A great alternative to non-steroidal anti inflammatory medications (eg. motrin, ibuprofen, alleve, naprosyn, etc) with all of its stomach centered adverse reactions, is a skin cream called Arnica for mild pain. It is available over the counter and can be used as often as needed. Closing veins with a laser is analogus to spot welding a hose by a welder. Relief from the heat can be obtained by cold compresses. Do not ice. Combining Arnica and cold compresses should do a great job of reliving your pain. Please return to your doctor immediately for any discharge from the treated area, a wide area of redness around the treated vein, swelling, or red streaking originating from the treated area.
