I had a masectomy woth reconstruction. Dr. Sauerhammer was the plastic surgeon accompanying the oncologist. Her bedside manner was terrible, she is cold and rude. Her entire staff has terrible bedside manner. I was never given a gown to cover up in, the nurse left the door open with me fully exposed. The office forgot to schedule reconstruction surgery. My expanders came detached and flipped upside down. My chest was full of fluid and all I got was a shoulder shrug and told to wait 4 months for surgery. I never had a pre op appointment, just a consult and met her the day if surgery. I was not given any post op instructions. The nurse told me to resume normal activity after one week. Please, do not go thru what I did with this neglectful clinic.
Dr Sauerhammer was nice enough, but my overall experience at the office during a consultation (that I had paid for) was subpar. She went through the basics of how a breast augmentation is performed with me (all stuff that is easy to google) and was willing to answer the more important questions that I had (recovery, brand, profile, size). She took a "measurement" of me, didn't write anything down from it, and she suggested a size that is much larger than previous doctors had suggested. After my 15 minute, $80 consultation she had let me know that the staff would call me about pricing. I had walked to the lobby to double check with the front desk and no one was there, so I stood around a little bit and left when I realized no one was coming. Overall, I felt more like a number or paycheck rather than a human being looking to make a serious and life changing decision. I can't find any of her work online also which is making me run for the hills. I was really looking forward to seeing her but will not be choosing her because of the lack of personability.
The staff and doctor were very kind. I only had a consult at this location. I ended up booking with a different doctor due to a less thorough examination, lack of pictures of her work, and conflicted opinions with other consults. I went with the doctor I felt was more educated in the outcome I wanted with consideration to my body type and lifestyle (I am very fit and active). Dr. Sauerhammer was very kind and confident. She told me after taking one measurment of the width of my breasts that I wouldn't need a lift at all and that the implant would be enough to do that for me (other consults informed me that a lift would be necessary for decent nipple positioning on the breast) She said if nipple position wasn't where I wanted it that would be another surgery (I really don't want to have to undergo another surgery if it's not necessary). She seemed to think I should go with larger than what I wanted. From my research and another doctor's opinion, my breasts aren't perfectly centered in my chest, so I don't have as much room for a larger implant due to the amount of space I have to work with in that area. The skin of my breasts is also a bit thin from stretching from nursing and I was informed by another surgeon that certain implants and larger ones would be more visible and look less natural. I was told prior to her consult from another doctor that I would most likely have a small vertical scar from my old bellybutton due to lack of skin elasticity in my upper abdominal area, but she didn't seem to think it was an issue. She also seemed to think lipo in addition to my tummy tuck was necessary when I have very little body fat. I really didn't want to pay thousands for something that wouldn't really do much. I'm sure she probably would have done a great job, but I went with my gut and chose a different doctor I thought would give me better results.
