Dr. Chong is a perfectionist when it comes to technique but of equal importance is his great eye for the proportions and aesthetic vision of the breasts. I had a tumor removed on one breast by a breast cancer doctor (Dr Ahrendt who I also loved) and Dr Chong fixed my severe asymmetry on the other breast with in implant during the same surgery. He immediately made me feel comfortable in our first meeting by injecting humor into the conversation and I felt like he really cared about not only my well being but also making me happy with his work. I’m only 19 (so needless to say I was really scared) so he helped guide me through the decisions about size, shape and positioning, keeping in mind how breasts change over time. It’s been two months since the surgery and I have inspected the incision and am happy to report it is a perfect small thin line. I think his work overall is perfection. The whole process from start to my latest follow up appt today has been seamless. The entire staff was very efficient helping me navigate the process of two surgeries, his PA’s are amazing, Dr Chong and his staff were always happy to answer questions during appointments and on the phone. If I ever need any more work done, he’s my doctor.
I worked in the health insurance industry for more than 20 years and evaluated numerous surgical reports. However, personal experience with surgeries was minimal. I was so impressed with Dr. Chong and his staff. They made me feel extremely comfortable and reassured about their experience in completing the deep inferior epigastric perforators (DEIP) flap breast reconstruction. While the procedure took 14 hours and recovery was painful, I am very pleased with the result without breast implants. My confidence in their abilities is unquestioned. Thank you for helping me through this challenging journey.
Dr. Chong aided in my cancer journey by sharing his knowledge, talent, dedication and compassion. Dr. Chong gave me options and an outcome that has allowed me to feel comfortable and confident in myself. The journey had a few bumps, which Dr. Chong tackled swiftly and confidently. Dr. Chong's staff of schedulers are pleasant and efficient, PA Brown complements the practice superbly, all these factors gave me the feeling that I truly did have a 'TEAM' on my side.
I had two separate surgeries with Dr. Chong. Initially in March of 2018, we did a reduction and lift to my non-affected side (which was larger than the affected side even before breast cancer) and we also removed fat from my abdomen and injected into my affected side (which was made even smaller as a result of radiation). In October of 2018, we did a revision and did another reduction and lift of just my non affected side to obtain symmetry. He had told me that it was a possibility that the fat injected during the March surgery would not take and that I would not be symmetrical, especially because radiated breasts are very difficult to operate on. During all of my pre and post op appointments, Dr. Chong was extremely patient and spent as much time with me as I needed. He made sure I didn't have any outstanding questions and would say things like, "If you were my wife, this is what I would recommend..." which I very much appreciated. He also brought in an appropriate degree of levity to the situation which I really liked. I always said that my ultimate goal was to be able to wear fun, summer shirts without a bra and just wear the silicone nipple covers and I am excited to say that I can now do this! My scarring looks great and I have great symmetry! I would highly recommend Dr. Chong and his PA, Joslyn Brown.
