Dr. Buescher performed breast reduction surgery on me. During the initial consultation, she took time to explain the surgical procedure and address all of my questions and/or concerns. Despite her busy schedule, Dr. Buescher is extremely professional, always courteous, and her bedside manner pleasant. I am extremely pleased with the results of my surgery. She did a fantastic job, and I couldn't have asked for a better outcome! I would highly recommend Dr. Buescher to anyone contemplating having breast reduction surgery. She's really awesome! I noticed a hard lump in my right breast in Oct 2016. After many months of tests I was diagnosed with stage 1 invasive ductal carcinoma and two atypical lobular hyperplasia masses (one in each breast). All three masses will be removed. The surgeon says she'll remove "larger than a golfball" from my right breast.
For a healthy person, that length of surgery is generally well tolerated, barring any unusual complications. Patients are kept warm, blood loss is not usually excessive, and the surgery is external to body cavities. The issues usually are amount of volume received and cardiac status; long cases and require a lot of iv fluid, which will eventually have to be offloaded post op. If your heart is healthy, this happens without too many issues. Patients who exercise regular regularly do extremely well; but you do not have to be a gym rat. Regular brisk walking is enough to let you do well. I am not aware of any specific mental issues that arise with competently delivered anesthesia care for that length of time. The bottom line with Diep flaps is that they have to be done correctly and you cannot always predict the anatomy .They take time. The biggest shortcut is to do each step of the surgery properly and not have to return to the OR in the middle of the night. Remember it is a high quality permanent reconstruction. If it takes 10 hours and it lasts you 40 years, it is all good.
