar-free, recovery-free 25 minute procedure that helps melt fat only and does nothing to tighten the abdominal muscles or remove extra skin. Sculpsure penetrates about 1.5 cm deep in to the fat and can melt up to 25% of the fat inthe treatment area. Ideal candidates for SculpSure are those that have stubborn pockets of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. If you are not sure which procedure is right for you, it would be best to consult with a plastic surgeon you trust, who can examine you and offer the best options suited for you.

Does SculpSure damage muscle? Can it be used for the upper back?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Like many devices, Sculpsure is often times used off label. Currently, SculpSure is FDA approved to treat the abdomen and flanks, however, off label, I have seen great results in patients who have had treatment to the upper back and bra fat. SculpSure penetrates up to 1.5 cm deep at a wavelength of 1060 nm. This wavelength was chosen to destroy fat cells without damaging surrounding tissues. Unlike other noninvasive body contouring devices, there is no post-procedure pain, numbness, injury to muscle, blood vessels, or other structures. During consultations with my patients, we discuss all their concerns and goals of the treatment, as well as determining that each patient is the right candidate for Sculpsure. It is important to find a doctor that has experience with lasers including SculpSure especially when treating off label areas.

What can be expected from the first SculpSure treatment?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
It is natural for patients to be concerned with pain during and after their procedure. One of the major benefits of SculpSure over the other non-invasive body contouring procedures is that it is pain free. In fact the ideal sensation that patients should feel during a treatment is mild tingling. During a SculpSure treatment, the sculpting applicators are placed exactly on top of problem areas and secured in place with straps. Once the treatment starts, patients will feel gradual heating in the treatment area followed by gentle cooling of the fat at minimal to no discomfort. When compared to other non-invasive treatments for fat reduction, patients confess that Sculpsure is considerably more comfortable during and after the procedure. All patients can resume their normal activities and exercise immediately following the treatment. None of our patients reported any late onset discomfort. SculpSure is FDA approved, and an extremely safe way of removing stubborn body fat without the need for surgery.

Who is the ideal candidate for Sculpsure?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
SculpSure is the first FDA-cleared laser treatment for completely non-invasive fat reduction. Ideal candidates should be within 10-20 pounds of their ideal weight and want to target fat that is resistant to diet and exercise. Our best patients are those who live an active, healthy life style and either need help with reducing fat in problem areas or who need help to jump-start their fat loss goals. During consultations with my patients, we discuss short term and long term goals and overall health and fitness routines.

Fat Transfer for Under Eye Hollows

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Fat transfer to the under eye area is a safe, effective, semi-permanent solution for hollowing under the eyes, cheeks, nasolabial folds, and lips. Fat transfer to these areas will not only lift the general facial structure, but also improve the look of your skin, giving a more youthful appearance. In addition to filling out wrinkles in the face, highly purified fat injections also enhance the blood circulation in the tissues. Facial fat transfer is safe and there are no allergic reactions to worry about, because the fat is from your own body. Make sure to have a consultation with a plastic surgeon who has experience in facial aesthetics. Together you can decide if fat transfer is the right procedure for you.

Sagging skin after Smart Lipo. Should I be worried? How long does it take for skin to tighten up? (Photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Patients who have undergone liposuction in essence have decreased the volume in that area. Therefore it is natural for there to be excess or sagging skin. Skin, though, has an inherent elasticity that often times tightens to reduce this sagging appearance all on its own. However, one benefit of smartlipo is that it specifically addresses the skin to further tighten it even more. This effect begins around the 3 month mark when the collagen fibers under the skin reorient and tighten the skin and continues to tighten over the next 6 months. Wearing a compression garment after the procedure is very important to help reduce swelling and decrease scar tissue formation under the skin that can impede skin tightening. Most patients should wear the garment consistently for up to a month and then at bedtime as often as possible. It is also important to maintain healthy eating and exercise habits.

Hello. I'm a 30 year old woman and I am considering lipo under my chin. Is smart lipo my best option?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Smartlipo is very effective at targeting the small, fatty area under the chin. The real advantage of Smartlipo over traditional liposuction is that Smartlipo not only permanently melts and destroys the fat cells, but that it specifically addresses skin tightening at the same time. By boosting collagen production, Smartlipo patients have a tighter neck with a better defined jaw line. Our patients have seen great results with this procedure. I would seek a consultation with a plastic surgeon first to make sure you are the right candidate. Your doctor should evaluate you and give you realistic expectations based on your exam. Some patients may benefit more from a neck lift or non-invasive procedure so finding a doctor that can offer you the complete spectrum of tailored treatments will allow you to have the most optimal result.

Will cellulaze address dimply somewhat loose skin above my knees?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Cellulaze for cellulite is a great treatment for dimply, loose skin. The powerful laser used in the treatment targets all three types of cellulite: bumps, dimples, and cobblestone like skin. For dimply skin, the laser cuts the fibrous bands that pull down against the skin thus releasing the dimples. The bands are melted, so cellulite is unlikely to re-form in the future. Cellulaze for cellulite also increases collagen production to improve elasticity and firm the skin. I would recommend consulting with a plastic surgeon to determine if this is the right procedure for you.

Do I have enough fat for a Brazilian Butt Lift? (photos)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
In general, when we perform a Brazilian Butt Lift, we re-contour the shape of the butt by performing liposuction of the lower back, love handles, and thighs. By reducing the surrounding volume, the butt takes better shape and looks bigger already. Next, we take the fat and re-inject it into the butt to augment the butt itself. Sometimes we even perform liposuction to the abdomen to have more fat to re-inject into the butt. The end result is a better shaped, larger butt. During a consultation with your Plastic Surgeon, you will discuss your goals, assess the volume of fat required, and where to take it from. In our office we use a 3D camera to show you what your current back side looks like and how we can improve it.
