Hi. Thanks for your question. Supraorbital nerve exists from your brow. The hole from which the nerve exists can be palpated along your eyebrow. When you get a brow bone contouring procedure, you will typically have scalp numbness behind the bicoronal incision line. However, the sensation to the front portion of your scalp will be typically preserved as the tissue is raised immediately above the bone (in the subperiosteal plane)...so all soft tissue and scalp sensation is preserved typically in front of the incision line. When such procedure is performed, we actively look for the nerve and the supraorbital nerve is almost always preserved. The bone contouring can be done around the nerve exit point to preserve the nerve function and sensation. In respect to your headache...there are numerous causes for headaches as you could imagine. You will likely want to check with your neurologist who specializes in headache to maximally optimize your headache symptoms prior to proceeding with any surgery. Any surgery will elicit pain and it can also worsen your headache issues. If you have headache specifically from the supraorbital nerve, it may be possible that your nerve will be more irritated after the surgery...with that said, supraorbital nerve is not a common cause/source of headache. You may have a headache that corresponds to the area that the supraorbital nerve is responsible for sensation...but that doesn't mean that your headache is coming from the supraorbital nerve. More likely, you have another source of headache...so it is best to get your headache better controlled irrespective of getting a cosmetic procedure or not. I wish you best of luck. Sincerely, Dr. Lee
