Sweet lovely demenior but screwed up my implant after having exchange surgery after having a nipple sparing mastectomy from breast cancer. She put an implant in that was too small which changed the location of my nipple areola complex. Then chose to do a skin graph ..to center nipple/areola. I was so upset but she told me not to worry that she would skin graph it into the center .which failed bc she tod me to cover it for a week while healing. The lack of oxygen caused it to fail. She is sweet but Find Another Doctor...She is NOT GOOD at what she does.
The purpose of a sports bra after implant removal is to provide compression around the chest. The pocket from which the implant has been removed is a potential space for fluid accumulation. In order to prevent this, many plastic surgeons place drains and advise round the clock compression for at least the first week following surgery. A sports bra which zips in the front is often the easiest to put on. Also, one which can easily be washed helps as there is often fluid which may leak around the drain or through the incision.
Having a great physique well into your 60s, 70s and beyond is becoming more and more common! If you are having discomfort in your breasts or there is evidence of rupture/leakage, most insurers will cover the cost of implant and capsule removal. This includes surgeon fee, anesthesia fee and operating room fee. If you wish to have a lift or your remaining natural breast or placement of new implants, this portion is considered cosmetic and not covered. Having a consultation with a board certified PS can help you to figure out how to best achieve your goals. Best of luck.
It is ok to beging wearing underwire or push up bras as soon as 4 to 6 weeks post op. Check with your PS to make sure you are fully healed and the implants are in the expected position. There are some manufacturers who specifically make bras for augmented breasts. You may find these to fit better and be more comfortable than standard bras. Good luck shopping!
The implant size and location under the muscle (dual plane) you have planned with your PS should give you the look you desire. However, being that you are slim with little overlying breast tissue, you may want to consider using silicone implants. In your case, silicone may result in less rippling and may offer a more natural breast feeling. Best of luck!
This is a great question. Breast reduction is a tremendously popular procedure becuase it helps women decrease chronic breast, neck, back and shoulder pain while rejuvenating their breasts. The great majority of patients are highly satisfied after this procedure. In many cases, this procedure is "medically necessary" and will be covered by insurance. However, that does not mean that you cannot be very open with your plastic surgeon and let them know what size you would like to be postoperatively and what breast shape you find most attractive. Just because your procedure is covered by insurance, you should not feel that you cannot ask your doctor about the cosmesis you desire. Yes, fullness is possible! Ask your plastic surgeon about the technique they prefer and why... and how you may keep the fullness that you have now while reducing the volume and improving your comfort. Best of luck!
