My life as a real life Dumbo has ended! After many years thinking about having an otoplasty I finally decided and went for it. I recently moved to Timisoara (I used to live in Italy) and after a short research online I found out about Dr. Tiberiu Bratu and his "Brol Medical Center". Dr. Bratu is an extremely respected plastic surgeon in Romania and his clinic is outstanding compared to other romanian health care facilities. After a 5 minute consultation they booked my surgery and after a month or so it happened! They used both local and general anesthesia, no idea which of the many techniques. After a night in they sent me home and called me back for weekly updates (and bandage changes). The Doctor used dissolvable sutures that my ear spit out in less than 2 weeks. After 15 days they removed my bandages and told me to wear an elastic band for the next 2 months. The pain wasn't extreme, bareable even without pain killers. The worst part for me was and still is sleeping, I've never been this tired in my life. I am not 100% happy about the results yet but I know my body still has a lot of healing to do. After 3 weeks post-op I feel like my ears are too close to my head which makes them look quite unnatural and slighlty "telephoned". I'm also having a hard time dealing with the change even though I was more than ready for it. Did this happen to anyone else? Is the "telephone" shape noticeable? Updated on 18 Apr 2015: Updated on 22 Apr 2015: I forgot to mention that I suffered a loss of sensitivity in the upper part of my left ear and I'm pretty scared. I can't feel anything at all since the operation! Is this normal? Did it happen to anyone? My doctor says that it's caused by the local anesthetic. Is it possible? It's the most annoying sensatiom ever! What should I do? Updated on 23 Apr 2015: I feel so releaved after today's appointment and I can confirm once again that Dr. Bratu is not only a highly prepared surgeon but also a great man. He assured me that in 6 months he can put some stitches in to hold the upper parts of my ears closer to the head, making me feel sooo much more relaxed about this whole thing. He also said that mine was one tough operation since the cartilage forming my ears is extremely soft, pretty hard to work with. I can't wait to have my them fully "fixed" and ready to be shown! :D Updated on 13 May 2015: I'm almost 2 month post-op: do you think I can dye my hair without it causing any trouble?
I have my BA schedule in 8 of July so.. very soon... My meeting with Dr Bratu and lovely dr Shruti Kaushal went perfectly. After talking about my wishes and after showing them some wish pics they understood what I wanted. They measure my breast base (witch is 11 cm) and recommended the 340 cc but after trying the sizers i told them I wanted more so they give me a size bigger, the 375 (in the pic with the top on, the R breast is the 375 and the L is the 340). He recommended a max of 375 with the Motiva Ergonomix because all of the weight of the implant sits at the base and if we go higher the risk of the skin to expand is higher and he doesn't recommend that. (That is because I'm skinny an have no breast tissue) I'm so excited and nervous. Wish me luck! Updated on 8 Jul 2020: 08.07 day of the surgery. I've arrived at the clinic around 9 a'clock they took me to may salon. Around 11 they made the markings on me. At 11:30 I spoke with te anesthesiologist and at noon I was in the operating room. At 15:30 i was out the OR and awake. The pain in ok. I cand handle it. A pressure and tight muscles. I also did a nose job under the same anesthesia... So.. I'm though :)) Updated on 9 Jul 2020: The band is off and I got a bra support. The pain is manageable. I got some muscle relaxants and pain relief med. Also they took out the drain tube, witch was very painful... Tomorrow I will be ready to go home. Can't wait to heal and see the results Updated on 24 Jul 2020: I had the time to take some pics. 11 days PO they were still very tight. The pectoral muscle was very thick and tight ( dr said after he opened the poket) so I don't expect to get softer soon. The pain is gone but I do have to be careful not to lift the elbow higher than the shoulder and not lift anything heavy.
Jes, it is save to fly after the surgery, but it is recommanded that you should use same shots against thrombo-embolya.
